BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I head marketing at Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers, a luxury five-star hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Scope of my work includes overseeing marketing operations on four food and beverage venues of the hotel.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Communi, and what were your goals?

We hired Communi for a website development project for one of our food and beverage venues - TJ's. This follows a rebranding efforts of establishing TJ's from a bistro deli to a neighbourhood sports cafe.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We came across the vendor as a referral by one of my peers in the industry. We assessed their website, did a background check with their existing clients, and asked them for a proposal. After shortlisting, Communi had to undergo a corporate process approval of vendors to assure fair trade and the capability of the service provider to render the quality of service required.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The scope of work includes developing a functional website as per the recent TJ's branding guidelines. Part of the job is ensuring the website is user-friendly, copywriting, graphic design, and integrating our existing booking platforms to the website. Communi set up the hosting platform for us, as well and provided our marketing team with the necessary training for minor content revisions.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Communi's team members who are involved in the project included a project leader, a web developer, a copywriter, an SEO specialist, and a graphic artist.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Communi delivered the website two weeks in advance. We are currently in the process of integrating the website into our marketing plan and strategy for the restaurant.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We communicate mostly via email. However, they are also reachable on WhatsApp. We mostly liaise with one project manager, but meetings were attended by the rest of the team involved in the project. They were very well-organized in handling requests, and we didn't even need to follow up anything with them.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are excellent in simplifying a very complicated concept of web design for us. They execute whatever is requested and was able to deliver a project as per the branding standards.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The company is based in Canada, while our business is in Dubai. Maybe making payment a little bit more convenient for us would be great. At the moment, they only accept bank transfers.
