The Founding of
Cherry Glass
In 1968, Ray D. Cherry opened a new branch of Capitol Glass in Idaho Falls. Ray had long been a contractor, working in paint and glass most of his life. He purchased the business with a handshake.
Ten years later, Ray moved to a tiny shop on 19th West Street to house his burgeoning business.
The family business grew to include a daughter and two sons. Nolan joined in 1978, Margo in 1982, and Bart became a full time employee in 1999. Sadly, Nolan passed away in 1996.
In 1991 Cherry Glass moved from the small shop on 19th West to the new location on 25th East.
After thirty years of owning his own shop, Ray sold the business to his children. His greatest legacy was the inherited knowledge he passed on. Bart and Margo grew up in the contracting business.
