Brock Kryton was born and raised in Edmonton. He began shooting film when he was fifteen years old. He was the first freshman in his high school to receive the McBain Camera Graphic Arts Awards for Proficiency in Graphic Arts normally awarded to graduating students. At 19, he started a photography business, and began photographing and selling prints of competitors at Western and English equestrian events across Western Canada.
