BrandBourg Marketing & Design demonstrated outstanding brand merging and brand architecture development skills by delivering what the client required. The team was responsive to feedback. However, their project management lacked clarity, and their plan wasn’t very detailed.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

I’m in charge of marketing and communications for a group of companies.

What challenge were you trying to address with BrandBourg Marketing & Design?

Given that our corporation has a lot of companies and brands, we revisited our current branding and website, trying to come up with the best branding architecture to represent our corporation overall.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BrandBourg helped us rebrand our portfolio companies so that our entire corporation could operate under a unified branding architecture. The project included conducting focus groups and market research, and the deliverables included logos, brand guidelines, color schemes, a branding architecture and a brand manifesto.

What is the team composition?

We worked with BrandBourg’s president, two VPs — one focused on creative design and the other on brand strategy — and a market researcher.

How did you come to work with BrandBourg Marketing & Design?

I participated in a training course about branding and brand storytelling. Later, I contacted the teacher of this course to ask him what we could do about our current branding situation, and he referred me to BrandBourg.

I also met with a few other marketing and communication agencies. However, BrandBourg had the most experience in brand mergers, acquisitions, and branding architecture, so we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $70,000 CAD (approximately $50,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2021–September 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I liked the branding architecture and branding assets delivered by BrandBourg, but we haven’t rolled out our new brand yet, so we don’t have any metrics on the impact of their work.

How did BrandBourg Marketing & Design perform from a project management standpoint?

BrandBourg’s project management was a little hard to follow; it wasn’t very clear what they would deliver, at what time, and what we were paying for. I am not the best at project management either, so I am particularly picky on this point. Still, they were very responsive to feedback. We communicated via email, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BrandBourg is an expert in branding architecture and brand merging; they really know what they do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

BrandBourg's communication about project management needed improvements. It would have been great if they had communicated clear deadlines and provided us with detailed invoices.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ask for a clear budget and schedule.
