BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and software lead at VectorizeMove. We have products that are based on the technology that we invented. I’m responsible for everything related to software.

Our first product is called Walkbeat Horses, which analyzes the performance and health of horses. We sell it to horse trainers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with The bond?

We had feedback from our customers on how to improve our app solution. We needed to get all the requirements and ideas from them into designs to develop the app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The bond helped us to create all the UX designs for the app. They used Figma to create the design. Initially, they helped us understand the feedback. The deliverable was screenshots of the app, which we gave to our team for development.

What is the team composition?

We only had one person assigned to the work.

How did you come to work with The bond?

We’re part of an accelerator in Sweden, and they’d worked with The bond for marketing materials, plans, and more. A partner there gave us the referral, so we started a marketing project with them.

Later, we found out in one of our meetings that they knew a lot about UX. We met the UX designer, Emelie (Art Director), and proposed the project to them because she was the perfect match. She was also a horse lover and a rider, so she was also a potential customer. Therefore, she was able to give us her input as well.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The UX project began in May 2021, and it’s done.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It isn’t in the market yet, so it’s hard to determine its impact on conversion rates. However, they managed the output from the very complex requirements of our customers. We provided complicated reports with graphs, but Emelie helped us to make them readable, understandable, and simple to our users.

Moreover, we’ve shown the app to our users and potential customers, and they all liked it.

How did The bond perform from a project management standpoint?

The project management was more on their side. We had regular meetings and provided input when we needed to. We used Figma for project management as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They also did marketing, which helped because those things were connected. The way the app was presented to our users was very close to the marketing strategy.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When it comes to design, it’s challenging to do structure project management as we do in software, but they conducted that part pretty well.

On the other hand, not all the designs in Figma were readable by the developers. Sometimes we had to go into the design and use strategies to see the positioning or color, especially with the spaces in the UI. We needed to make our own assumption because we couldn’t get that information from Figma. It could be that the tool was limited, but it also could be that they created it without the developer in mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Find the right person for your project. Also, be very clear on your expectations from the beginning so you don’t have any surprises when it comes to how much time they have available.
