Datup is a startup that helps companies to optimize their supply chain process using AI to reduce inventory, improve cash flow and reduce stockouts. The scope aims to develop a solution called Alaia on AWS Bedrock to enhance and differentiate Datup's value proposition that facilitates customer interaction with their solution, the interpretation of results, and the generation of high-value
insights by leveraging LLMs and GenAI. This solutions support their customers in resolving queries about supply chain concepts, best practices, and, most importantly, to offer specific insights regarding the information provided by them.

At the kickoff the project manager outlined the responsibilities of both the Consultant (Binbash LLC) and the Client (Datup). This includes tasks such as clarifying requirements, providing feedback, reviewing deliverables, and attending meetings. 

• The Consultant delivered components and present them in detail during biweekly "Demo Delivery Sessions". This provides us a regular opportunity to review progress and provide feedback.
• The Consultant developed and test deliverables in an internal environment before replicating them in the Datup's repositories with our feedback and collaboration.
• The task management was handled through Jira platform. Being the Datup's project management tool.
• The Consultant was responsible for providing necessary documentation associated with each deliverable, including the deployment DevOps , binbash Leverage documentation, and README files.
• The SOW planned a schedule with a start date of 09/15/2024 and an end date of 12/15/2024, including a couple of additional weeks in January 2025 to refine some details of the deliverables.

• Binbash strongly favors the adoption of IaC to provision every AWS resource as code. This commitment to automating infrastructure management using Terraform suggests a modern and efficient approach that promotes consistency, repeatability, and version control of the infrastructure.
• Binbash's delivery methodology is well-defined, involving initial development and testing in a generic environment, followed by collaborative implementation in the Client's infrastructure with regular "Demo Delivery Sessions". This phased approach with built-in client feedback loops appears designed to mitigate risks and ensure alignment with Datup's needs. The expectation that the Client's engineering team will progressively take ownership of the solution also demonstrates a focus on long-term sustainability and knowledge transfer.
• Binbash addressed Datup's need to migrate their existing GenAI solution to AWS Bedrock, including the incorporation of advanced foundation models and embedding models for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). • A more structured knowledge transfer plan with specific topics, target audience (Datup's engineering team), and delivery methods could have been defined within the SOW. This would provide a clearer roadmap for enabling the Datup's team to progressively take ownership of the solution.

It was a tricky situation with our contract to provide part-time services - because the need is continually changing. I think Juan was able to navigate our asks very well and I've never had an issue with deadlines with him - he usually was early!

Two key jobs have been completed for us:
First job: A continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment was implemented on AWS, using Terraform, S3 and CloudFormation. This has allowed us to significantly improve processes with the development team and optimize production environments, facilitating the transition through the different environments: development, QA and production.

Second job: A thorough review of our AWS root account was carried out, covering aspects of security, user management, permissions and solution design. As a result, schemes and improvements were generated that strengthen security and provide notifications, allowing us to maintain more effective control of the account in areas such as security, budget and resource utilization.

The results obtained in the first project reduced billing costs and deployment times for applications, as well as avoiding server maintenance.

The second project led to better control of billing costs with an effective reduction of more than 15%.
