My company builds flexible project teams to support creative and advertising work for external brands. We work like an agency, but we utilize flexible teams mostly on a freelance basis.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BEWYRD has worked on both social content and paid advertising assets for YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. They’ve created animated videos for these platforms. We’ve collaborated on creating wireframes, and they’ve taken direction from there. 

What is the team composition?

I’ve only worked directly with two people, namely Marcel (Founder & Creative Director) and Wouter (Project & Strategy Manager). They have a larger team behind the scenes composed on supporting designers. 

How did you come to work with BEWYRD?

BEWYRD applied to our talent network several years ago. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2018, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

On average, we’re seeing under one cent for cost per engagement for the video they’ve produced, which is truly strong. We’ve achieved 75% video views — this means that people want to watch what they create.  

How did BEWYRD perform from a project management standpoint?

I truly like working with BEWYRD. They’ve been flexible and have good ideas. The team has delivered work within reasonable timeframes. Over the last year, we’ve refined our work processes even more, making collaboration easier for both our teams; it’s been easier for them to scope out their work, and it’s been easier for us to manage their creative outputs that go to our stakeholders. 

Overall, the experience has been great. They continue to improve and are proactive in coming up with suggestions. To communicate, we use Slack and emails. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creative approach continues to get better and better. The team takes feedback well, and what they’re producing now has extremely high quality. BEWYRD works with limited brand assets, but they’ve been creative in using those assets in different ways. They make new things out of them, and that’s truly impressive. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. I don’t have any complaints. When things get sticky, the challenges don’t stem from the BEWYRD team; they stem from the client’s side because we’ve had challenging client timelines. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Prepare a focused creative brief for BEWYRD. That way, they won’t spend too much time thinking of concepts. 

For context, we have a production team that develops concepts. BEWYRD’s team has collaborated with us to build these concepts for the end client. This has led to greater efficiency for us. If we did otherwise, we’d have spent several rounds just on creating concepts with BEWYRD. 

However, if you’re looking for help with creative concepts, their team can also help you with that — just be ready to pay for extra time.

I am the marketing director for a technology and IoT company in the bicycle industry. We provide connectivity, anti-theft,  and GPS tracking technology for electric bikes.

What challenge were you trying to address with BEWYRD?

We needed a professionally made video to show off our new product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We partnered with BEWYRD to create a two-minute, high-resolution product explainer video. Our product is quite complicated, so we needed a simplified way of presenting it to potential clients and customers. 

We already had a concept in mind of how the animation — and the video as a whole — should look like, and we relayed those ideas to their team. I provided some input, but they really flushed out the concept and added their own creative spin to it. They developed the creative process and the mood boards, and they handled preproduction to postproduction and editing.

The video featured some live-action stock footage, but it predominantly consisted of 3D renderings of our product. We highlighted the features, benefits, and functionality of our product.

We had two main contacts, and there were at least 1–2 more people working in the background.

How did you come to work with BEWYRD?

I looked around for companies that were producing the kind of video that I wanted, and BEWYRD stood out. Their work was creative and of top quality, and their past projects had the style, feel, and concept that we were looking for. We thought they were a good fit and decided to reach out to them via their website.

How much have you invested with them?

It was around £4,500 (approximately $6,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We kicked the project off in August 2021, and we had a relatively slow start but that was mainly due to the timing on our side. The final video was delivered in January 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The video is up on our YouTube channel, and we have used it extensively across our website, social media pages, and events. We have even sent copies to potential clients to explain what our product is about, and they’ve found that the video simplifies and makes our concept understandable. 

Since publishing it on our site, we’ve seen an uptick in our traffic. We have around 10,000 views on the video so far, and we continue to receive positive comments via YouTube, LinkedIn, and other social media. We’ve been able to gain the attention of engineering and production heads from various bicycle companies as well. I’m happy with the numbers, and working with BEWYRD was a great decision.

How did BEWYRD perform from a project management standpoint?

BEWYRD was really good. As a relatively small startup, we are pretty chaotic and wanted to make a few changes here and there. We ended up missing a few of our own deadlines, but BEWYRD remained flexible and pretty much delivered on time. 

We didn’t use any project management tools, but we did communicate through email and Zoom. We had weekly and fortnightly calls, and we regularly reviewed our progress together. I really enjoyed working with them The two guys I dealt with were super professional but also friendly, creative, and fun to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BEWYRD was a really creative bunch. They took our ideas and turned them into a more polished concept. We had a highly technical product, but they were able to simplify it and make it appealing, slick, and sexy. Their video made people want to buy something that was not necessarily the most exciting thing in the world.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I really don’t have any constructive feedback for them. They were understanding and responsive, and they knew when to say no. If we had an idea or if we were going in a certain direction, they would tell us if they didn’t think it was a good idea and if it might compromise the final product. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about what you want them to do, and nail down your brief and concept even before you engage their team. It will also save you time to prepare any of your own assets, 3D renders, and imagery.

I'm Head of Content & Activations for Team Vitality, the N.1 esports team in France.

We were in need of two animated videos explaining why esports and blockchain were linked together and why Tezos was the right partnet for Vitality.

From a recommandation through LinkedIn after a post

First video goal was to convince esports fans to believe in blockchain as a true fan experience enhancer. The second one was more a statement explaining why Tezos and Vitality collaboration was the best match to create a web 3 experience for our fanbase. After clearing both script drafts with our client, we did share with Bewyrd our thoughts and vision of how it should look like creatively while taking in consideration budget frame + short deadines (45 days for both videos).

Bewyrd then came back with artwork ideas + storyboards we instantly loved. They also quickly provided music composition + relevant voice over. After very few exchanges, we quickly had the final assets for which we were really satisfied.

We've worked with Wouter as lead project manager + Marcel co founder of Bewyrd and art director + their creative / animation artists. Process was really smooth with regular feedbacks and productive debrief sessions. Their entire team demonstrated a lot of flexibility, creativity, and comprehension of our needs.

Both videos were shared and approved internally and from our client.

Comprehension and very good interpretation of our brief, creative skills of the team, efficiency in production process, and all of this in a competitve and fair rate. I wish every company could behave like this ;)

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not as far as I'm concerned.

I was the supervisor of video and event production at a global IT distribution company.

What challenge were you trying to address with BEWYRD?

At my former company, we did a lot of marketing content, specifically for video marketing. One of the things we created was explainer and motion graphics-based videos, so we hired BEWYRD to create these kinds of videos and expand our in-house team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BEWYRD came in to support our internal team and help us with our video marketing needs. They helped us with the entire production of these videos, except for scriptwriting because we did that internally. They were all graphics-based videos, so we neither required filming nor casting services.

Still, they helped us with the storyboarding, drawing out all of the graphics necessary. Then, they brought those videos to life through animation, and they put the final video together, adding voiceover and music to them.

What is the team composition?

We initially only worked with Marcel (Founder & Creative & Art Director). He then expanded his team, and by the end of our engagement, we usually worked with 2–3 people from BEWYRD on every project.

How did you come to work with BEWYRD?

We posted an ad looking for a freelancer and got several applications. Marcel’s application really stood out because he demonstrated a strong skillset with the work samples he showed us, and he understood our business needs very well.

In addition to showing us sample work, he created a motion graphics explainer video of why to work with him. It was unique and well done, and it showed that he understood the technical aspects of creating a video. Ultimately, it was very easy to communicate with him because we both had the same business needs in mind.

We spent roughly $5,000–$10,000 on the last project we worked on.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with BEWYRD about 4–5 years ago. In my current role, I don’t have video production needs, so I no longer work with them. However, if I ever need video production, they will be the first company I will go to.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

BEWYRD provided us with high-quality video work that satisfied the needs of our executives and put our brand in a good place. We got outstanding internal and external reviews as we shared those videos, which ultimately led BEWYRD to become our go-to provider for video production for many years.

How did BEWYRD perform from a project management standpoint?

Every project used to kick off with a Zoom meeting so that BEWYRD understood the project needs and scope. From there, we typically communicated via email, and they used a tool that allowed us to see the video and leave notes on specific time marks. This tool made it very easy for us to provide feedback and for them to make those changes quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the aspects that differentiated BEWYRD from other production companies was their mindset. The way they presented themselves was focused on why it was a great option to work with them instead of focusing on their past work. Additionally, they understood our end goal very well, which made it very easy to communicate with them.

Another great aspect of them was the quality of their work. Whenever I got deliverables from them, I very rarely had much feedback, whereas when I worked with other companies, we used to go through 4–5 rounds of revision. BEWYRD did a great job asking the right questions to ensure that what they delivered was in line with what we were looking for. When working with tight deadlines and small budgets, getting things done correctly the first time around is very important.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have a lot of constructive feedback for BEWYRD. Our initial hurdle was finding a communication style appropriate for both of us, but once we got that aligned, everything else was smooth sailing.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Leverage their expertise and fully trust their creative ideas because they bring excellent suggestions to the table to elevate the project above what you initially thought it would be. Don’t try to micromanage the project because they might have suggestions you haven’t thought of.

Head of Marketing at Unnax Payment Systems, a Fintech startup in the Open Banking space based in Barcelona, Spain.

For what projects/services did your company hire BEWYRD, and what were your goals?

We hired Bewyrd to produce an original motion graphics video presentation of Unnax, outlining our value proposition and product offering, to be circulated digitally in marketing campaigns.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We spoke to three potential vendors and Bewyrd made the best proposal in terms of creative vision, timeline for execution, and cost. They also had experience producing videos for similar companies to ourselves (technology startups) and their portfolio was of high quality.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We produced a preliminary script for Bewyrd and shared some marketing materials detailing our value proposition and the main messages and themes we wanted to communicate through the video.

We then went through a couple of feedback rounds where the team produced and refined the video concept down to one we were happy with and began production work. Through production, Bewyrd shared sketches, storyboards, and stillframes of the different scenes that made up the video and iterated on them where changes were needed.

After the final animation was delivered, Bewyrd managed the selection of a VO artist to record the voiceover, presenting us with numerous options and handling recording and adding sound and music.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

Marcel Sterk, founder of the studio, was our main point of contact. Feedback was quick and communication was good.

The video was well received within the organization by the C-suite and has been featured prominently in marketing campaigns for Unnax.

Project management was done via email, with scheduled updates on the status of the project and materials shared when milestones were hit. Delivery was timely and without incidents.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Creative vision and overall quality of work. Marcel came up with the concept for the video (a key unlocking multiple doors, each representing a branch of the company's product offering) himself, based on our script.

No complaints.

I am the Head of Marketing at the EnAccess Foundation. EnAccess funds open innovation in energy access.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire BEWYRD, and what were your goals?

We needed a short video that we could use to describe what we do and why we do it. I specifically wanted a simple, animated video with no voiceover and no overpowering music (so that it could be easily viewed with the volume off). My main goal was to have a sort of "video calling card," something that could be easily shared on social media and used in conferences.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I put out the word via my LinkedIn page, hoping my network would provide me with a personal recommendation. I used to work in advertising and video production, so I was fairly sure I could use word-of-mouth to find the right partner. In the end, BEWYRD approached me with a no-pressure meeting, and I was impressed with their portfolio.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video did such a good job of getting our message across that I decided to use it as our homepage hero image, which means it's been viewed tens of thousands of times. While we may swap it out for a different homepage hero soon, it did a wonderful job getting the message across and we plan to use it for at least another year or longer - for a short branding video to have such lasting power is quite special.

I was truly impressed with the ease of communication and I could see that their *internal* communication was also very clear. They stuck to every deadline, often times delivering even ahead of schedule. Total professionals and also very friendly and nice people (which is incredibly important), who made me feel as though this project was as important to them as it was to me.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It's worth noting that they had the ability to solve problems quickly and with creativity. When I was giving the sort of feedback like "something about this doesn't feel right, I'm not sure if it's over here, or over there - but there's something bugging me" - basically the kind of feedback that is hard to work with and unclear because I wasn't able to really articulate how I wanted to see it changed - Marcel was able to really spot exactly what I was talking about and say "I know how we can solve that." and it worked!

This was truly only a positive experiance.

We specifically were looking for creatives specialized in motion graphics and animation. We chose Marcel (Founder, Creative & Art Director) because he was responsive, fairly priced, and creative. Plus, his portfolio featured the type of animation that worked for branding and audience.

We provided a full script and creative brief to Marcel. After they had time to do their initial review, we met to discuss the direction and ultimate distribution channels — to provide full context. Then they pitched a few visual concepts and moved forward with a storyboard. They established check-ins at various stages, such as confirming the animations style, choosing the voiceover talent, or reviewing branding, etc. When the first draft version was completed, we had time to review and provide feedback.

We worked with Marcel and Wouter (Project & Strategy Manager), and they were very open to feedback at each stage of the creative process.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The teamlancing video in particular debuted an entirely new concept to the marketing world and gig economy. It's the top ranked video for the term, which will only grow in popularity.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They're so easy to work with, and they continually offered creative ideas to elevate our own.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As there was a huge time zone difference between us and them — 9 hours — perhaps mapping out the best blocks of time for availability through an app like Calendly or something similar.
