Specifically, we found that during the interviewing process, Dan's focus on aligning responses with the project goals occasionally made it challenging to capture organic and spontaneous responses from participants. 
Although we appreciated his dedication to ensuring that the interviews aligned closely with the project objectives, we believe that allowing for more fluid and natural conversations could have added an extra layer of authenticity to the final video. However, despite this minor limitation, our overall experience with Dan Bewley Productions was excellent. Dan's expertise, professionalism, and commitment to our project were evident throughout, and we were consistently impressed by the quality of his work. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with him and are highly satisfied with the final outcome of the project.

Many of the guests at our annual fundraising gala are new contacts who are unfamiliar with our work. We needed a video to provide an emotional connection between our clients (our work) and our guests (our donors). The goal was to create a video that positioned our agency as the place youth turn for immediate help and for hope for a better future. Additionally, the goal of the video was to encourage guests at our gala to give generously to support our work highlighted in the video.

I was familiar with Dan's excellent work with other organizations. When one of his video campaigns for a similar agency won PRSA's prestigious Silver Link Award, I knew we needed to at least talk to Dan. His planning process utilizing a workshop (that included all decision-makers) made us confident we were making the right choice.

We started with a workshop to identify our goals, must haves, and must not haves. We discussed how the video might be used, not only for a single event but also for broader purposes. A few days later, Dan offered a proposal with multiple options at different price points. We chose an option and began discussing next steps.

We moved quickly into production. After making the agreed upon number of edits, the video went to post-production for audio mixing and color grading. The final video was delivered ahead of deadline.

We worked with the owner/video producer, Dan. The feedback process was smooth and painless. We stuck to the number of edits mutually agreed upon. He delivered high quality work as promised.

The former client featured in the video was quite shy and hesitant about sharing her story. This created a challenge for the video production team to create the story we needed to reach our goals while also making the featured client feel comfortable while respecting her boundaries. Ultimately, the final product met its goals and the featured former client was happy with her portrayal.

Communication was steady, meeting all needs without being overwhelming or too time consuming. The project was managed as described in our initial planning workshop. The process was smooth and completed on time and within budget. Dan's communication with our featured youth and with numerous other participating youth was positive and encouraging. He brought out their best.

Everything was so well thought out and executed just as well. The entire process was professional and manageable.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wish we would have had more time for follow-up interviews with the featured client. But that was my fault for starting the project so late. The production team delivered an excellent product despite an unusually tight timeframe.

I’m the chief development officer for Family & Children’s Services, a 501c3 fundraising organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma, providing mental health and addiction services and treatments. What was the scope of their involvement?

Bewley Productions helped us produce the informational video we needed to spread our message at our largest fundraising event. First, we told them the story's premise, and they helped us develop our idea further to convey our message. Then, they hired the actors, handled the entire video shoot, edited the video, and ultimately delivered the final product. They were in charge of everything.

We spent around $14,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together at the end of January 2022, and Bewley Productions delivered the video at the end of February 2022, a week before our event, which was March 5th, 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Bewley Productions delivered a great final product, and we got great results. So far, we’ve shown our video twice. On the first showing, we raised $109,000, so our investment was well worth it. We also showed this video at a United Way state visit. Although it wasn’t a fundraising event, our video was very impactful, and everyone loved the message. We will show the video again on June 3rd, 2022, at another event we’re having.

Bewley Productions’ project management was great. They were very professional and provided us with what we wanted. Additionally, they were very easy to work with, making edits and collaborating with us to ensure that we were getting the end product we needed. We handled the entire project via email and phone calls, although the actual video shooting was in person.

We needed to effectively tell a soldier's story. This story needed to include the soldier's upbringing, time in the service, wife and children, medical and financial struggles, and how Soldier's Wish was going to meet those needs and make a positive impact. This required editing hours of video content down to about two minutes.

It was imperative to tell the story in that amount of time in order to keep in the timeline with our program and not lose the audience's attention. The story also had to be told in a way that would appeal to the audience's emotions, compelling them to want to help. The video also needed to be something that we could use in the future as an educational tool for our online audience.

I was familiar with Dan from his past work and recommendations from other nonprofits who were please with his skillset and storytelling abilities.

The video footage was sent to Dan. He edited the footage down and created a 2-3 minute story. He sent me the draft to review. I reviewed it and then we talked through some thing. I had some minor changes. He quickly made those changes and sent the final version for review. Everything looked great - the video told the emotional story and the music, soundbites, and pictures all flowed perfectly.

I worked with Dan. We were on a very tight deadline. Dan was willing to work us in to his busy schedule. He worked with our timeframe and was able to deliver the video by the due date. He managed the project and all stages of production very well, making my part in the process extremely easy.

We showed the video during the program at our annual fundraising gala. The video preceded a large heck presentation to the soldier featured in the video. The audience was very moved by the story and the presentation and overall program was a huge sucess! We raised over $100k net at that event, and I think this video was part of the reason we were able to raise that amount.

Bewley Productions can take raw footage and your end goal to create an impactful story. I'm confident that Dan is an expert in his field. He provides excellent advice while also listening to your needs and suggestions.

Because of our tight timeline, we had to outsource our videographer. I believe that if Dan had the opportunity to meet the soldier and take the video footage himself, then he possibly could have told an even better story. That being said, he was able to tell the story we needed and generate the results we desired. We were very pleased with his services and the product we received.
