I recently completed the "Effortless Communicator" professional course with Betterworks Asia in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The day covered a refelction our current communication styles, how and why we think the way we do - through an exploration of DISC categorization and how we can best reflect and overcome common pitfalls. Wonderfully insightful, plenty of interaction and experience with others on the group, and left me with a better understanding of who I was as an individual and how I can communicate more effectively.

Awarness of pitfalls in assumptions, DISC personality survey and how I can collaborate with others and post-course follow up and training with partners.

Over the course of 10 personalized coaching sessions, Thijs guided me through a structured development journey focused on leadership, communication, and strategic growth. Each session combined practical tools with deep reflection, helping me better understand my strengths, challenges, and growth areas.

Key deliverables included:

• A Core Competency Matrix that mapped out my existing strengths and areas to develop, giving me a clearer picture of my professional profile.

• Stronger Presence with Management: Following Thijs’s negotiation preparation, I successfully engaged in meaningful conversations with management, which led to increased visibility and influence at the leadership level.

Thijs demonstrated excellent project management throughout the engagement. Each session was clearly planned in advance, with mutual agreement on the next session’s focus and schedule. He was highly organized, ensuring that we maintained steady momentum across the 10 coaching sessions.

Thijs consistently showed up at least 5 minutes early for every session, which reflected his professionalism and respect for my time. He was always well-prepared, responsive to my evolving needs, and flexible when deeper topics emerged during our discussions. His ability to adapt while still delivering structured outcomes made the experience highly effective and reliable.

Rather than following a rigid structure, he tailored each session to my specific context and needs, using practical exercises that were directly relevant to my challenges and goals. This adaptability made every session feel purposeful, engaging, and impactful.

From my perspective, there aren’t any areas for improvement at this time. The experience was smooth, well-structured, and highly valuable from start to finish. Thijs delivered exactly what I needed, and I felt supported throughout the entire coaching journey.

I'm a senior account executive at Amazon Ads, which provides full-funnel advertising solutions across Amazon's platforms and partners. We use machine learning and first-party data to help brands reach customers and measure campaign impact effectively.

What challenge were you trying to address with Betterworks Asia?

We needed help training and developing people in senior sales roles. Our specific goals were to shift from product pusher to strategic advisor, master executive influence techniques, and elevate deal scope and ambition.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Betterworks Asia has facilitated in-person training sessions for us. The team has provided pitch exercise materials, including a four-minute structured pitch presentation, full presentation materials for deeper review, and a clear customer challenge, Amazon solution, and commercial value framework. They've also provided action planning outputs, including an individual next steps document, a personal commitment card for upcoming deals, and structured reflection notes from pitch feedback sessions.

Additionally, Betterworks Asia has provided a post-workshop deliverable, including an implementation plan with specific actions to apply learnings to real deals. All deliverables are practical, deal-specific outputs we can immediately use in live customer conversations.

We started working with them in January 2025, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the workshops are still ongoing, we'll evaluate and define the results at a later stage. However, as an attendee in one of the sessions with 10 senior colleagues, I was able to immediately adopt and leverage the training into our client conversations. We also obtained a great framework for personal recap and continuous improvement.

Moreover, after bringing and discussing real live pitches and cases to the training, I successfully reworked and adjusted my client pitch.

Mr Thijs from Betterworks Asia provided in-person communication training for me along with a group of diverse participants as a part of ViCo Professional Development Course. The training covered the main principles of communication, how to connect with anyone around you, different communication styles and how to adapt to them, a simple step process to get to the heart of the matter every time, and how to communicate with more confidence.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I left the course not only more confident but also equipped with tools to build stronger relationships and communicate with clarity and impact. I’ve started applying these tools in my conversations, and I’m noticing more clarity in my communication. My colleagues have complemented me on my conversation style; they’ve immediately noticed that I’m paying more attention to my body language, tone, and words while communicating and that I’m able to capture most of the information from listening. Overall, my personal performance has been better.
