What challenge were you trying to address with Beetroot?

We wanted a partner to help optimize our WordPress website and corresponding projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed and created our website after we sent them our content. They had full control in terms of color schemes and themes. They also continue to complete separate IT tasks for us.

What is the team composition?

I serve as project manager and work with two team members.

How did you come to work with Beetroot?

One of our team members had worked with Beetroot in the past, so we decided to give them a try. We chose to work with them because their pricing was cheaper than our local vendors.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began our project in June 2016, and are still currently working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The team's efficiency is beneficial because it enables us to outsource projects to them with confidence. Their WordPress development projects have been reliable and functional thus far.  

How did Beetroot perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via email, Slack, and video meetings, depending on the situation. Their entire team works remotely from Ukraine.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s been very easy and convenient to work with them. We've had no difficulties arise, which is especially impressive since we work in separate countries. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not that I can think of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I think it’s important to come to Beetroot with an open mind and try not to have every aspect of your project figured out beforehand.

I’m a manager at my company. We work on mergers and acquisitions, supply chain activities, and market investigation to help Swedish companies establish their business in Asia, mainly China.

What challenge were you trying to address with Beetroot AB?

We were helping a Norwegian company establish a production data system for the traceability of the production from raw materials to finalized products. We needed a programmer to help them build the system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve used Beetroot AB to build the system for our clients in green energy. We started the project by explaining the needs, and Beetroot AB engaged with their developers. We discussed how we saw the platform we were building, and they initiated their consultants to help us develop the system.

The team has built the software from scratch using Django. The system’s main purpose is to store certification for all raw materials. We’re using an AI motor to identify the traceability in the documentation and connect it automatically in production to save time.

Beetroot AB is currently out of project development; they’re only doing maintenance now. We know Beetroot AB is good for mobile applications, which would be an interesting option for the global integration of the system. We’re looking into using them again for development.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 4–5 people, but we’re only in contact with two developers.

How did you come to work with Beetroot AB?

I found them through a friend in common; my colleague recommended them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2022, and they completed the development in August 2023. However, the relationship is ongoing because they’re still offering maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our group and customers are very pleased with the project; it’s a success story. Beetroot AB has delivered a high-quality product and excellently fulfilled the customer's needs. The traceability has succeeded from day one, and we haven’t lost any data during production.

How did Beetroot AB perform from a project management standpoint?

The quality of their project management has been excellent. They worked on development during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we had a special situation in China with the lockdown. Beetroot AB managed to deliver high-quality conditions, which was extraordinary. They kept a high pace while building the system, didn’t lose any data, and caught the idea of what we were trying to do.

Although we overrun the budget, the client understood that we needed it. In general, they hold themselves within the budget. We typically communicate through emails and daily Microsoft Teams meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their response time is impressive. Beetroot AB quickly responds when there’s a problem, which is crucial during production.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t blame them for this, but the contracts were messy. We spent too much time getting the stakeholders to sign off contracts, which was a bit annoying.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d recommend explaining and setting the contracts from the beginning.

Treat the team that you set up through Beetroot just as you would treat your normal employees and make them a part of your company.

We evaluated a couple of vendors, both other companies based in Ukraine and companies in primarily Philippines. We decided to go with Beetroot mainly due to strong and relevant references that we spoke quite a lot with.

We started the team with three members in February and have continuously added new members throughout the year and we are now 14 team-members.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The data gathered and organized by the team resulted in our main release for the platform during 2019. This resulted both in new deals and a higher renewal rate.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We have had a very good collaboration with Beetroot personnel throughout this project and kept a close dialogue about how to manage and grow the team. We have tried to make the team as integrated as possible with the rest of the company. This means joining in on weekly meetings and visiting the HQ. We have also visited the team frequently to build personal relationships which has made communication easier. On a daily basis slack and video calls have been the main tools for communicating.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They show up for the team, making sure that they have everything, including motivation to manage their tasks. The culture at Beetroot also aligned well with how we like to work ourselves which helped a lot.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We have always had communication around potential areas that could be improved and these have been resolved. Most of these have just been very team-specific issues/challenges.
