I’m the president and executive producer at BX Films, a video production agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Bay Accounting?

They provide bookkeeping and tax services for our business. For a while, we did it all in-house and with a different firm but then transitioned to Bay Accounting after moving locations.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AJ (Owner) has helped set up and reconfigure our QuickBooks account to ensure it aligns with our company’s needs. He provides ongoing support to update our books and make sure everything flows smoothly. Come tax season, he helps us put everything together and submit our paperwork on time. AJ is also available to serve as an advisor for us. He’s helped us find new systems for our payroll and general processes, too. 

What is the team composition?

We work directly with AJ. 

How did you come to work with Bay Accounting?

I believe we found AJ through word of mouth. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2017 and our engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our books are extremely clean, which is exactly what we want when it comes to accounting. Come tax season, everything is successfully taken care of. I have complete faith that everything he’s doing is clean and up to code. We’ve also saved a considerable amount of time by having AJ take care of our taxes and our monthly needs. Everything is streamlined and we’re happy to have more of our time back.

How did Bay Accounting perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re in communication with AJ monthly. Whether he’s doing work directly on the account or we’re using him for advice, we’re in touch pretty regularly. He’s great at communicating frequently and breaking it down for me, who isn’t an expert in these things like him. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Unlike anyone else I’ve seen, AJ stays very updated on changes and reads in-depth about manuals and tax codes. Even though there have been a lot of tax changes over the last few years, he's good at keeping us up to date on everything and is informed. He has a great grasp of what he’s working with.

Aside from that, it’s impressive to see what he’s capable of and how much of the process he’s been able to take over. He’s alleviated a lot of pressure from our plates and it’s been really helpful to work with him. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of any conflict we’ve had, I’d highly recommend him. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get him in early and let him take a look at your entire system. He’ll be able to automate and set up systems for you that you might not know exists. Let him collaborate to make your work better and he’ll set you up for success.
