We hired Axora for the complete enhancements of our music app.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to create a cool music app for people which will give them the opportunity to create and share. And this goal was tightly limited by the deadline.

How did you select Axora?

I reached out to them firstly as they seemed to have relevant knowledge and experience in music mobile apps. After that I made a decision to hire another company to work on the project. In the end i came back to guys from Axora as they were the only team who was capable of doing what i actually needed.

It is a complex mobile app. It is a bit similar to the well-known Voloco music app. Users can record audio/video of them singing, use multiple effects and filters for their voice. Users can explore the inner network of people who create videos, songs or just make some fun using the app. So it is a kind of social network app as well.

What was the team composition?

We worked with the team of iOS developers and a project manager. For most of the time there were 2 developers and a PM. Sometimes they added a 3rd developer to enhance the speed of development as we wanted to finish the app as soon as possible.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app has been recently launched. That’s why there is not enough feedback from users yet. But we collect all the statistics and I believe the app has a huge potential.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was perfect. I always felt that every my message and task will be thoroughly treated by them. I always felt like I could rely on them.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They managed to develop the unbelievably complex functionality just in 2-3 months. I believe it would take years for other teams to develop.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Sure, the app has a lot of new functionality and improvements to add.

We conducted a technical interview with them. It seemed to us that they had deep technical knowledge and they were capable of achieving what we needed.

Developer from Axora was involved in all backend tasks of the project. The technologies used are PHP, Laravel, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, etc. With the help of Axora we reached the big planned update.

We have worked with 2 people: backend developer and account manager who regulated all organisational moments and payments.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

All measurable outcomes are under NDA but i should say that the project is showing an increase in users and more stable user experience.

They were extremely agile and client-oriented. Their developer was a trustworthy person whom we often consulted with.

As for timelines and communication tools –– we used Slack and Jira. I can’t say much about their management style as the majority of it was on our side.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Even being under serious pressure they managed to deliver results.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I believe no. The collaboration went nice.

How did Axora address the challenges that arose? 

The collaboration went nice but once we had a disagreement. Axora did an amazing job of resolving the conflict and I highly recommend working with them. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength? 

Axora implemented a bunch of new features and fixed current technical issues. It helped us to have an even more stable version of the app and better user experience as a result.

Axora produced poor code and failed to meet deadlines. They also over-charged the client on numerous occasions. The project went poorly.

Vendor produced awful code and never met development deadlines. We noticed vendor over-charged on multiple occasions. When confronted, vendor corrected their billing, but we couldn't trust them after this.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Stay far away. I originally wrote a positive review, not because they did a good job but because I didn't want to harm their business. After finding they cheated and launched a competitor, I feel like I need to help other companies avoid this vendor.

Guys from Axora implemented the next features: offline translation, dark mode, transliteration, subscription. They have worked on OCR and TTS translation, watch app, automated screenshot capture, automated screen capture video and many other things.

I was assigned with a project manager, 2 ios developers and sometimes a PHP developer was used to do some server work.

With the implementation of subscriptions and new features there is an increase in sales and users.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I had an extremely fast everyday response from a PM so it was perfect. Developers worked according to the plan so i believe the project management was effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing is an unbelievable flexibility from developers and PM. There was no problem if i decide to change the course of our work. Also Axora was good in technical side, the communication was perfect.

We chose Axora to work with since their portfolio was very relevant to our goals. Communication was great as well since their manager provided us with a quite detailed roadmap, reasonable costs, and terms.

We made market research from our side and collected all the needed references. After that, in a few calls, we created a technical description together with Axora for the native iOS app and they started to make prototypes. After several iterations MVP was looking great and we decided to go further and add some polish to the product, simultaneously starting another app development - it was a fitness app with a hybrid scheme, part native, part web.

Two managers from our side and a manager from their side - not exactly sure about the size of the dev team, but I suppose that it consisted of 2 devs, a designer, and a manager

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Alll interesting info is under NDA, but we already achieved more than 50k installs since the product launch - benchmarks are all good, so it's a well-created apps.

it was very effective - the process was very transparent, we always understood where we are and the guys provided swift fixes to a few bugs/changes we decided to make. Apps were delivered according to the initial plan with no technical problems.

The planning and the ability to meet the schedule even under pressuring circumstances.

There might be a little more room for the QA in the dev process - right now it was done on our side.
