Skaapwagter is a platform which aims to overcome the constraints encountered with counting animals on your farm. The platform aims to address specific aspects such as human count errors while decreasing time spent on these activities through automation. With our project we aim to put the control back into the farmer’s hands. The goal is to identify, count and classify different animal species by making use of using machine learning.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

This project aims to provide a suitable platform that will automate the process of identifying, counting and classifying specific species of wild animals. The platform aims to improve existing methods of animal counting by making use of advanced technology. 
The project aims to provide a end-to-end game counting solution to mitigate current game counting challenges and to lower surveying time and costs. Technical Challenges – False/Positives, Size of Data be uploaded/analysed (Hosting Fees, Large amounts of Data required for DNN, Thermal Emissivity (Animal Energy Radiation), Complexity of Animal Classification, Double- Accounting (Accuracy), Hardware Standardisation.

Axcelerate AI worked with WildEarth.TV to ideate, develop, deploy and test a Computer Vision application that actively monitored a live wildlife stream and processed that video into scenes [sightings], detected animals in each sighting, produced thousands of portraits of each animal, selected the "best" portrait and identified [classified] the animal into a database of animals.
