I'm the co-founder and head of technology for an advertising technology company in the digital video and linear television space.

What challenge were you trying to address with AktaryTech?

We needed to fill a staff augmentation role for frontend development work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AktaryTech provided a few frontend development resources, embedding with our internal teams to assist in developing our platform. They built out screens, workflows, and some of the UI, using React Native, JavaScript, and other technologies. 

What is the team composition? 

We worked with 2–3 developers, who collaborated with our team in two-week sprints.

How did you come to work with AktaryTech?

I knew David (Founder, AktaryTech) through the Node.js meetup scene in Los Angeles.

How much have you invested with them?

We've invested between $200,000–$300,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from around July 2018–January 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The additional support AktaryTech provided helped get our platform ready for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). They helped us onboard a new batch of business through the work we were able to demo at CES. We already have a great in-house team, but AktaryTech was able to provide resources on par with the quality of our own staff. 

How did AktaryTech perform from a project management standpoint?

Since I didn't hear anything from my team, I know AktaryTech's project management skills were adequate. They used Jira to track work, but also embedded with our team on site. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They hit the ground running and were effective from their first sprint.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not particularly. One person on their team wasn't a great cultural fit for us, but it didn't cause any issues and he stopped working on our account at some point.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Try to feel out whether their team is a good cultural fit the same way you would if they were going to be joining the team as an employee.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We worked with AktaryTech to explore and get robust consultancy for an initial coin offering (ICO). We also worked with AktaryTech to supplement the capacity of our development team, particularly in the area of blockchain development for our B2B supply chain mapping (SaaS) platform as well as our D2C (PaaS) platform.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Developed the full ICO strategy on behalf of our company. Scoped and worked on the core infrastructure using Typescript, Javascript and WebGL for our geospatial data mapping platform.

We met with their CTO who walked us through their timeline for delivery at the very outset. There was a dedicated project manager and the founder and CEO directly met and communicated with us to keep us updated on developments. They continuously responded to our needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were passionate about building products for startups and helping to shape ideas into reality. They have been more than a developer, a true partner to us, even supporting with fundraising. Equally, they built with minimal reliance, considering easy adoption by our developers when selecting a tech stack.

Are there any areas for improvement or something AktaryTech could have done differently?

We had a first-class experience with AktaryTech. There is nothing we would have liked to be any different.
