Web App Dev for Property Startup
the project
“Our whole experience with Airdev has been positive. If I could give them 10 stars, I would."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a property startup company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Airdev?
We needed help building a web application to make it easier for us to close deals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We discussed our requirements for the app with Airdev, and they submitted a proposal that met our needs. Then, they built the web application from scratch using Bubble. They created a feature that allows us to close deals more efficiently. They integrated Google Maps and APIs and linked the application to Stripe. They are also responsible for the design and continue to host and maintain the application.
We plan to launch the application in August 2022, but they have already delivered a totally functional product.
What is the team composition?
I work with a designer, developer, project manager, and a company liaison is helping us with the launch phase.
How did you come to work with Airdev?
I found Airdev on LinkedIn.
How much have you invested with them?
We have invested around $30,000 in the partnership.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2022, and the engagement is ongoing as we prepare to launch in August 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t launched the application yet, but it functions as we want it to. The APIs and Google Maps are integrated, which is what we wanted. Their design work is excellent. Our whole experience with Airdev has been positive. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
How did Airdev perform from a project management standpoint?
They are excellent in terms of project management. They’re very communicative, forward-thinking, and results oriented. They’re knowledgeable and know exactly what they’re doing. They’re always there for me when I have questions and can anticipate my needs.
We’ve worked with other development partners in the past, and Airdev stands out regarding expertise, delivering on time, and working within our budget. We use Coda to keep track of the project's progress and their internal platform to maintain communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I am impressed that Airdev built a functional product within our budget and time frame. They have been honorable and transparent throughout the development process, and always mean what they say.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have nothing they could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice would be to be as specific as possible when communicating your project requirements.

HP, Lenovo, CVS, Chevron, Y-Combinator startups, McKinsey & Co, Bridgespan Group, Teach for America, The Rockefeller Foundation, Dividend Finance

Client Case Study: Dividend Finance
Today, Dividend Finance is a leading national provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient financing solutions to property owners.
But in 2014, it was a startup struggling to get its digital platform off the ground. It had started building an original product using a team of traditional software developers. However, after 6 months of development, Dividend had spent much of its budget and still didn't have a viable product. Feeling the pressure from burning a lot of time and cash on a solution that didn’t work, Dividend changed course. It partnered with Airdev to launch a minimum viable product (MVP) of the platform using the no-code tool Bubble – in just 6 weeks.
The results?
- Billions of dollars of loans have now been processed through the app
- Tens of thousands of reps interact with the system every day
- Hundreds of millions of dollars in equity financing have been raised
"Airdev has built a system that's allowed us to scale to hundred of millions of dollars of laons per year, with tens of thousands of reps. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to develop that core product nearly as quickly as we have." - Phil Meachin, VP of Program Management at Divided Finance

Client Case Study: Cadence Translate
Cadence Translate is a leading provider of language services to the global business and investment community.
Founded in 2014 with the goal to connect the private sector with world-class translators, Cadence Translate experienced rapid growth over a short period of time. By 2018, it had reached 2,500 professional linguists and realized that Salesforce’s per-seat cost model would become too burdensome at scale.
To find a more growth-friendly alternative, Cadence partnered with Airdev to reduce stress and cost by connecting Salesforce data to a custom no-code gig portal for thousands of its expert translators.
The results?
- 400% increase in jobs processed per month
- 3-fold growth in company revenue
- Longer lasting relationships with interpreters and clients
“In just weeks, Airdev created an elegantly streamlined version of our previous gig management platform, built on top of our Salesforce data. The result became an instant hit with our network of linguists, while dramatically reducing the time we spend on ongoing maintenance.” - Matt Conger, CEO of Cadence

Client Case Study: HP and Consenna
Consenna is a UK-based consultancy working with global tech manufacturers to design and deploy promotional campaigns.
In 2020, HP hired Consenna to support a program it runs to help schools get credit when trading up old equipment. This program, HP for Education, requires tight coordination between lots of different groups (i.e. schools, resellers, service providers, etc.).
To manage activities between these groups and meet its deadline, Consenna partnered with Airdev to build a custom no-code marketplace solution to save time and money, and to create the best experience for schools – in only 3 months.
The results?
- A multi-sided marketplace coordinating efforts between schools, resellers, service providers, and administrators
- A tool offered to 30k schools across the UK
- Consenna received additional request for work from HP
“We pride ourselves on going the extra mile, and having to rely on developers to deliver was incredibly stressful to us in the past. Taking a project like this that used to take us 6 months, and being able to launch in 6 weeks has been invaluable to us and our clients.” -Douglas Jeffrey, Chairman at Consenna

Client Case Study: Bolster
Bolster is a Design and Build Firm reinventing the home renovation experience. It uses proprietary data and technology to help homeowners quantify the true costs of their individual projects.
In 2019, Bolster sought to create 3 different custom tools to help serve its stakeholders, from realtor partners to potential homeowner clients. Notably, it wanted these products to be available within a matter of weeks.
To do this, Bolster partnered with Airdev to develop 3 custom no-code web-based apps on Bubble in just 6 weeks per app.
The results?
- Potential homeowner clients and realtor partners could estimate renovation costs and manage their projects without risk
- $2.8M in funding raised for Bolster
“Airdev’s team sets them apart. They are extremely knowledgeable, but at the same time, they are friendly and approachable. I’m not a tech employee, but the team never made me feel like I couldn’t understand what they were working through. Airdev presented everything in a way that was easy for me to grasp. It felt like we were truly a team.” - Nicole Kaes VP of Marketing at Bolster

Client Case Study: Teach for America
Teach for America is a non-profit organization working to close the educational achievement gap by enlisting recent college graduates to teach in low-income communities.
In 2015, its Bay Area regional office sought to replace its hodgepodge of spreadsheets, email blasts, and shared folders with a new workflow system that would make it easier for staff to support active teachers. It wanted a custom web application, but believed this was out of reach due to the cost and time of traditional software development.
However, that changed when it was discovered that the no-code tool Bubble could design what they wanted for a fraction of the cost of traditional development. In 2015, Teach for America partnered with Airdev to build a custom no-code customer relationship management (CRM) tool that has been able to expand over the years to do much more.
The results?
- A custom CRM tool built in just 4 weeks for staff to seamlessly support active teachers in the Bay Area
- The expansion of the CRM tool through the addition of new platform “portals” to support corps members across every stage of their journey (e.g. onboarding, training, and placement)
“Airdev has helped our Bay Area region to ditch the spreadsheets in order to better support our teachers. In just one month, we built an internal CRM system to fit our unique data needs and allow coaches to add and review notes on the go, right from their phones.” – Eric Scroggins, Chief Strategy Officer at Teach For America

Client Case Study: Tributi
In 2017, Tributi founders Andrés Vélez and Simón González were fed up with the painful, confusing, and costly process of filing taxes in their home country of Colombia.
“It is common for the preparation of the income statement to be more expensive than the payment of the tax itself, which is not an efficient tax structure.” - Andrés Vélez, Founder and CEO of Tributi.
The founders wanted to build a tax management software like TaxAct and Intuit (which owns TurboTax) to automate and simplify the tax filing process for all South and Latin Americans. Velez and Gonzalez had a clear vision for the product and user experience they wanted to build, they simply didn’t have the background in programming to do it.
To get around the programming barrier, Tributi partnered with Airdev to quickly build and launch a fully functional product on the no-code development platform Bubble.
The results?
- $800k in early investment from players like Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, and Graph Ventures to help grow the startup
- Latin American taxpayers and accountants can now prepare tax returns within 30 minutes, saving them an average of COP$100-$300K (US$100-175) on their tax returns

Client Case Study: Kidsbook.io
Kidsbook.io CEO and Founder David Vitek speaks about how Airdev helped Kidsbook.io launch a two-sided marketplace for booking kids activities in less than 6 weeks.
Airdev specializes in building custom online marketplaces and helped Kidsbook.io refine their product concept, test their hypothesis, and iterate on their product, leading to successful growth of their marketplace.

Custom Software Dev for Content Consulting Agency
“I’m very impressed with their speed of development.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of Branded Content Market. We work with brands and agencies by connecting them with content creators. These content creators help them create content for branded channels in a more streamlined and efficient way.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
We were starting from zero. Currently, when branding agencies are making content, that process is often managed across multiple platforms that don’t sync with each other. So these agencies are managing their work over email, Dropbox links, Google Drive, as well as all these other platforms that don’t communicate or have a purposeful flow.
We wanted to create a centralized workflow system for the business function of managing a content development process. Our objective was to be able to do everything on one single platform. We brought on AirDev so we could work to get to a quick MVP that’d help validate and confirm that creating a process-based workflow for this business function was a viable business solution.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AirDev is helping us create a two-sided marketplace. It’s a web solution built using Bubble. On one side there are brands and agencies that want to develop and have content made for them. On the other side, there are content creators who are photographers and videographers.
The platform has user-profiles and a dashboard where all the transactions are housed. There’s also a workflow environment where a brand or agency can issue a brief. A content creator can review and accept that brief and then upload their content onto the platform.
Then, the rendering agency can review comments after revisions or approve that content. Our platform also handles the licensing or ownership of that content. From a contracting standpoint, Stripe is integrated for payments.
What is the team composition?
I started with a sales associate at the beginning of the engagement but now I primarily work with Ed (Product Director). We’ve worked with Matthew (Product Manager) and David (Partner) as well as Ziyad (Software Engineer) and another engineer.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
Our team has no technology background so we enlisted a technology advisor and told him what we wanted to achieve. Once he had a foundational understanding of what we wanted to do, he recommended we look at no-code solutions.
Our team look at Google’s offering as well as clicked around for various forms as we were trying to understand. We wanted to work with an agency that had existing templates. We came across AirDev and liked their canvas offering. It’d allow us to use a lot of those functions and features that’d cut down on development time and investment.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested close to $70,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing engagement started in December 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Within the last couple of days, our first customers have started using the platform. The fact that they’ve signed up and it's working is great. We wanted to build a product that we’d want to use. Our handful of advisors have provided positive qualitative feedback. It has validated that the work AirDev has done was good.
Our tech advisor expressed that had we gone the traditional coding route, the product would've cost five times what we’ve invested. It’s very reassuring to know that because it shows that we chose the right technology partner in AirDev and the right platform in choosing Bubble. We successfully achieved our goal of rolling out an MVP.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management has been very good. I work a little differently and tend to be more hands-on. I have constant communication with our project managers and engineers. This has worked because I’ve been able to work with the engineer on the dashboard they use for the product roadmap.
AirDev also has a custom dashboard that we’ve transitioned off of onto ClickUp; I use that daily. Or, we’ll often set up Zoom calls or message one another on WhatsApp. If we have business problems that we don’t know how to approach, we bring in the project manager and ask. They’re always able to scope it out in a way that makes sense for our engineers.
We have biweekly strategy sessions with Ed who oversees all AirDev projects at a high-level. He provides direction, best practices, and techniques to achieve our business objectives. Additionally, our project managers are great at managing capacity workflow and scoping needs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m very impressed with their speed of development. There have been few tasks we’ve challenged them with that have taken more than a day for us to see live on the site. AirDev is responsive and great at working in Bubble.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I often don’t know where my capacity goes. When it comes to the tracking of hours worked, I ultimately trust that what they say is what they’re doing. That’s not the biggest problem in the world because as long as there’s progress being made, I’ve developed a sense as to what spend should return us.
There are some complex things that happen on the backend that I have no visibility to. That can eat up say four hours of an engineer’s time but I may think that it should take 15 minutes. Being able to better track capacity is something I’d find of high value.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
State what your expectations are and what you want to accomplish with the working relationship. AirDev will be amenable to that. They’re amenable to any type of working scenario the client wants.
We’ve had two different project managers so over time, we’ve learned how we want to work with AirDev. The way we initially started working with them versus how we are now is different because it’s evolved. AirDev is generally accommodating.

Progressive Web App Dev for Musician Content Platform
“I’m most impressed with their problem-solving skills.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of a video streaming application for musicians. We’re still in the development phase and haven’t launched yet. Once it is live, it’ll be a platform for modern musicians to post content and distribute that content on a subscription revenue model or one-time purchase model. Musicians can also provide creative professional services to their network.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
I didn’t have the time or resources to devote to building out the backend of the platform so I brought on AirDev to develop it for me.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’re building the app from scratch and handling its UI/UX, backend, frontend. I had a version one in mind that has morphed quite a bit throughout the 3–4 months we’ve been working together. AirDev takes my requests and provides feedback on what’s possible versus what I should wait on as far as my budget goes.
The solution is a progressive web app. In the beginning, it’s only going to launch on browser. Ultimately, there will be a mobile app in the future. The goal is to get the platform launched quickly without much of a monetary buy-in as would’ve been in the past. The app will be live in the next month or two.
What is the team composition?
I work with Andrew (Co-CEO), Andre (Project Manager), and Matt (Product Manager).
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I found them through a Google search.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $18,000 thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing engagement started in November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everything has been great. Their team has been very responsive throughout this entire process. They’ve done bug testing to make sure that everything’s in good working order. What’s more, they always answer my questions during the bug testing. AirDev is always receptive when I look to add to the scope. They have a great internal bug management and communication platform. This allows for streamlined conversations about project-related issues and bug testing.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
AirDev always meets their deadlines. When I ask for scope additions, they’re a little slower but that’s because they’re doing research and have to put the time in. They do a good job of keeping me grounded in reality.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m most impressed with their problem-solving skills. There are tons of problems that arise with regard to anything and everything from API connections to the actual functionality of the ecosystem on its own. They’re realistic with their goal setting and let me know what’s possible now versus what will be a possibility in the future. Their team is transparent about how difficult a problem is going to be.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The platform they’ve built proprietarily can be a bit better. They could enhance it to function more like Slack or Asana. It’s a good problem to have because it appears that they’re busy. Bringing on more people would help increase their bandwidth to answer questions from their clientele. Specifically, adding more project managers to field questions from creatives on how to enhance a platform that’s in the current scope of work would be beneficial.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very explicit with your goals. That’ll help them solve your problems quickly. Also, be thorough in how you want things to operate.

Web App & Payment Portal Development for D2C Wine Seller
“They’ve worked to understand my vision.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and president of a company that facilitates e-commerce, direct-to-consumer (D2C) winery sales.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
We hired them to develop a platform with a payment gateway that would allow users to access e-commerce in a clean and friendly way.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AirDev used Bubble to create a dynamic website application that facilitates the payment gateway and the UX. They also added an automated email component; if a certain level is pulled, such as a transaction being completed, an automatic email is sent.
The main deliverable was the custom payment gateway, which AirDev had great experience with. The gateway allows customers to place a transaction and payment directly with a winery associated with the website.
What is the team composition?
I've worked directly with two people, but a team of up to four people has worked on this project.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I was researching the payment gateway Stripe, and AirDev was a development partner on Stripe’s website. I shopped around quite a bit, and AirDev was the most responsive and helpful out of all the developers I spoke with.
How much have you invested with them?
The total is $16,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The initial scoping process began in October 2020, and the build started in December. We mostly wrapped up by January 2021, but there are a few things that I’m still working with them on; it’s a bit of a fluid process because this is such a new concept and platform.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’d judge them against the scoping document we created. They followed that outline and steps to get to the final product. That has been great, as has their responsiveness and timeliness. They’ve provided a lot of creativity in making my thoughts real.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
I’d say 10 out of 10. They actually have their own communication portal. All communication is segmented by various categories, such as new tasks, what is being worked on, and what has been completed. There are subtopics in each of those categories. They center all communication around the portal, and it works really well. They’re very organized.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their responsiveness and open communication have been impressive. They’ve worked to understand my vision. I don’t have much web app development experience, so they really helped me. Sometimes, I’m not sure how to ask for things, but they totally get it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, nothing comes to mind.
Any advice for potential customers?
Come with a clear vision of what you want.

Custom Software Dev. for Online E-Learning Marketplace
"AirDev went above and beyond to assure that we were satisfied."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Rotut is an online marketplace connecting students and tutors. I’m the president of the organization.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
One of my co-founders is a teacher by day and tutors students after school. He wanted a way to get directly connected with students seamlessly, without having to go through multiple steps. None of us are coders, and we were looking around at how to create this technology.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AirDev developed our platform. Tutors and students can create profiles, there’s a filterable database of tutors based on location and specialty, there’s payment processing, and there’s messaging. They built the backend in Bubble, which is a different approach to coding.
What is the team composition?
We worked mainly with the project manager and lead developer. There was a salesperson at the beginning of the process, and I had the opportunity to interact a bit with Vlad (Founder & Co-CEO).
How did you come to work with AirDev?
We were looking for companies that create online marketplaces, and they were one of two companies that popped up in our Google search. The first company was from Europe. They seemed nice and responsive, but it seemed like they weren’t quite able to do what we wanted.
AirDev was from San Francisco, and they were actually able to get on a video call and talk to us. It seemed like what we were looking to build was much more up their alley.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested $7,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We had our first call with AirDev in September 2020, we started the work in October, and the first version of the platform was done on January 6th, 2021. We had the holiday season in that time, so people took off work. It was us that slowed down the process.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We plan to put the product in front of our teacher friends for feedback, but we don’t have any metrics yet.
However, AirDev delivered on the agreed-upon scope of work. Even when we found small things to tweak, they were more than willing to make them. AirDev went above and beyond to assure that we were satisfied.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
My day job is with a technology company, on the operations and management side of things. I know how the process works, and project management was one of the more impressive parts of working with AirDev.
They have an internally-developed system that follows the standard process of agile development, with new, ongoing, and done cards. It seemed like the technology was seamless, and it made things even easier. It was very easy to add comments, take screenshots, and so on.
The responsiveness was excellent, because we could notify the other party about something by adding them to the conversation, similarly to Slack and Basecamp.
What did you find most impressive about them?
AirDev’s compassion stands out. Throughout the process, it felt like we were all on the same team, trying collectively to accomplish the same goal. Their success was ours and vice versa, and we were truly working in tandem together.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There may be growth opportunities for them to take it to the next level. They could offer all the tertiary elements of building a website, like stock photos and domain registration. I had to do all of that with my co-founders. AirDev provided us some links, and they do do some of it.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
The responsiveness of the client directly correlates to how quickly the process goes. It took me a week to respond to some of the things they were asking of us, because of the holidays, and that slowed down the process a bit. I was fine with it, given that it was the holidays. Had I been really responsive, the process would’ve gone even faster.

Software Dev for Software Services Company
"AirDev built a full MVP software that works incredibly well."
the reviewer
the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the co-founder of a software as a service company specialized in managing niche real estate properties.
For what projects/services did your company hire AirDev, and what were your goals?
We hired Airdev to build our MVP (minimum viable product). Our goal was to get a version of the software we could start beta testing and come back to AirDev with additional edits. We are currently testing the software at our first site. AirdDev did an amazing job and we are going to continue using them indefinitely to add new features.
How did you select AirDev and what were the deciding factors?
We selected them based on the quality of their sample projects, cost effectives, and how much we liked the people there. We interviewed ~6 companies specialized in building custom software solutions, and AirDev stood out on all 3.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They used Bubble (a low-code software solution) and integrated some custom code, Stripe, Google Maps, and probably a few other things that I can't remember. We first engaged them in a scoping process (with a refundable deposit! - which no other company offered us). That took a few weeks. We detailed every single detail of the project (timeline/features/cost/etc.) We then had a 5 week process to build out the software. Every week we had a check-in call to review the new portion of the software they built out. They were very responsive and even added new features that were not in the original scope at no charge to us.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with 3 people. Eli (Developer), David (not sure of his title), Vladimir (Co-CEO). We mostly worked with Eli and David who were both absolutely excellent.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
AirDev built a full MVP software that works incredibly well. They went above and beyond and built something sleek and incredibly functional.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We communicated through a custom built portal. They were very responsive on the portal and were available to schedule a call at very short notice. Also there were weekly calls as we previously mentioned.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
High quality product, very responsive, and very easy to work with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing in particular - curious to see how responsive they will continue to be as we add new features / need maintenance (given the main project is done). If they continue their previous trend we will be super happy.

Web Application Dev. for Restaurant Supply App
“The product management resources ended up making our product more well-rounded.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
A friend and I are developing an app solution that’s meant to help restaurants order items across several suppliers more easily. He has experience in operating restaurants, and I work mainly as a product lead. I’m a business partner in this effort.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
I took the requirements involved in creating a solution and translate them over to their team for development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We defined the scope and implementation schedules alongside their project manager and lead developer. From there, they were tasked with building the web app that’s designed to facilitate restaurant orders to their multiple suppliers. At this point, we’ve completed the first phase of development and are planning on testing the product in the near future.
What is the team composition?
Early on, I spoke with Andrew (CEO) about our requirements to see if they would be the right fit for the work. Once we signed a contract with them, I worked most closely with a product manager and lead developer.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I was looking for a simple platform, and Bubble seemed like a good fit for us. AirDev was listed as one of their preferred vendors, so we reached out to them and their competitors. After looking at their past customers and work, we felt that it resembled what we wanted our product to look like. That’s how we made our decision.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $7,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together on the first phase of work from October–November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their attention to detail throughout the project always made me feel comfortable working with them. Because we’re serving small, sometimes volatile, businesses, it’s important that our product handles orders accurately. They approached the testing cycle thoroughly, which is a key indicator for the success of the project as we move forward.
We feel that the product looks clean and is a great first iteration. There are some things we’d love to change, but we couldn’t have asked for anything better in terms of process efficiency.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
They have their own communication portal where we logged cases and bugs. That worked alright, but there were times that I didn’t know they were waiting on me because of the way their portal is set up.
Their team was on time with deliverables, but scoping took a bit longer than I would’ve liked. I understand that they want to get it right early, though.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their product manager’s experience was very impressive. He was crucial in helping me think through the requirements. The product management resources ended up making our product more well-rounded. I was happy to have him aboard. His willingness to collaborate and expertise in the field were really helpful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Initial scoping to build took longer than anticipated. Given their price, I understand it. A smooth knowledge transfer would’ve been beneficial to me, as I intend to hand the management of the platform off to an employee in the future. I would’ve liked a technical handoff.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Work with them to help you figure out what your MVP should look like. At times, I may have oversimplified the build without asking them for things I envisioned first. Don’t be afraid to utilize their resources to help you through the entire MVP process.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of Sweeten Health, an online platform that connects therapists and patients. We’re starting with mental health and speech therapy, but we plan to expand into occupation and physical therapy as well. The focus will be on virtual to start, but eventually we will have a hybrid model that allows patients to find therapists in person as well.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
I needed to put together an MVP for our app to help me validate the market need. I certainly believed that there was a need for something like this, but I needed to put something more tangible in the market to see how it would do.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a web app that features a marketplace where users can view, select and book appointments with a therapist.
The first step of the project was spent laying out exactly what I was looking for. They outlined everything in a scope document, which I was then able to review and sign off on.
The first iteration of the app took a few weeks and they put everything I needed into the system. I then did a lot of beta testing to make sure all the functionality and features worked properly. Now they’re in phase two and are working on implementing my feedback.
What is the team composition?
I worked primarily David (Associate), who was our account manager, and a technical architect who got involved and asked questions when needed.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I talked to a lot of different companies, but many were very expensive. In comparison, AirDev had a very transparent sales process and reasonable pricing. They also had a lot of positive feedback on their reviews.
How much have you invested with them?
I’ve spent $13,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in June 2020 and we’re still working on the app.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app hasn’t launched yet, so we don’t have any metrics on users or retention yet. However, I’ve shown it to a number of vendors and feedback has been positive. The design, colors, and structural layout is warm, welcoming, and easy to understand.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
I appreciated that my project manager knew that I had a budget that I really needed to stay under and helped me prioritize different aspects of the project. He helped me view it from a business perspective and asked the right questions to help me stay on budget.
If there was a delay, it was usually because I asked for more features, and they communicated with me about how that would impact our timeline. At one point, I asked for things outside the scope of work and they outlined what we could and couldn’t do. They were always transparent about what our next steps were.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They understood a lot about the healthcare space and knew what I was trying to build. This helped them reasonably and appropriately challenge my ideas and provide a counter-argument when needed. I really appreciated that feedback because they were able to keep me on scope and on budget. I always felt like they were trying to do what was in my project’s best interest.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I did a lot of the design work, like choosing colors and planning the layout on my own. I don’t think it was actually a part of the scope, so I can’t fault them, but it made the process more difficult for me.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you have the budget for it, bring on a third party for the UX/UI design. That would have helped us out, but we were just building an MVP.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the founder and CEO of a marketplace.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
We wanted to create an MVP of a website to showcase the functionality of the platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AirDev looked into our competitors and assessed consumers’ needs and then built the website from scratch. They created wireframes and then a functional MVP that shows how our platform looks and works. Their team did the design and developed the website using Bubble.
What is the team composition?
I worked with four people from AirDev.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I found them by researching developers online.
How much have you invested with them?
In total, we spent $7,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our relationship officially started on September 28th and the website launched on October 28th, 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The functional MVP is live, and I’m satisfied. We onboarded 12 clients within the first two weeks. They’re happy with the product too. We’re still learning about it, but the platform’s ready for the market. The usability’s great, and the platform’s on par with what our users wanted.
Once we launched, we had great support too. To this day, AirDev supports us. Whenever there’s a question, they quickly respond to us.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
They use an extremely helpful portal that keeps everything in one place. Their platform has different tabs and shows different tasks’ progress. That helped the project remain organized and efficient.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They delivered exactly what we established in the scoping document. Their team actually exceeded expectations with their customer service. They didn’t stop until the project was done. AirDev did an amazing job, and we will continue working with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have constructive feedback for them. Usually, there’s always an area for improvement but I don’t have much to say at the moment.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Before you engage them, research your market, and understand your product. Don’t expect a development team to figure out what you need to do.

Web Dev & Design for Curbside Pickup & Delivery Company

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder and CEO of a curbside pickup and delivery platform for mom and pop shops.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
We wanted to create an MVP of a second stage version of a prototype. It is sort of like a finance marketplace, a simple curbside pickup application for bodegas and smaller convenience stores that don’t have much of an online presence in the first place. Given the pandemic, the timeframe was urgent for us and we wanted to have a quicker rollout.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They did the design as well as the actual build. We had our high-fidelity design already done at that stage, so they were able to use our framework to create a design.
They did our web development and created our MVP on Bubble. They scoped the project for us, focusing on the three requirements we outlined. Then they created a budget and timeframe for the MVP.
What is the team composition?
I worked with two people throughout the project: the project manager and the in-house developer. There was also a QA specialist, an in-house designer, and a second product manager who worked on the project, but I wasn’t in contact with them.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I heard about them through a mutual contact. They’re one of the better developers that know Bubble inside and out.
We reached out to AirDev and asked for their input. We felt they were the best path to move forward with. They clearly had, not only a deeper understanding of Bubble, but they had an understanding of how marketplaces are built in general.
They clearly had a former business background in terms of building this sort of platform. Their experience was helpful because they were able to predict potential issues and circumvent them ahead of time.
I went with AirDev because they were located in the States and that was a huge plus
How much have you invested in them?
We have spent around $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from July–October 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Ed (Product Director) was amazing; his code is high-caliber. He knew exactly what he was talking about. When I first reached out to them, during the scoping phase, the first thing he asked me was what the three primary aspects of the build are and what exactly I wanted from AirDev. Then he was able to deliver it.
They were the perfect go-to developers for this. In reaching out to AirDev, I was looking to quickly they could roll this out. Given their experience and the fact that they were building this on Bubble, their timeframe was amazing. They were able to develop this whole marketplace build within a few weeks. It ended up becoming a few months, but I think the delays were more so on my side.
The other success metric was the cost. We had resources on hand and we had access to capital but the way we were looking at it given the fact that we weren’t in an incubator or an accelerator then, at that point, we were a little bit early so having something built out quickly and cheaply was a huge deal for us relative to if we went a different route and different developer.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
They had an in-house Bubble dashboard, which was super convenient. It was pretty simple to use and everything that was communicated between us sat on the platform so it was pretty straightforward.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their professionalism was the most impressive. They were timely and they knew their stuff. I think their professionalism and expertise really came out in the beginning.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Overall, we got exactly what we wanted, so we were very pleased. The one area that could probably be improved on was around the scheduling process during the scoping phase. It takes a few weeks to get the project in the books, since they need to put the right team in place, so there can be a slight delay there. But that's more so a natural part of the process, and therefore something that the client probably should be planning for ahead of time, by making sure they've done the necessary preparation to help AirDev streamline the scoping process to begin with.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If I had to give a recommendation to a client, I would tell them to be very clear on exactly what they want to be built and what the exact specifics of that first build are before they even reach out to AirDev. Think about what key processes you want to test for your hypothesis are, and then reach out to AirDev. They can streamline that process a lot quicker if you have that already in hand

E-Commerce Development for Collector Car Startup
"When it comes to speed and cost, AirDev outpaced the competition substantially."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of Freebright Ventures. We’re a small startup in the collector car marketplace.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
We were looking for someone to develop a custom software that would help us build out our two-sided marketplace. We also wanted the software to be able to source leads for buyers and sellers, and help sellers maintain their inventory and build out their own web presence.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The end deliverable was the two-sided e-commerce website built on Bubble. It’s an intuitive portal that allows buyers and sellers to post listings as well as browse and purchase.
There were some complexities that AirDev had to manage as well. Our market includes hundreds of thousands of parts, so the software had to be able to inventory and catalog that in a meaningful way.
AirDev integrated the platform with Stripe and Shippo, and they set us up with a tax calculating software.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with about three people: one of the founders, a project manager, and a lead developer.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
I’d done some independent research and found them through Bubble, the platform we built the site on. AirDev came highly recommended by them, so we started talking to them.
How much have you invested with them?
The total cost is going to come out to about $45,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started scoping at the end of June, and the development process started in July. Now, we’re in the final week of building. Most of the software is delivered, and we’re just tying up loose ends now.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re just about to launch, so we don’t have any hard metrics right now. However, we’re impressed with AirdDev’s work.
At the beginning of the project, we laid out a plan, and we’ve pretty much adhered to it throughout. The biggest success metric for us was that, by the end of the collaboration, we’d have the product we specified, and we do. Everything was delivered on the timeline as promised, and the communication throughout has been great as well.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
AirDev is absolutely wonderful to work with. Everything we’ve asked of them, they’ve responded to and done it without delay.
We didn’t have a single phone call throughout the entire duration of the build. Everything was done electronically through their portal.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re most impressed with the speed at which they’re able to deliver. We’d seriously considered about four or five other agencies, and the quotes we were getting from them were 2-3 times the duration of AirDev’s, and at 2-3 times the cost. When it comes to speed and cost, AirDev outpaced the competition substantially.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Overall, they’re absolutely great to work with. One thing they could probably improve on is market themselves better. If I hadn’t found them through Bubble, I probably wouldn’t have found them, but I’m really glad I did. Other than that, I have no critiques on the delivery.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
First off, AirDev is a great team to work with, so go for it. Secondarily, make sure you spend the time upfront. I think a big reason the project has been so successful and smooth is because we spent about a month upfront digging into what we wanted.
Airdev built a fully functional product within the promised timeframe and budget. As an ongoing partner, they continue to dedicate a communicative, knowledgeable team that effectively anticipates needs. They use Coda to manage the project and an internal platform for communication.
