My parents own a trucking company. I provide translation assistance for them since they don’t speak English very well.

We did a Google search for local CPA firms.

How much have you invested with them?

$12,500 was the initial estimate, I believe, but The Adams Group, LLC increased the price throughout the engagement. The charge this year was $2,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from 2019 until April 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

There is no success to be reported. The Adams Group, LLC finally filed the 2018 tax return two weeks ago, after I requested it many times. Because they dragged their feet, we have penalties for late filing as well.

How was project management handled?

They didn’t work in a timely manner. The team was slow to return calls or emails; they sometimes didn’t respond at all. We were charged for every question we asked, including whether or not we should file electronically. Deana was very impersonal and didn’t seem to care about helping us.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

No, I can’t name any strengths about them.

In what specific areas can they improve?

The Adams Group, LLC needs to be more professional and personable. They also need to update to using email and other technology; their current process is very old-fashioned.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

Don’t go through them. They seem to take advantage of people.
