Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the design director at a brand design agency based in the UK and Ireland. We work for a range of clients, predominantly B2B companies.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Adam Gault Photography Ltd?

We hired them to do a photo shoot for an aircraft seating company. We were working on a rebrand for the business, and we were looking for a style of photography that would highlight the client’s product and capture the company's essence in its environment. Additionally, we were looking for a reporter-type photography style that would capture hidden moments.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Adam (Principal) provides product and corporate photography services for our clients. For our first project, we broke the work into two different areas. The first area was product photography, and Adam took the product and photographed it in different places. 

Then, they did location-based photography. We were allowed to roam around the different parts of the client's company, from the executive offices to the design floor to the manufacturing shop, and Adam took candid shots there. He also helped us create a set that emulated the inside of a plane. We found a fuselage, and with Adam's help, we recreated the location so he could also capture images there. 

Since that first project, we've done several photoshoots with Adam. For example, he's worked with one of our clients that's a well-known airline. Another notable project was for a brewery, where he photographed certain areas in the client's facilities. Usually, he takes the photos and then goes away to work on them and remove blemishes or imperfections.

What is the team composition?

We work with Adam and an assistant. 

How did you come to work with Adam Gault Photography Ltd?

We found them through a reference from one of our colleagues who had previously worked with Adam. 

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent around £35,000 (approximately $43,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2016, and our partnership is ongoing. Since our first project, we've done at least one photoshoot together every year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We've received a lot of positive feedback from our clients for Adam's work. They've asked us who took the images because they want to commission more of his work. The airline we worked for met with our CEO and commented they loved the imagery because it was the only passenger-focused one they'd seen — that was fantastic for us. 

How did Adam Gault Photography Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

We handle project management. Although Adam does a little on his end, we manage the bulk of that work. We typically communicate via phone or email. Although we've had a range of end clients, he doesn't inflate costs. In some cases, he's accommodated some clients' smaller budgets in consideration of our relationship with him.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Adam has a real talent for product photography and capturing corporate images; his attention to detail is second to none. For example, for the brewery project, Adam would point out issues with areas of the facilities that we overlooked. When he selects images, he spots things I don't see and fixes them — it's remarkable. Additionally, Adam looks to build a relationship with us as clients in a way that's not transactional.
