BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO and co-founder of Design Laboratory, an interdisciplinary design agency based in Central London, UK. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with 2020 Recordings?

We needed help in voiceover recording for a video for one of our high-profile clients.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We worked closely with 2020 Recordings for a voiceover recording project. First, they gave us the timeline, budget, and resources needed for this engagement. We provided them with the script and storyboard, and we collaborated on improving those. 

2020 Recordings then helped us select a suitable voice actor. They offered three options, and we picked one. From there, they proceeded with the actual recording. 

We interacted with the voice actor during the recording session, and their sound engineer explained what would happen in the next steps. We gave our feedback while they were recording, and they iterated based on that. After the recording was finished, they sent us edited copies of the file.

What is the team composition?

I worked with 4–5 people, including Adam (CEO), a voice actor, and a sound engineer.  

How did you come to work with 2020 Recordings?

Our offices were near each other, and I had heard of them. They were known to be experts in voiceover recording — they had a lot of experience in sound design and effects. On top of that, they were accommodating, personable, and empathetic, so I decided that they were the perfect fit for us. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from December 2021–January 2022. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The recordings they delivered were high-quality. In addition, we had a smooth interaction with everyone from 2020 Recordings — their team was very empathetic, personable, and inspiring. It felt like they were our extension, and they worked in the same way that we did. 

How did 2020 Recordings perform from a project management standpoint?

2020 Recordings’ project management was spot on — they were transparent and professional. We had a tight timeframe, and they understood the urgency of our project. The process was very fluid, and we felt involved at each step of the way.

Their CEO helped explain everything matter-of-factly and professionally. We never felt lost at any point. We communicated through in-person meetings, Slack, WhatsApp, email, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of 2020 Recordings’ work, the professionalism of their team, and the human-centric approach they displayed were all impressive. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. I plan on working with them again.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communication is key. 2020 Recordings’ team is open-minded and good at listening.
