I’m the head of people at a fintech company based in Barcelona. We work in different markets within Europe and Latin America.

What challenge were you trying to address with Zero to One Search?

We were looking for an agency that could help us expand one of our product teams. We work in many verticals, and the product in question was related to subscriptions and optical retailers. We needed a country manager that could lead the international expansion of this product.

We shared a job description with Zero to One Search and told them to focus their efforts on the German market. They helped us find a candidate for the position.

How did you come to work with Zero to One Search?

We found them through a Google search for companies in different markets. I read some good reviews about Zero to One Search. We had an initial call. I liked Marat's approach, so I decided to give Zero to One Search the opportunity. We liked their approach and found them to be flexible even though they were a small startup. International agencies tend to have higher and more restrictive fees than the ones we work with in Spain, and Zero to One Search was flexible in this regard.

We spent over €10,000 (approximately $11,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June–August 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Zero to One Search presented the first profiles within the first two weeks, and I chose our new hire from that first batch.  The first candidate we interviewed was the one we hired — it was a perfect match. The time to hire was very quick; we thought it would take 3–4 months, but we closed the position in a month and a half. 

Overall, my level of satisfaction with the services I received from Zero to One Search is really good. I would consider working with Zero to One Search in the future if we expand our team in Germany. 

How did Zero to One Search perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through email and WhatsApp. The communication was very informal, which we liked. It's complicated for me to answer phone calls because my agenda is packed most of the time, so I communicated with Zero to One Search through WhatsApp voice messages. I appreciated the friendly approach they took to this request; bigger agencies prefer to have a call, but my communication with the Zero to One Search team was very quick. 

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

We were very happy with the work that Marat did for us. He was very quick, and everything was very smooth. Most of the time, when signing a new contract with an agency we haven't worked with, there's back-and-forth with the contract, but this was not the case working with Marat. He did an amazing job. Moreover, Marat helped me decide which candidate would be better to interview. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by Zero to One Search's ability to present a batch of candidates and help me decide which one could be the best match. The fact that we hired the first candidate we interviewed was a milestone for us — that had never happened to me before. 

I've worked with many agencies, and most of the time, I need to see at least 15 candidates for a position like this. With Zero to One Search, the first candidate was perfect. Our collaboration with Zero to One Search was almost perfect, and we have no complaints. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The candidate we hired said that Zero to One Search didn’t pitch our company very well because he didn't receive a lot of information. We could’ve given the team more guidelines on how to pitch our company.

I’m a manager at Cybus. We’re a software company that offers a licensed IoT application for the manufacturing industry. Our company was founded in 2015, and we currently have a staff of 50 teammates.

We needed assistance with talent acquisition since we had just received a funding round that allowed us to expand our team. We were particularly looking to grow our engineering team to attend to more customers and complex projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Zero to One Search helped us recruit development engineers with particular areas of expertise. I’ve worked in recruiting agencies before, so I was already familiar with the process involved in recruiting staff. 

We provided Zero to One Search with the roles’ descriptions and requirements. We also discussed our company’s current situation with Zero to One Search and had various iteration processes to find the right candidate. 

Zero to One Search searched potential candidates and conducted pre-screening interviews.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Zero to One Search helped us find the right candidates for our company, even though they were niche profiles. For instance, they recruited three engineers with different focus areas: Node.js, C++, and IoT applications. 

Overall, Zero to One Search helped us narrow down our search and got to know our company well — I was happy with their work. The interview process was long because we were looking for specialized profiles. However, the talent Zero to One Search helped us recruit has adapted well to our company. 

How did Zero to One Search perform from a project management standpoint?

Our communication with Zero to One Search was really good. We had an initial kick-off call and continued to communicate through email after that. Zero to One Search was responsive and attentive, and we gave constant feedback to each other. 

We’re still in communication with Zero to One Search for occasional check-ins. One of the engineers they helped us recruit started working with us in February 2023.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything particular for Zero to One Search to improve. Although not all potential candidates matched our positions’ requirements, Zero to One Search took our feedback and kept looking for candidates until they found the right ones.

Give Zero to One Search as much information as possible so they can recruit the right candidates for your company. Communicate information about your company’s challenges, history, and growth plan.

We got in 2 months aproximately 40 suitable profiles of interested fullstack candidates willing to work for our company. We hired 5 and need to pause the project due to internal shortage of onboarding capacities - Zero to One Search exceeded our expectations by far!

We set up a process to effectively communicate withe the applicants they provided, Zero to One Search offered us guidance for relocations and Visa services. The workflow went smooth and was by far better than the one with the other recruitment firms (that didn't want to adapt to our internal process).
