What challenge were you trying to address with 01 Digital Media?

We were looking to partner with a video production company with a lot of industry experience. We needed someone to bring creative spark and energy to our efforts. It was also an issue of workload and scale; we needed to bring in a trusted partner to help us with projects when our internal team couldn't do it.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a kickoff call with Zero One Digital Media's team and talked about our projects. The first project we brought them in on was a customer testimonial. The team shot and edited one of our customers and produced a video for us.

We shared some samples of things we had done in the past and things we would like. We discussed roles and responsibilities on set, who would be doing what, and how our team could augment their team. We brought them in on several other projects, including more customer testimonials on our website and YouTube. We did a couple of corporate B-roll shoots at our headquarters.

Zero One Digital Media hired actors and brought in a crew. We shot two or three days on campus in different scenarios across our go-to-market efforts. Some internal customer advocacy team members crafted the story with Zero One Digital Media.

We sent those B-roll packages to news outlets for when our executives are on TV. We could send them a corporate video reel that they could play on monitors or as a lead-in to the interview. They helped us shoot all that to build a footage library for us to use in other projects.

More recently, Zero One Digital Media assisted with our virtual event. The team helped with production, cost design, and set fabrication. We worked with another company that Zero One Digital Media subcontracted, but their team was pivotal in making that connection and helping us design the set. We built a custom set for our studio, which was shot at our headquarters.

What is the team composition?

Zero One Digital Media had 4–5 full-time employees, but they hired additional production folks depending on the scope and scale of the production. We worked with Colin, the director; Clark, their producer; a director of photography; and an additional producer. The crews could get anywhere between 10–15 people large, including audio people, lighting people, hair and makeup, etc.

How did you come to work with 01 Digital Media?

Colin reached out to a colleague, and they referred Zero One Digital Media to us. We had a kickoff call with their team and talked about the types of projects we work on and where we might be able to collaborate in the future.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $250,000–$500,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2023, and the engagement ended in January 2025.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our internal stakeholders were delighted with their work. Zero One Digital Media became one of our trusted partners, and we added them to our internal approved vendor list. We trust Zero One Digital Media to represent our brand so other marketing teammates can leverage them.

Through the work the team produced, they earned a lot of internal trust. The customer advocacy team was very pleased with their work and looked forward to bringing them in on more considerable marquee customer testimonials.

How did 01 Digital Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Zero One Digital Media was very communicative. They were happy to hop on as many production, preproduction, or postproduction calls as necessary. The team was very collaborative, so it was a very give-and-take in sharing ideas.

They responded quickly to emails and were willing to do walkthroughs and site visits to ensure the project's success. Their editing process was smooth, and they incorporated feedback speedily and understood our goals and vision.

We used email and Zoom as our primary modes of collaboration and communication. Zero One Digital Media came on-site quite a bit for site walkthroughs beforehand.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Colin's creative direction and vision on these projects have been great. Collaborating with him to craft storylines ensured that we maintained our internal stakeholders' vision and were on brand. The collaboration with Colin was great. I also give a shout-out to Clark. He was hyper-aware, organized, communicative, and agile, kept things rolling, and adapted to changes. They both were great partners.

What did you find most impressive about them?

In the creative space, sometimes you encounter strong opinions or egos, and not everyone is easy to work with. Colin and Zero One Digital Media's biggest concern was the project's success. They dropped all ego at the door and came in with open eyes and a willingness to collaborate. It was refreshing. Zero One Digital Media made it easy to work with them, and it was an enjoyable and collaborative process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, Zero One Digital Media went the extra mile to ensure that our projects were successful and that we were happy. They did everything we needed from a production partner.

If collaboration is important to you, no other partner than Zero One Digital Media out there can bring that level of cooperation.

We devised a set of videos to be shot and asked Zero One Digital Media to partner with us. Zero One Digital Media comes in on the requested days to shoot video; the service provider brings the appropriate size crew and equipment and supplies us with raw footage they collect. 

We’ve created 3–4 videos based on their captured footage, but we plan to use it to make at least a dozen videos. We’re handling all of the video editing and postproduction in-house.

We work with a team of 3–4 individuals from Zero One Digital Media.

We were looking for companies to partner with in our area and found them online. We saw some of their work, and they seemed to align with our needs and provide the highest caliber of work.

The caliber of footage we’ve received has been excellent and is useful for our various needs. Some of the footage has even exceeded what we initially scoped out; it’s been nice to have options for editing videos.

They’ve been excellent in terms of project management. The team is always on time and quickly supplies us with the footage. We primarily communicate via email. Zero One Digital Media is organized in their approach to the engagement.

The process involves scriptwriting, storyboarding, location scouting, and on-set production management. The videos we produce are all published on the website, social media channels, YouTube, in-store, and at events.

Since partnering with Zero One Digital Media, we’ve had a very successful video storytelling program focusing on rider engagement. We’ve experienced high awareness numbers, engagement, and a large waitlist for our services.

A lot of our customers come from seeing our video ads, where we have high retention rates in terms of content quality.

I’m a digital producer at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco (FAMSF).

What challenge were you trying to address with Zero One Digital Media?

We hired Zero One to livestream an event we were having in the museum and produce a video after that.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we reached out to Zero One and set up a discovery meeting to talk about our needs and develop some ideas based on those. From there, we went into the preproduction stage, during which we planned all the logistics for covering the event. We also worked together to outline the details of camera angles, camera locations, and audio recording. Then, they live-streamed the event through YouTube.

After filming the event, Zero One was in charge of the entire postproduction process, during which they edited the content, put it together, and added music. When they finished editing the video for the first time, we reviewed their edits to provide our feedback. After 2–3 rounds of edits, they delivered the final cut., which was around 4–5 minutes long.

What is the team composition?

We worked with around 8–10 people from Zero One, including three camera operators, two producers, and 3–4 engineers in charge of the screening.

One of their founders is an old friend of mine, so I already knew about them. When we realized that Zero One was a good fit for us for this project, we signed a contract with them.

We spent around $40,000.

We worked together from October–December 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were satisfied with the product delivered by Zero One. When we released the video on our YouTube and Instagram pages, it performed well and drove a lot of engagement. People were not only impressed with its quality but also with our event overall because it was unique.

We were satisfied with Zero One’s performance in that regard. They were very professional and stayed on schedule. We used Google Docs and Frame.io as collaboration tools, and we communicated via Google Meet and phone.

Be very clear about what you need, and come to the table with that information. Moreover, ensure to listen to Zero One because they’re experts in their field and have done a lot of projects, so they know what they’re doing.

Zero One Digital Media did video production for us, including the storyline development. Using their equipment, they made around ten videos with real people and live music that they mixed into the final products. Our goal was to use those videos for live streaming, social media, branding, and webinars.

They provide cinematographers, gaffers, utility and sound people, and any camera gear we’re going to require. They’re our one-stop shop for capturing footage. We handle all of the editing and mixing in-house.

I work very closely with Colin (Founder) and Clark (Head of Production). They have contact with a vast network of professionals in the areas of camera operation, cinematography, gaffing, utilities, and more. They send these people out for our shoots, and we work with the same crew over and over again. I’ve gotten to know their whole list of contacts at this point.

A photo coordinator I know recommended them to me. Once I started working with them, it was clear that they would add a lot of value to my company.

As I’m on the creative side, I don’t measure the KPIs, and therefore don’t have specific metric increases to reference. However, I do know that we’ve seen a large uptick in our viewership on our website and social media since starting to work with Zero one. They’ve garnered positive results for us.

The video we worked on together has been viewed more than 1.4 million times on YouTube and our employees regularly ask for more live streams, like the one we produced with Zero One to kick off the series.

The Zero One team is a pleasure to work with at every step. They prioritize communication, strategy, and creative development while also being a joy to work with. While as buttoned-up as they come, Zero One also doesn't hesitate with a laugh or to enjoy themselves while working hard, which I appreciate.

Zero One's communication, flexibility, and ability to work quickly stand out to me as their most impressive attributes. That combination makes my relationship with them a highly-valuable tool in my arsenal.
