Československá obchodní banka, a. s. (ČSOB) offers to its clients a wide range of banking products and services, including the products and services of the entire ČSOB group. The ČSOB group consists of the Bank (ČSOB) and entities related with the Bank. ČSOB’s financial group includes strategic companies in the Czech Republic controlled directly or indirectly by ČSOB, or KBC, which offer financial services, namely Hypoteční banka, ČSOB Pojišťovna, Českomoravská stavební spořitelna, ČSOB Penzijní společnost, ČSOB Leasing, ČSOB Asset Management, ČSOB Factoring and Patria. As a Product Manager I am a part of our Surf Studio (an inspirational working area) team, where I work on several exciting projects. I mainly organize events for our employees and bring them both internal and external speakers on the following topics - Artificial Intelligence, Smart solutions - mobility, shopping, etc., Fintech, Change and Agile and so on.

For what projects/services did your company hire Yord?

Our Annual Innovation Report describes both internal and external projects that brings something innovative to our clients and employees. The format of this document has to be interesting for its readers. We were lucky to meet the start-up Yord and the idea of making our Report in Virtual Reality was here.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to provide our employees an outstanding experience by "reading/watching" the Annual Innovation Report so every colleague can remember at least 5 innovative services which our bank is doing for our clients.

How did you select this vendor?

We got a great reference from our Start it programme leader who recommended the Yord company to us. Yord also delivered several presentations on VR/AR topics which demonstrated that they have a strong team to come up with the solution we need.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

First of all, Yord created an interactive pdf document and then turned it into Virtual Reality. It sounds easy, but there was a lot of work behind it. They provided the pdf document with a clickable menu which navigated its reader through 7 chapters full of infographics, web links, videos, pictures and animations. Here is a short description how the Virtual Reality by Yord looks like.

The user is sitting in a yellow armchair while discovering the Annual Innovation Report using just hands. The user sees in VR the yellow chair on the beach by the sea and in front of him is the document, videos and special effects that are related to a specific chapter. There is a menu on the armrest of the chair so that the user can browse the report easily.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

This project helped us to educate our employees about innovative projects which were done within the Group by using a different communication channel (which VR definitely is). They got a picture of what is planned for 2020. It also increased a better cooperation between involved departments on the Group level.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

First of all there was a project preparation where we gathered all the content for our Annual Innovation Report - project descriptions, pictures, short videos, animations and so on. Then we met with Yord graphic designer to talk about the design of the document in pdf format.

Then everything went really smooth. We had several status meetings to see how the project is going. We used secured account on Google drive for exchanging/reviewing the files. Then Yord turned the pdf into Virtual Reality and there was also a live demonstration in our Surf Studio using 3D Oculus Quest head set. No other project management tools were needed in this case.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their flexibility is incredible. They did maximum to deliver the project in time and they always found a nice solution to our requirements, even if we asked for changes at the last moment.

The project was delivered on time and in a very good quality.

We are car manufacturer from Czech Republic, with more than 125 year tradition in automotive industry. My position in company is Sales network development and monitoring. We are monitoring and steering sales in more than 50 countries worldwide. Our team is focused mainly on new retail formats and digital showroom.

Whole automotive industry is now standing before huge challenge - electromobility. Last year our company has launched first plug-in hybrid vehicle and also purely electric vehicle. We wanted to come out with some supporting tool for oure dealers to help them with argumentation when offering and explaining plug-in hybrid technology. Many of our dealers are using tablets as a supportive tool during discussion with customer. Our idea / opportunity was to develop interactive app using AR technology to explain and promote hybrid technology.

What were your goals for this project?

Increase e-mobility awareness not only among SKODA customers but also sales staff in interactive way.

How did you select this vendor?

This vendor was recommended to us by other company. We did a standard tender where chepeast offer wins the contract (if there are fulfilling technical requirements).

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Vendor analysed needs and afterwards designed, developed and tested the application that met our requirements. We provided full 3D data of car model (with complexity of milions of polygons). Task for the vendor was to simplify the model to low-resolution HW so it could be displayed in regular mobile device (iPad Pro in this case). Then they had to choose relevant components from powertrain platform, highlight them and make animation of working components. Afterwards they had to work with real physical model to track it via iPad and to display its powertrain as a second layer incl. pop-up text desciptions. Last phase besides testing was UI of application and its deployment via TestFlight.

We had two direct contacts - PM and leader of developers. I expect that the whole team involved in this project was up to 5 members.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Due to current Covid crisis we haven't been able to pilot the solution so far.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We mostly communicated in person or via phone. Everything was arranged according mutual agreement.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I would say effectivnes in terms of project costs. I think it is the benefit of start-up when the company is able to deliver quality product in short time using just few resources. In addition they have definitely huge know-how of VR/AR apps development.
