BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder of an iOS mobile app focused on booking events. We created the business about a year ago and currently have three employees.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
We started working with a different developer last fall, and this past spring, we made the change to work with Yalantis due to their much lower costs. Our former developers were great, but they were much more expensive comparatively.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
The app was already developed and launched on the App Store, so we had them start with initial bug fixes and smaller updates we needed to make. Everything went well, so now we’re currently in the process of rolling out some new feature updates, which should be completed in the next couple of weeks. We will be implementing a calendar in the app so that will let users book events that aren’t just for that night but in the future.
What is the team dynamic?
The number of people we’ve worked with has varied because we’re doing a little bit more work now. We started with four or five people, and now it’s five or six.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
I learned about them last summer before we started working on the app. When it came time to look for new development help in terms of a lower cost alternative, we used Clutch and found them, among others. We reached out to a few firms in the Ukraine and South America. We got a similar impression from all the firms we spoke with, but Yalantis was a gut instinct for me. They are very, very kind and accommodating toward anything, and that was pretty obvious right away. That was the key factor that made me decide between them and the others we were looking at.
How much have you invested with them?
About $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The work began in May 2017 and is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
There was a bit of a problem with the app not functioning in places outside the U.S. due to some time zone bugs, but now people who aren’t just in the U.S. can use the app, so that’s been great. Other than that, we haven’t had a solid difference in terms of numbers because the changes they made weren’t that large. They have mostly been just little performance optimizations and big fixes so far.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
Very well. We have communication with them almost daily through Slack and Skype if it’s a video call. I’m someone who wants to be in the loop about what’s going on every single day. With them, you can have a hands-on or hand-off approach, and I wanted the most hands-on, and they were able to do that. They’ve been great. We’ve had no problems in terms of any major or even minor bugs with any of the two updates we’ve issued with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
With our past developer, we only got to communicate with a product manager and account manager, and we had no communication with the developers and designers. With Yalantis, we can easily communicate with absolutely everyone on the team, which is something I really like. It’s much easier than having to talk to one person for that one person to relay the message to someone else and then get back to me. It’s nice to have direct communication with everyone.
Are there any areas they could improve?
With our last developer, we would get a specific number for a project estimate, and that’s the cost it would be. Any of the hours that were not used were credited toward future work, so that was really nice. With Yalantis, we get a high and low estimate for a project, which can range fairly significantly. For example, we could get a low estimate of $15,000 and a high of $23,000, and that’s about a 50% difference, which is pretty huge. Either tightening the estimate they provide or offering a specific number would be helpful.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the PR and Marketing Manager of Wapo Wapa Limited. We are an app developer, and currently, we have two dating apps designed for the gay and lesbian community.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
We were looking to redesign both of our apps.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Yalantis redesigned all aspects of our apps. They worked on everything from the user interface design right down to the color scheme. Yalantis conducted research within our app to find out exactly what the user wants. They compared competitor apps, and then came to us with a brand new design and features for both apps for iOS and Android devices. We have been extremely pleased with their work so far.
What is the team dynamic?
We had approximately six people from the team working with us.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
We researched firms online and came across Yalantis. From our initial contact, we were very satisfied and hired them to complete this project.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent approximately $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement started in around April 2017, and the project concluded in July 2017. We have plans to work together in the future.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We plan to launch the interface in September. Currently, we are working on integrating the new interface with the app itself with our internal developers, as there are a few changes and new features.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
Yalantis integrated very well with our company and essentially became part of our team. I didn’t expect the project to be such an easy process. The communication was very good, and we mostly used Slack to chat with the whole team.
The quality of their work has been excellent, and we are very pleased. We have already been in touch with them about beginning work on some other projects as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Communication was an area that was really impressive to us. Communication between the client and the customer is so important, and they really are brilliant. They are very professional, easy going, and they act very fast. Whenever they were asked to work on something or to create something specific, within half an hour they came back to us with an idea.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We are very pleased with them. It is very difficult for me to say that they need to improve in any area as there isn’t anything they worked on that we haven’t been pleased with.

After receiving designs from a third party, as well as direction from internal teams, Yalantis developed a native app for both iOS and Android. They continue to work on a web version.
Yalantis takes ownership of projects and excels in communication. They provide top-notch project management and are a highly professional team. Though there was a bit of a learning curve about the industry for Yalantis at the beginning, they asked all the right questions and exceeded expectations.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder of HomeSway, a new real estate tech startup. HomeSway is an app for home showings. An agent invites their client, buyers, or sellers to the app, and they do an online search on real estate websites. Once they decide that they would like to schedule showings or tours of homes, that’s where HomeSway comes in. The agent or the buyers add the homes that they would like to see into HomeSway. Agents make the appointments. When they go out to tour the homes, we help them organize and remember everything that they’ve seen.
Within HomeSway, we have the list of homes. You order them by appointment times, and then once you are physically at the property, you click “Begin Tour” and with each room that you’re in, you can drag and drop icons to say what you like and what you don’t, take photos, and also take notes which can be tagged by the house and by the rooms.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
The original business challenge we were trying to overcome was how to take a complex process and simplify it with a tool that was very basic and simple that could be used by anyone, a 5-year-old or a 70-year-old. Simplicity is hard. I had some design requirements and I needed somebody to execute those.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We hired a local design team out of Austin. I had created the design and I had them perfect it, and then we were looking for somebody to actually execute the development of the project. We had some complex things that we needed to do, one being the interactions of the drag and drop icons. We also needed the interaction done for the multi-select dropdown list, which is my nemesis, which let people select priorities of what a user is looking for in a home.
We did some design things that I haven’t seen in many other apps. The main challenge with these features was making it simple, but also delightful. Yalantis built both iOS and Android native apps. The MVP [minimum viable product] for iOS and Android is completed and we have a web version that’s coming next, once we secure funding.
What is the team dynamic?
There were 4-7 people on the team, depending on where we were in the project.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
My advisors and I were searching for a development team offshore and did some research on multiple sites. Clutch’s reviews helped make the final decision that we needed to contact Yalantis.
We also looked on some other sites for some of the work. There was actually a prototype they’d done that had a similar look and feel of the drag and drop function we needed. Seeing their work on multiple sites is how we ended up reaching out to them.
In terms of the experience after the initial call, they asked smart questions and took the time to really understand the market that we were playing in, and what the business process looks like. They then took that and wrote up the proposal. There was a lot of pre-work done and a lot of questions asked to make sure they were the right partner.
How much have you invested with them?
About $150,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together March 2016 and work is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We just finished Android at the end of April. In June we did some user testing, and there are some tweaks that we need to make. So, we just started talking to people about the app. We haven’t actually launched into market yet.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been excellent. Their project management and the communications from the project manager were top-notch. We communicated mostly through Slack and video chats as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re professional and willing to learn. They’re willing to acknowledge if they’ve made a mistake and own it. If there’s miscommunication in the process or if delays happen, they manage that well. I couldn’t have asked for a better response or better professionalism.
One thing I want to note is that Yalantis is not just an outsource company that’s writing code for you. They truly take on the role of a partner and understand what your motivations are, what your obstacles are, and what you’re trying to achieve. They take the time to understand that. That’s why we worked so well together. The things that I cared about became the things that the team cared about—things like timelines and shuffling priorities so that we could share progress with advisors and folks that are interested or investing. So they really took that to heart.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had great conversations around understanding the process, but maybe just early on, they might be able to improve on asking more questions. I’d hate to even say that’s something that they should improve on, though. There’s a huge difference between real estate in the United States and real estate all over the world. There was a bit of a learning curve to understand what that process looks like in the U.S.
They did a great job asking the questions. With some of these things, you just had to dive in and really start building the tools to really understand what the nuances are. They did all the right things, which is why we stuck with them and gave them the Android version as well. There wasn’t too much that I would say they need to improve on because the communication, which is key when you’re managing an offshore, was top-notch. There was never a time when I felt like communication wasn’t flowing.
What advice would you have for people who are considering outsourcing?
If you’ve never outsourced, it can be difficult. I recommend that you find somebody that you trust who has experience with doing outsourcing and bring them along with you. Secondly, ask a ton of questions. Yalantis had done some work in the real estate space before, but it was kind of different. Ask smart questions and then, the key indicator is if the folks that you’re interviewing are asking smart questions as well, because the communication is going to be what makes or breaks your project when it comes to offshore.

Yalantis built an e-commerce iOS app, integrating delivery, payment, and social features critical to the target Middle East audience. They are also slated to develop Android and web versions of the app.
Yalantis are excellent collaborators who, unlike many other offshore developers, are strong communicators with nearly around-the-clock availability and clean coding capabilities. Their prices are reasonable, and they are prime candidates to serve a Middle East market lacking in quality developers.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Boothapp is a social shopping platform that provides payment gateway and delivery-related for small businesses in the Middle East, making sure that online transactions are friction free. I am the founder and director of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
I was looking for WordPress app developers based in the Middle East. We couldn’t find any in the Middle East who could match what Yalantis can do.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Yalantis built my iOS app, and we’re awaiting approval from the App Store. There are many features we still want to implement, but we’re waiting until the later versions. There are also plans for Yalantis to build Android and web versions as well.
We used many native functionalities, but also added other elements. The initial idea was quite different and a bit unrealistic. Yalantis helped improve it, working on a design that would best suit the functionalities I wanted to implement.
The platform currently works only with Kuwaiti dinars and U.S. dollars, as to not complicate it. We will incorporate other currencies after we’ve expanded to other regions.
The blend of social media and e-commerce is what makes our platform special. This will drive traffic and keep it within the app. If someone wants to buy something online, they would typically only go to the store after they’d decided on it, but people in the Middle East spend, on average, more than eight hours a day on social media. Unless products are sold directly within such an app, transactions are more difficult.
What is the team dynamic?
The team was made up of 8–10 people, including a quality engineer, three iOS developers, two back-end developers, a project manager, and a small marketing team.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
We started from the ground up. After I came up with my idea, I researched online to find a company to execute it and turn it into a reality. I found Yalantis’ blog and it spoke to me. I decided to contact and visit their team to see how everything was run. I fell in love with the company, so I decided to start the project.
How much have you invested with them?
The development cost for the iOS app was between $150,000 and $200,000. The payment was done in installments.
Yalantis’ prices are good, but I kept making changes until we reached a point I was satisfied with it. This resulted in excess development costs, so I think the Android version will be a fraction of the price.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in May 2016 and the collaboration is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app is not a new concept overall, but it is new to the region. People have welcomed the idea, and we are already in the pre-launch stage. We have contacted over 30 shops and given small presentations about the app. They’ve tried early versions of it and have been satisfied.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
I admire their communication. Yalantis was always available during weekends and at night. I am the type of person who thinks out loud, and I want to discuss my ideas. We communicate over email, Skype, and Slack. Yalantis has always been there for me, and they’re very patient.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I haven’t interacted with other companies since Yalantis were my first pick. I may have been lucky, but based on what I’ve heard from other people in the region who have gone through app development, their results weren’t even close to what Yalantis provides. They went for the cheaper choices and had all kinds of problems, such as inefficient coding.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could improve their coverage of the region. Yalantis should take the Middle Eastern market more seriously.

Yalantis manages full-stack development for a 2-part white-label B2B2C solution, translating requirements into engaging UI/UX designs and native builds for iOS and Android apps.
Through Yalantis’ attention to detail and strong visual branding, the initial product has already attracted widespread positive reactions from testers, partners, and clients. The team’s organized workflow, compelling designs, and helpful USP suggestions continue to add value.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of a software and consulting company that offers services on a B2B2C model. Basically, we build white-label software, specifically in the telecom segment. We offer 2 main products to our clients and brand the products through our clients’ requirements, and they offer them to their end users. We manage the end-to-end technology and administer the solution.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
Our solution involves multiple parts, and we use different technologies. Some of these technologies were developed in-house, but it made sense to outsource others to a separate company. We’d used several external companies before hiring Yalantis. The main challenge was balancing both quality and cost.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We outsourced to Yalantis the application development for a solution of ours. We gave them the requirements, and they used their experience for handling the UI designs and the development of 2 native applications for iOS and Android. The first app involves voice-over IP calling services. Our backend and networks support this kind of functionality. We also have an old application that was connected to our network and making calls, but it was badly designed. Yalantis helped us revamp the UX and application design and development. They didn’t do marketing for us.
For the other app, which involves Wi-Fi access, they’ve pitched some good ideas around the marketing and the USPs [unique selling propositions] of the product and how we could present it to users.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
I can't recall how we came to work with Yalantis, but we first partnered with them 4 or 5 years ago on a small web design task. We were impressed with the quality of their work, the process they followed, and their general development. When we needed more app development and app design, we asked for proposals from different development houses, and Yalantis had the best offer in terms of quality and cost.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve probably invested more than £100,000 [$130,000].
What is the status of this engagement?
The application development took place in October or September 2016. Our first task happened probably 2 or 3 years ago. We do have support and new development activities ongoing with Yalantis.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our products are B2B2C. We launched our first service last week, so we’re still ramping up the numbers. We don’t have many users at this time. We’re quite happy with the response we’ve received internally as well as externally from friendly testers, users, partners, and clients to whom we pitched our services. The feedback, in general, has been quite positive, specifically on the app and its branding.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
One of Yalantis’ greatest strengths is their project management processes. We used Slack to communicate, and we usually had about 4 or 5 active people involved in our projects at Yalantis.
What did you find most impressive about them?
In general, Yalantis’ UI design stands out.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be more nimble.

In two months, Yalantis designed and developed a client mockup into a functional prototype presentable to investors. Afforded full creative license, they provided valuable insight on design and UX/UI.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
I'm the founder of a consumer app where we allowed people to share articles in a new way on mobile.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What business challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
My business wanted to go through a complete scrum period with Yalantis where we created a wireframe, and then designed it. I wanted to take my idea from out of my head and get it to something that is real and that I could take to investors and raise money for it.
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.
I did my own mockups and gave Yalantis specific instructions. I explained to them all the features and they were able to understand it at a high level and give me what I wanted. I was pleased with the designers. I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like, but I'm not a designer and gave them creative license. They gave me some key design points that I liked for the app. Once I was able to describe the feature sets specifically we put together a wireframe and then we designed it. It was important to take into account how users would be using it and best practice user interface for today's user. They were able to suggest many different things.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
I extensively searched for a partner to help me build my prototype. I was looking at Behance and Dribbble, and they both have many designs. I came across two people's designs that I liked, and it turned out both of these people worked at Yalantis. I decided that's who I would use for the prototype. I hire a lot of work from Upwork and across the world. I've learned a nice website doesn't always mean good, quality work. Yalantis had a nice website, and they had a nice blog they updated regularly. They had some high-level blogs. That partnered with me coming across two different designers organically that worked for them – I was impressed with them overall. Their blog pushed good content about the state of the app industry. It proved that they knew what they were talking about.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
My project cost between $10,000 and $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We're still raising money. I'm able to give my pitch to investors and show the prototype. It has been an ongoing project. After I raise funds, I'll be going to Yalantis for development. I had a six-month ongoing conversation with them because of the time it took to raise funds. They worked fast. When you put a deposit down, they allocate resources to you and give you a designer, a back-end guy, someone to answer your questions, and one or two project managers. The project was completed in two months.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
The prototype created by Yalantis has helped influence investors. The design is very exciting and new. It touches on a lot of stuff that people can see as something being very successful.
How did Yalantis perform from a project management standpoint?
They were top-notch. I don't know how other firms work because this is the first firm that I've hired. Part of the reason I used them is they had a very affordable hourly rate for the work that I saw they had online. Another deciding factor for me was they had done the StreetEasy app that Zillow purchased. Also, if I had gotten this done in the United States, it would have been $40,000.
What distinguishes Yalantis from other providers?
Yalantis was very affordable and always available. Even though they were across the world, we had set up times to schedule conversations. They would send me lists of questions that I would answer prior to our meetings, and it worked out very well. I had a positive experience with Yalantis. I think my project has the potential to be something special that people will use on a large scale.
Is there anything Yalantis could have improved or done differently?
Nothing comes to mind. In the beginning, they assigned me a designer but, then, they changed, which was not a big deal because nothing was done yet. I was trying to get to know the designer, and then they switched him. That was the only negative, but it turned out to be positive because the woman I worked with was amazing.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
Our organization is a mobile application that serves as a social business training marketplace.
What is your position?
I am the founder of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What business challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
They built the application on iOS that we intend to use as the core of our business.
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.
We defined how we envisioned the platform, and then collaborated with Yalantis to have them design and build the application.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
We were impressed by the prior projects they had as samples and how they were able to talk through them. Everything on Yalantis's website was extremely user-friendly. Most importantly, they addressed all of my questions. Deciding to build a piece of technology with a third party is a very risky project. You have to rely on them very heavily in your future business. The way they addressed all of my questions, regardless of what they were, was very reassuring. That was ultimately the deciding factor, given the time and effort, Yalantis showed they were willing to invest.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
The project cost between $50,000 and $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The status of the project is ongoing. We built the application in stages and started work in March 2015.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
Unfortunately, it is too early to share any statistics or metrics. We worked with Yalantis to build the application, and I think that it was done beautifully. We're working with a small group of people, but the application has not gone to market. As far as their performance, it was first rate and a 100 percent fit to what we believe clients look for. People that we have had use the application are definitely pleased with its functionality and the way it looks and what it does. However, there are always things to improve. This is not only my opinion, but the opinion of people we recruited to test out the application.
What distinguishes Yalantis from other providers?
Yalantis worked with our company as partners instead of just simply being an outsourced vendor. There are many companies that are concerned about their billable hours and the segments of project that they complete. These guys are far more involved in the overall. They give the user insight into how things could be done better. I'm pretty sure there are third-party developers out there who would just follow along with the client's initial specifications without any suggestion on how the process could have been better.
Is there anything Yalantis could have improved or done differently?
Some things are an inevitable part of the process. When you're building an application, you run into many unexpected issues in the sense that you build things that end up not being used. This is not because it is not needed, but because the market shows that some features are unnecessary. At the same time, I felt the delays that we experienced or the wrinkles in the process sometimes could have been handled more quickly on their end. That being said, I think many of the delays were caused on my end. Overall, communication with small details could be improved.

Yalantis completed the design and development of a social dating app, finalizing the prototype to an iOS and Android product. They had experience in creating dating apps and were small-business friendly.
The app is in both the App Store and Google Play with 150,000 downloads and about 50,000 monthly users. Despite a 9-hour time difference and exceeding the initial proposal, Yalantis has gone above and beyond in professionalism and marketing guidance.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
I am the founder of BroTech LLC. The application we had developed is called the Bro App. We're a mobile development company and currently our only application is the Bro App. It is a social app for men for friendship or dating.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What business challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
I came to Yalantis with a prototype and design for my application. Despite looking locally, I could not find a company in D.C. that could develop it. They helped finish the design and developed it into an iOS and Android product.
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.
I was trying to have the Bro App come out from prototype to development so that it would appear in the App Store.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
I looked in the United States and abroad on Elance [now Upwork]. I found them via a blog that I think was called Entourage, and they had information about creating a dating app. I saw they had experience with that. Much of the work that they did was very professional. I found many of the companies locally weren't willing to help with the development of the application unless I was willing to pay upward of $500,000 or more. They weren't small business-friendly. I came to Yalantis with an $80,000 to $100,000 proposal. I think the total cost has surpassed that now, but that's what the original proposal was.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
I have spent between $150,000 and $200,000 on this project with Yalantis.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started in October 2015 and we launched in January [2016]. I am still working with them.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
We currently have a version of the application on the iTunes App Store as well on Google Play. We've had 150,000 downloads as of today [August 2016] on both stores. We have 45,000 to 50,000 monthly active users.
What distinguishes Yalantis from other providers?
They were willing to help every step of the way. I'm a one-man team and they went above and beyond. They helped with marketing and offered support in things I may not have known. This is the first app I developed. They were able to help in other ways besides just development. They've been very flexible with payments. Everyone has been professional.
Is there anything Yalantis could have improved or done differently?
Yalantis can't help it, but they're in Ukraine, so the time they work - they start at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. D.C. time where I am. It's hard to communicate sometimes. When things go wrong they're available. But, it makes it difficult to help with the morning meetings. I think that they could schedule the meetings we have later in the day. The chat integration we used was called Layer. They're based out of California, so they're nine hours ahead of Yalantis. It is hard to find a time that works for both companies, I think to compensate Yalantis had someone stay late.

Yalantis developed the Android version of an existing iOS app that provides actors and other performers with voice and accent coaching.
Yalantis delivered a high-quality, professional app, and they did it respectfully and responsively. There was no criticism to report.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please briefly describe what your company does and the role that you play there?
The Big Gob Squad is a company of voice and accent coaches for theatre, film and TV. There are three of us coaches and we are all involved as Directors of the company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached Yalantis?
We created an app for iOS and needed an Android version. The London-based company we were working with prior to Yalantis was very busy and unable to develop the next platform for us. We found Yalantis after a lot of research.
SOLUTION
Can you tell me about the scope of the project, what were the exact services or methodologies Yalantis provided/implemented?
We brought on Yalantis to develop the Android version of a product we had already created. Their objective was to copy the original for android.
Can you give us a sense of the size of the project in dollar terms?
We had all our payments made in British Pound [GBP]. The cost for developing the Android version plus the first uploads of in-app purchases for both Android and iOS were just under £10,000 (approximately $15,000). We are continuing to spend more with Yalantis as this is an ongoing project for the Acting community. We will continue to upload files regularly to our app and we are happy to have Yalantis on board to continue to help us.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
When working with them, was there anything unique or special about them compared to other companies that you may have worked with?
Yalantis was very quick to respond to any questions we had. They treated us with respect and emails were properly addressed. Responsive communication was the thing that they did brilliantly on top of the actual development work, of course.
Looking back on the project, is there any area that they could improve upon or that you would have them do differently?
No.

Yalantis designed and developed in iOS app that used a photogrammetric algorithm to measure the volume of stacked logs for the lumber industry. The measurements are then uploaded to the server.
The team at Yalantis developed rapport in their communications; they were eager and accommodating at all times. Although the 12-hour time difference was an annoyance, Yalantis was always committed to delivering quality work. They resolved any issues immediately.

client over the phone. Below is an edited

BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
I have a very small company. It’s a limited liability company [LLC] that develops tools to help the timber industry in various ways.
What is your position?
It’s basically just me. I am the owner.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What business challenge were you trying to address with Yalantis?
I wanted a tool that would bring the timber industry into the 21st century
SOLUTION
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.
In this instance, I needed to create an app that could use a photogrammetric algorithm to measure the volume of stacked logs. With the app you would be able to basically walk around take pictures and analyze photos to turn it into a measured volume. That measurement would then be uploaded to a server to speed up the process of measuring the wood. This app is only available for iPad.
How did you come to work with Yalantis?
I interviewed maybe half a dozen places. It came down to Yalantis and one other company. A big part of the decision was cost. Yalantis had a lower cost than most everyone else but they were also very willing to accommodate my budget. A big part of it was the rapport as well. They were eager and friendly and they were very up front in communicating that what I wanted was not something they had done before. They were willing to do some exploratory work to get up to speed without charging me so that they could have the skills ready to go for the project itself. I think a combination of those things was what caused me to choose them.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
This project was worth between $10,000 to $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We have developed a prototype that we could share with people in the industry and get their feedback. The prototype is pretty robust and it demonstrated the full workflow. There are a number of buttons that don’t have functionality yet, but that is only a question of money to have them implemented.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
The industry feedback so far has been very positive. It will be a slow process to increase adapters. The industry has been measuring the volume of wood with a tape measure and archaic calculations for decades.
What distinguishes Yalantis from other providers?
Yalantis is very easy to work with. They never gave me any reason not to like them. They always had a certain eagerness in wanting to do a good job and continue the relationship. We had a couple of stumbling points, but we were able to move through those without any problems and found solutions that worked for both of us.
Is there anything Yalantis could have improved or done differently?
The only slight complication was that they’re located in the Ukraine and I am in Alaska. We have almost a 12 hour time difference. For communication, one of us had to be up at midnight to talk. There were times when things could have moved a little more quickly, but that’s not their fault. They were very accommodating.
