Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Regisco Immobilier, a software development firm focusing on the building and residential management industry. We’re developing an app that allows multi-unit residences to properly and efficiently plan their maintenance operations.

What challenge were you trying to address with Xtencio?

We developed a standalone app for our business with the help of a freelance programmer. This person built the app on Unity, using PHP as the programming language. Later, we needed to change some functionalities and make it a web-based app so that our users could access it more easily, so we hired Xtencio to help us with this project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Xtencio has helped us recode our app in JavaScript to meet our requirements. During the redevelopment process, we added a lot of other functionalities we wanted. To this day, they’re still part of our development team.

This app is basically a SaaS for building management operations. It has a dashboard where we can track the operations that need to be done. We can also create tasks, maintenance plans, contracts, and other assignments related to building management. Additionally, the software allows the users to automatically generate and follow preset maintenance tasks.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with two people from Xtencio: a project leader and a backend developer. These resources are integrated into our composed team, including me, my partner, and two other subcontractors.

How did you come to work with Xtencio?

We found Xtencio on LinkedIn. I was looking for a freelance software developer and found their CEO profile. Ultimately, we hired Xtencio because they understood our plans from the beginning and committed to some of the deliverables. Additionally, they communicated well, both in French and English.

When we talked with their CEO, he made us confident about what we wanted to accomplish, and he was familiar with the coding language we wanted to use. Thus, they seemed to be a good fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $100,000 CAD (approximately $77,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around January 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to our app redevelopment, we’ve been able to get our first clients. We’re still in the pre-launch process, but we’re onboarding new clients and making sales on the go. Additionally, the first users haven’t experienced any issues with the new app; everything works perfectly.

How did Xtencio perform from a project management standpoint?

Xtencio has performed very well. Given that they bring the project leader to our team, their main task is to review and understand our needs and the functionalities we want. This person is in charge of assigning tasks to the developer. After they deploy the code, they’re in charge of reviewing it and testing it. For this, they use end-to-end testing before moving to production.

Xtencio’s testing process is very easy, which allows us to deploy deliverables faster; that’s one of the most valuable aspects they’ve brought into the project. Before working with them, we didn’t have established testing processes. Now, whenever we deliver something, we know it works well. We use Jira, GitLab, and Slack for communication and project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Xtencio is a very committed team that communicates and works closely with their clients to understand their needs. Additionally, their reviewing process is meticulous, and they always meet their deadlines. Overall, Xtencio is very efficient, works fast, and delivers reliable code — they’re perfect.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Xtencio worked harder on the design side of development projects. Although it isn’t part of their current scope, I know that they’re trying to improve their mock-up and UI/UX designs, and they have great potential in that area.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should definitely hire Xtencio; they’re a good and trustworthy team.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The product they’ve developed works with good quality.

How did Xtencio perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management has been excellent; they have good availability and experience in building small and mid-sized staff applications. Regarding tools and communication, we use Slack and Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re an agile team willing to get the work done as soon as I need to.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — they’re great so far, and I have no complaints.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend working with them if you’re interested in building small staff applications, especially if you live in Canada — they understand the Canadian market very well and have great connections in the industry.
