BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Based in Paris, France, BAOUI is a company that aims to help English speakers learn the French language. I am the co-founder of this company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire xorum.io?

We hired Xorum.io for the development of our French language learning app for both iOS and android devices.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create the most comprehensive, easy-to-learn French language learning app with a modern yet very user-friendly design, and we wanted to structure the lessons in a way that would be clear, practical, fun, and customizable for users. We're only focusing on English speakers for now but plan on doing other languages in the future.

SOLUTION

How did you select xorum.io?

After posting the job description, we received interest from various app developers which we eventually narrowed down to five. Alla, the CEO of Xorum.io, was part of this final group of five.

We finally decided to go with Alla and her team because of the following reasons: - Their past projects (which are all available on Apple and Google stores and display their company name) have excellent design. - They specialize in EdTech industry so we knew they'd be able to create an efficient learning experience and user interface.

They are able to speak French and English which was a huge plus for us since this French language app is for English speakers. - They were very professional when they first presented their development process and the different steps needed in order to complete our project.

Describe the project in detail.

Before hiring Xorum.io, we thoroughly explained to them our vision and content plans for the app.

We wanted everything organized into the few following sections: Dialogue, Grammar, Vocabulary (which includes various types of exercises such as text and audio matching, correct word and letter placement, etc.), Practice (which includes instant access to all of our French translations and audio content), and Review (which tests users on what they've learned).

Alla, who was our main developer, was able to clearly explain the process and timeline, and she promptly answered all of our technical questions. When she sent the specifications, especially her impressive mockups and designs, we knew we'd be in good hands.

After many back and forth messages explaining exactly how we wanted everything (colors, text layout, etc.), we were very satisfied with the end result. We even decided to add more features and improvements toward the end of our project, and Alla and her team successfully implemented all of them (they developed our app using Kotlin).

They also helped us greatly with the whole process of signing up to both Apple developer and Google Play console programs (which were quite new to us) and did so by sending us several explanatory screenshots and videos.

What was the team composition?

The Xorum team has, I believe, at least 3 developers including Alla (who was my main communication throughout the whole project), Yevhenii, Den, and one other designer. They all worked on our app project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We haven't launched our app yet, but we've had numerous people test run it already, and all of their feedback so far has been very positive. The top compliments we've received so far have been about the design and the organized layout of each section, as well as the variety of fun exercises available.

Some of them also mentioned how different and unique our app experience is compared to other language learning apps.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very effective! This whole process went really smoothly thanks to Alla's great communication skills. She updated us regularly on the completion of each task and also let us know precisely when they would be done. She and her team were very responsive to any changes or improvements we requested.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The whole team is very knowledgeable, and we can feel they love what they do. They would even share coding tips with us along the way and ideas on how to improve the user's experience online which we really appreciated. Their biggest strengths are their communication, highly motivated work ethic, and patience.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We are very satisfied with the end result as well as the whole development process of our app. So far, we can't think of anything that we would have wanted to be done differently.
