BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

The organization is Northwestern Settlement. We're a 125-year-old settlement house here in Chicago, providing a range of social service to support families to disrupt generational poverty. We've got probably a dozen different programs, much of which focus on education as the path out of poverty for the families we support.

What is your position?

I am the IT [information technology] director.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with Witty Web Solutions?

We were in need of web development to tell our story to potential supporters, and to families who might be seeking our services. We wanted each site to have a similar feel.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

Witty Web Solutions built six sites for us. We wanted our sites to be easy to edit, so we could update content easily. We wanted it to be responsive, so that whatever device somebody was looking on, it worked well. We had a bit of content that we wanted to share through the site as well. Witty Web Solutions helped us do all of this.

Witty Web Solutions recommended we move to WordPress as our website's platform. I wanted the people from one program could post an event on their site, but also have it cross-posted in our other sites as well. They built a custom back end, a plug-in for WordPress, which we are very happy with.

How did you come to work with Witty Web Solutions?

I found them through a peer of mine. They recommended I look into them if I needed development work. I am happy with my decision.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was less than $10,000. Witty Web Solutions was very sensitive to the fact that our budget was small. We initially thought we were going to do two or three sites and realized we actually wanted to do six. Witty had the brilliant suggestion putting them on a monthly retainer so that their services would be available to us as we build out each of our new sites. Because of this, what we originally planned to spend on three sites, we ended up with six.

What is the status of this engagement?

The projects are all complete. We have purchased extra hours in case we have any questions so we can reach out to Witty Web Solutions moving forward.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We've gotten very positive feedback from our staff here at the Settlement and our users. They liked how the site looks and works.

How did Witty Web Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They did well. Their communication was great. They always kept us updated on the steps of each process, which we appreciated.

What distinguishes Witty Web Solutions from other providers?

Witty Web Solutions' responsiveness was outstanding. Witty Web Solutions had great creative and budget suggestions. They made the project smoother and definitely more affordable.

Is there anything Witty Web Solutions could have improved or done differently?

The customization took a little bit longer than I thought it was going to. It was delivered in the time frame it normally takes, but I would have liked it to be faster. Ultimately, it worked out, and I am happy with the product.
