We manage the project ourselves, so it is hard to measure their performance in that regard, but they deliver timely results. They have also adjusted to our originally planned budget. We use Jira as a project management tool and communicate using Slack and Google Meets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of the professionals they provide stands out. Although at one point they didn’t have a ton of resources available, the ones they had were top-notch. They also have a very transparent process, sharing every step of the process. Everything is going very smoothly.

WillDom helped us handle ERP implementation using Microsoft Dynamics for our customer at their Brazil location. The goal was to have the financial, supply chain, and accounting processes automated. WillDom located, hired, and coordinated local resources to support our customer's project. After 18 months, we handed the project over to our customer.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We had to complete the project in under two years, and thanks to WillDom, we met our customer's timeline. Our customer was happy, and the handover to their IT team went very smoothly. 

How did WillDom perform from a project management standpoint?

We had monthly reviews to discuss the project's progress and WillDom communicated very well via email. Sometimes retention can be a problem with projects of that size, but almost the entire team stayed on for the project's duration. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We weren't sure how to run a project with a near-shore partner, but WillDom was very professional, and their CEO was very accessible. Their team is ethical and professional — we never had issues with them not following labor or taxation laws. It was incredibly easy to facilitate projects through them because I trusted them not to get us into legal trouble.

I have nothing for WillDom to improve.

I'd advise customers to discuss the project with WillDom's leadership and be upfront about their expectations. Additionally, customers should clarify what resources they want working on the process and how the knowledge transfer process will work. It's essential to treat WillDom as if they're a part of the customer's team and keep communication open.

WillDom is a strategic partner in the digital transformation process that we began at Sancor Salud more than 5 years ago. Together with Willdom, we created the company's new core applications that allowed us to reach the more than 600,000 affiliates we have today and serve them efficiently and effectively, facilitating the way of contracting products, and access to service centers and providers.

What challenge were you trying to address with WillDom?

I needed help validating an idea that I had about a virtual marketplace for professionals in the music industry where they could exchange services. I wanted to make it easier for people to reach out to a pool of their interests.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WillDom sent me a scope with the description of the services they were proposing. One was an in-person workshop for three days where there was a very clearly described series of steps for receiving all the feedback and information I had in my mind. After that, we had a brainstorming session followed by a methodology they described to me, which came from Google. Their proposal sounded good, and we accepted it and jumped into the execution of the workshop.

They then did a really good analysis of my competitors — which included the strengths and weaknesses of those companies and what we needed to overcome in order to be competitive. The team designed the MVP in a smart way by using affordable and available technologies such as WordPress. Furthermore, they did the graphic design and all the communication elements for people to understand my concept. They created a way for people to log in, register, and capture all the information of users, too. They also created a markup of what the real product would be without spending too much on the development.

Overall, we had a workshop for three days, which were all 8-hours each. After that, they spent two weeks creating the product. I then went to a music industry event that took place here. With their help, I introduced the idea to the assistant of the event, and that was where I gathered most of the data. The team worked with me through the whole process up until they gave me their analysis and recommendations.

While I tested in Paraguay, the workshop made me realize the potential and challenges that came with my idea. I realized that the main challenge was how to populate the site because that needed a very big investment for advertising and promotion. As a result, we stopped because there was a very big risk of failure if I didn't have enough resources.

Despite that, I had the opportunity to test the MVP, which was a portal that allowed people to know what we were about and enabled them to subscribe to the site so that we could capture the data from the users and do analysis afterward. During that time, we captured around 40 users in a few days. After the final analysis, I clearly saw that I needed to raise capital for my idea to happen. The risks were very high because there might not be enough momentum to achieve my idea.

WillDom provided an MVP that gave me the information to make smart decisions as opposed to hastily jumping into the execution. In doing that, I was able to save time, money, and energy. The team was very professional, and we didn’t have any curveballs or surprises. With their support, I went to the music event on time with everything in my hands. Overall, we had an extremely good and productive experience with them.

How did WillDom perform from a project management standpoint?

WillDom delivered on time, and they didn’t spend a dime above the budget. We used Asana, but most of our communication was done through phone and WhatsApp.They also followed a very well-defined process — they were thorough, focused, and executed everything well. The team shared what they intended to do in the beginning and outlined the steps we needed to do. In connection with that, the steps were exactly followed through as proposed, with very clear and precise timelines and budgets. Overall, they did what they told us they were going to do.

The clarity of their proposals was impressive as well as the simplicity and directness of the way they treated their clients.

No, they were very friendly. Nothing was missing in our engagement.

I’m the co-founder of Slick, a software that many companies use to increase employee engagement.

What challenge were you trying to address with WillDom?

We wanted to upgrade our Cloud-based web application’s backend technology and software architecture, and we also needed to improve some features on the frontend. We were on a budget and had a tight deadline to complete this development, so we hired WillDom to help us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WillDom helped us develop a personalized heat map into our platform, which one of our clients required. To achieve this task, they provided us with a software developer knowledgeable about React and Redux, the technology stack of our platform’s frontend. As for the backend, they provided us with two backend developers who helped us upgrade from Symfony 3 to Symfony 4.5, which was the framework we used.

We worked with three people from WillDom: one frontend developer and two backend developers.

A friend of mine happened to know one of WillDom’s owners, so he referred me to them. I knew that they offered their services to large software companies, which made me want to work with them. I also considered other developers, but I ended up choosing WillDom because they were the most flexible in terms of pricing, and they offered the fastest turnaround time when presenting the candidates.

We started working together around July 2020, and we finished the project in September 2021. However, we want to keep working with them on other projects.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Before engaging with WillDom, we were struggling to find the three profiles needed for each part of the project. One of the most successful results was that they presented us with three candidates for each position from one day to another, which helped us save time and deliver quickly the functionality they needed to our clients. That result was a lifesaver.

The other great thing about working with WillDom was their flexibility. They were open to negotiating the price we would pay for each developer’s work hour based on our understanding of every candidate’s background.

How did WillDom perform from a project management standpoint?

WillDom’s project management was great. My CTO was in charge of supervising the project daily, but I got really good feedback from him about their work. We had a biweekly meeting, and they were always very responsive. We made some changes along the way, and they were very helpful in that sense.

The communication was also great. They assigned a project manager to take care of the project and ensure that everything went well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

WillDom had a deep pool of talent, and we were just one call away from getting the people we needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re now expanding to Europe, and I don’t know if they already have resources there, but it would be good if they could provide us with their services in that region.

Make sure that you have the opportunity to do a background check on the candidates they present to you and negotiate with them the price based on their skills.

I’m the executive director at Centro de Desarrollo Sostenible, a sustainability firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with WillDom?

We needed help with development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We did two projects with WillDom. First, they developed a mobile application for an organization in charge of street repair. If a citizen saw a road that needed repair, they could take a photo, which then went to the municipality in charge of repairing it. The app was built for both iOS and Android. Since the organization has elections every five years, the app was used for about 3–4 years.

The second project was larger. WillDom developed web software for the National Directorate of Public Procurement to help with legal procedures management. It helped in the entire public procurement process. It was built using Angular.js, HTML, and CSS. Additionally, we used Java stack for the backend and PostgreSQL for the database. There was also a module that used machine learning techniques for data analysis of public procurement. Specifically, the analysis focused on the tech team’s anomaly detection with a data mining method.

The product was integrated with the National Directorate of Public Procurement’s main web software. It enabled the public office to manage the legal proceedings involved in public procurement. For example, public procurement can have a complaint that generates a legal procedure. The legal process needs to be managed and tracked, like an electronics procedures web system.

What is the team composition?

For the first project, there were two developers on their side and a project lead on our side. For the second project, there were two people from WillDom and about six people in total.

How did you come to work with WillDom?

I knew a lot of people working in Paraguay in the area of information and communication technology. WillDom had 4–5 people that were students at the National University of Asuncion, where I’m a teacher. They were known for their professional work.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WillDom worked with us to accomplish an in-house AI project, which required API integration and backend development. We built a machine learning application that predicted data and contained more than 10 million records into a single database. Furthermore, we needed the application to process claims and data within milliseconds.

One of the tools they relied on throughout the development process was Python. We used it to extract data from existing websites and maintain a robust database. They then deployed the product using a cloud-based architecture, and we also used Leopard and Elasticsearch to work on the app’s infrastructure.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our company wanted to launch a new product in the market, but we didn’t have enough resources to work on its development. WillDom first came into the picture to assist our in-house team and take part in building our product.

We kicked off our partnership by having initial discussions and preliminary exchanges of ideas on how both parties want to tackle the first project. WillDom then presented their staffing model, which allowed us to handpick the resources from their team that we wanted to have onboard with our in-house development team.

As our development needs changed and the project phase required more resources, WillDom sent us member profiles from their extensive database. We examined those to determine who we wanted to onboard for a certain task. The project ran from January–August 2018. They delivered our requirements, but unfortunately, our product didn’t go live as we came across a more lucrative business option along the way.

WillDom was a professional team that met our expectations and requirements. We had an extensive scope and changing needs, but they understood that and accommodated our feedback. In the end, we were rewarded with a well-coded and bug-free product that all passed our testing stages.

We communicated via instant messaging and video calls, while we used Jira to track the flow of the project. WillDom had impressive project management skills — we never found the need to follow up on anything because they were always well aware of our timelines.

Apart from their professionalism, WillDom’s attention to detail definitely stood out in our partnership. Their team always paid attention to clarity and specificity, and that was apparent in their deliverables. They were impressively unassuming — they always made sure to ask the right questions.

WilDom could refine their knowledge on the latest industry trends. It’s not really in line with our experience, but they could benefit from expanding their adherence to the industry trends and standards and bringing more innovative ideas to the table, especially because we’re part of an industry that’s constantly evolving.

Ask clear questions and define your needs the same way. Launching a project with half-baked ideas will not do your business good. WillDom is a collaborative team that will work hard to align with your vision, so you just have to outline your expectations clearly from the get-go.

We needed a custom platform built.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WillDom provided full-stack JavaScript engineering services to build a custom platform from scratch. They helped migrate our website from PHP to JavaScript, and then incorporated functionality for staff and vendors.

They built the engine that runs on the platform. The core functionality is the TMS (translation management system). They also helped with the ERP.

The system works because we receive a request from a contact for translation services, such as for files. We assign people to tasks for different workflows. They have a dashboard to see upcoming, current, and completed tasks and receive notifications.

Project managers watch progress and have access to all the files.

Their team laid out the foundation of the platform we run today, both the functionality and testing. We test based on how many words of a specification are delivered per day in terms of functionality and/or in terms of end-to-end specifications per day.

They worked at roughly twice the speed of previous providers. They were definitely instrumental in executing my vision and getting us to where we are in the top 20 in our industry globally.

They weren’t hired for project management, but they’re excellent communicators with a good command of the English language and technology. We communicated daily through Google Chat and used the entire Google Suite.

WillDom has a good culture around work ethic. Their engineers are committed to getting the work done. They tackled complex challenges, building novelty things for our industry.
