Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a food technology startup. Our goal is to deliver better pizza faster. We have a fleet of mobile trailers equipped with woodburning ovens. These trailers are located strategically throughout a metropolitan area based on where demand for pizza is highest.

What challenge were you trying to address with Webdevelop PRO?

We needed help with website development. We had built our initial website using WordPress, but it was slow and the plugins were outdated.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They migrated my website to a new IP because the platform had been built under someone else’s account. They also did updates to optimize the performance. This included added multiple new features and integrating tools such as Google Maps. We also moved from GoDaddy to a more robust hosting platform. 

They used Ruby, among other coding languages. They also took over the management of one of the APIs that we use to track delivery.

I worked with two people. 

How did you come to work with Webdevelop PRO?

One of my friends recommended them to me. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $30,000 so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I think we started working together in March 2020, and our engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The speed of our website increased by 150%. In addition, our bounce rates dropped pretty dramatically. Now, we don’t have any interruptions in service with our website and logistics platform. 

How did Webdevelop PRO perform from a project management standpoint?

They met our deadlines, and often, they even delivered prior to the scheduled deadline. They’re pros, and it’s clear they know what they’re doing. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to understand my challenges. I felt like they really listened to me. They were also strategic and brought me new, better solutions. Their ability to understand my goals was impressive. They added a lot of value. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

I can’t think of any issues I had with them which is rare. Our only obstacle was the time difference since they’re in Barcelona and I’m on PST. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Be responsive. When they reach out, get back to them as quickly as possible because they move fast.

I was the founder and CEO of a company called GrowthFountain LLC. We were an equity crowdfunding platform.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Webdevelop Pro?

The goal of the project was multifaceted, but we started out with the need to build our website from scratch and maintain and grow its functionality and user base from there.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a vision for the platform that was enabled by new legislation and needed to build all of the capabilities we wanted from scratch and using to a 600-page law as a guide. We developed the specs for the project and wireframed everything out, and then Webdevelop PRO helped us build that into a functional site using Python, JavaScript, and HTML.

That included the frontend and backend of the platform, customer portals, and operational dashboards. Individuals are able to come to the site and seem campaigns of companies that were actively raising money. When you click in, you could see the description of the company and team, along with images videos, legal documents, and pretty much everything else you would need to be able to make the decision to invest.

Webdevelop PRO built out the capabilities necessary for companies to be able to list their projects and upload all of the relevant information, as well as the profile making and banking connections necessary to allow individuals to invest in those projects. Once all of the site functions were in place, they continued to work to upgrade those as necessary and make sure everything ran smoothly.

What was the team composition?

We didn’t have a specifically titled project manager, but there were 6–8 members of their team working with us who possessed a wide array of skillsets, and one of their senior engineers helped a lot to organize and coordinate all of the efforts with us.

How did you come to work with Webdevelop Pro?

Vlad (Owner) actually came to us through HeadHunter. We interviewed a lot of different candidates, and he was head and shoulders above the rest of them. He was fantastically fast, competent, excited, and able to build a team that could provide exactly what we needed.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about a total of $600,000–$700,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

The bulk of the project ran from around May 2016–December 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I didn’t have any hard KPIs that I used to measure their performance, but the site was incredibly stable throughout the entire course of our work with them. We had our system down occasionally when we QAd and pushed out major releases, but we were able to get to a place where our system was not buggy at all and we had no issues with customers running into problems.

How did Webdevelop PRO perform from a project management standpoint?

Development is incredibly hard to estimate deadlines in, and possibly even harder to meet them, so that’s not something I typically blame any developer for. However, the team from Webdevelop PRO was absolutely phenomenal at doing everything they could to make sure the accomplished our priorities on time and were delivering timeline estimates that they could stick to.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a real ownership mentality that a lot of outsourced teams just don’t have. They get excited about the work product that they create and about the success of their client’s company, almost as much as any internal employee that we have. That to me is the biggest compliment I could give them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We probably could have tightened up the documentation process a little bit. I think there’s always room for improvement in any team, but on the whole, I really have no complaints.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

In general, my advice for working with any development team is to understand how you want your process to work so that you can lay out the steps for them from wireframing to production to development and all the necessary steps in between. With this team in particular, once you establish that, everything should play out pretty seamlessly.
