I'm almost reluctant to write this review as I wish to keep Vortex entirely for ourselves, but great work deserves honest praise. We were skeptical at first, as every time we hire a 'all-in-one' services company (as opposed to an individual), the results have not been great. However, we decided to give Vortex a shot and OH BOY, have they been delivering for us! At one point, we gave them more assignments than they had staff to fill, and we will continue to expand the amount of assignments we send them. 

We hired Vortex.Video to help us edit tons of YouTube videos for our channel, LegalEagle. Mostly shorts, but also longs and special projects. Each project involved ingesting several hours of A-roll footage, cutting it into a sharp, cohesive story, and adding b-roll, motion graphics, and humor to match our channel’s house style. When producing shorts for our main channel, we required them to fully understand the editorial and use their own creative intuition to make decisions in how to build a cohesive and effective short when cutting down from an extant long form video.  Their work had to blend seamlessly with other editors across different time zones, and they quickly mastered our internal workflows with Frame.io, slack, Dropbox, Google Drive, and Notion. They've contributed emmensly to our efforts with creativity and speed, often turning edits around within 48 hours.

The videos achieved hundreds of thousands of views and they successfully took on shorts production, which demanded skill, high artistic taste, understanding of our audience, and understanding of our highly technical content.  The speed and efficiency at which they work is a marvel!

What was the scope of their involvement?

VORTEX.video provides video editing services for our long-form and short-form content. The process starts with a concept for a video, which might involve filming at home, in the street, or collecting footage and writing the script around it. However, I mainly handle the scriptwriting, and the team is focused on editing.

Then, I record the content as an interview or a monologue and send the recording to the editors with instructions. I leave much room for them to make their own calls. They use their editing tools and then send me a first draft.

The editing includes taking a long interview and cutting out what is not necessary. The editors decide what is needed and what is not, sometimes moving things around. Most importantly, VORTEX.video finds visual aids, which we call B-roll, to make the video look good and interesting. It's the editors' job to look for good shots to add to the video to make it interesting.

Afterward, I review it and provide editing guidance. We go through a number of drafts to get it to the right place, and then I publish it on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

If a user saw a video on various platforms, they should be able to know that it came from us. In other words, we wanted our branding to be consistent.

VORTEX.video provides video editing and postproduction services. They’re responsible for our social media and website videos, including our Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

Whenever we start a project with Viktor (Video Editor & Co-Founder), Anton (CTO), and their team, we create and assign tasks with detailed descriptions of the deliverables. We include details on where to upload the videos, the scripts, and the raw video they must edit. We either assign them one-time projects or recurring tasks. 

For example, if our sales director has a one-hour video, we divide it into 20 clips. We upload the video on Google Drive, and the VORTEX.video team works on it. We give them feedback and revisions, if any, and they revise their outputs as necessary. 

Moreover, VORTEX.video works on highlighting some aspects of our videos using 3D or 2D components. We create ads, so if we want to make a GIF or a video montage, the team handles it. They edit interviews and turn them into different clips with varying lengths, and we then post the clips on social media. Viktor ensures the videos look aesthetically pleasing and flow seamlessly. They trim some parts that are either unnecessary or redundant, such as fillers.

Because of the videos from VORTEX.video, our Instagram followers have grown to 61,000. We have around 19,000 followers on Facebook, around 154,000 followers on TikTok, and around 9,000 subscribers on YouTube. While our ads and SEO efforts have contributed to our growth, the main driver is the videos — they generate a lot of traffic. As a result, we’ve gained higher CTRs and better brand awareness.

For project management, we use Asana, where we assign their tasks alongside the full instructions. We also use a Google Spreadsheet to mark whether their deliverables have not been started yet, pending, ready for revision, uploaded, or published. Everything is organized, and the team is always punctual and communicative via Slack.

Viktor is communicative, proactive, and talented. He makes sure that we’re satisfied and is willing to go through 4–5 revision rounds to meet our standards. Overall, he’s a talented video editor, and we like how he handles the team. He makes sure that everything is top-quality and meets our expectations. It’s rare to find video editors like him — others simply edit videos for the sake of editing them.
