I am the vice sales manager at CO-WELL Co., LTD. We are a multinational software corporation. We started in Japan, but soon expanded to Vietnam. Since our start in 2007, we have grown into one of the leading enterprises in the field of offshore development, as well as in Vietnam’s general IT industry.

For what projects/services did your company hire The Vietnam Security Network?

With the rise is cyber attacks, we wanted to ensure the safety and security of our internet portals for our clients. Our in-house security team didn’t have the necessary capabilities to carry out this project.

We wanted to identify, and quickly fix any possible vulnerabilities.

We found several security companies both in Japan and offshore, but The Vietnam Security Network was most qualified to handle our project. We were impressed by their respectable list of past clients and their proven strength in the security industry.

The Vietnam Security Network used their reports to improve security for one of our clients. The team managed the quoting and purchase ordering processes and chose the best report template, test environment, and test engagement method for the project. Our confidentiality clause prevents me from sharing any further details.

What was the team composition?

I worked with a sales manager and a technical leader. Together, we established a testing plan and drafted the appropriate paperwork for pricing and invoicing.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The Vietnam Security Network worked diligently to meet all of our requirements and adhere to our hard deadlines. We completed two evaluation rounds and fixed the security threats that arose with each. Given the tight schedule and our limited budget, we consider the outcome extremely successful.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We clearly defined all tasks in advance to ensure both our teams were on the same page regarding requirements, deadlines, and which team members were responsible for what elements. The workflow was seamless. The Vietnam Security Network was very responsive and had command over both the English and Japanese languages. We really appreciated this because our in-house team included both domestic and offshore developers.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a customer-first approach to the project, so they are very flexible and accommodating of our needs.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

Overall, I was quite satisfied with their services. There isn’t any area in which they need to improve.

I'm the sales director at Aegle Sight Pte Ltd. The company began in 2011 and offers software development and training consultancy for government clients in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

We needed to develop a mobile network testing app. We were looking for a partner with an in-depth understanding of Android capabilities and mobile network protocols.

We had to create a solution that prompts phones to perform complicated calling scenarios.

We’ve worked with The Vietnam Security Network for a few years while selling numerous analytical solutions to the government. They started as a security company and later developed their own security products. Because they also conduct malware reverse-engineering and penetration testing, I trusted their in-depth coding capabilities.

The project is classified, so I cannot divulge the details. They handled all of the product development using an agile methodology. They also provided UX design, technical documentation, and user-acceptance testing environments.

They documented our requirements meticulously and were systematic and responsive in resolving issues.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They gave regular updates, especially during the development stage, and kept to our timeline. They tracked issues diligently and provided releases to resolve them faster than I expected because of the time difference.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They’re committed to prompt delivery and clearly explained what they can and cannot do. If something wasn’t possible, they articulated the technical challenge, which helped us find a workaround.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

They documented everything according to our required format and content. However, since English is not their first language, the documentation needed some correction before we released it to the client. For a small project, this wasn’t a big deal. For more complex projects, I’d recommend that they engage a technical writer who is proficient in English to complement their development team.

I oversee development teams for a system integrator company. We’re headquartered in Tokyo and focus on providing large-scale email solutions to millions of users of internet service providers (ISP) or generic service providers (xSP) in Japan.

We won a contract to develop a web-based email system for a major ISP in Japan. We needed to hire a third-party company to evaluate any possible security threats in our system before delivering it to the customer for acceptance testing.

First, we wanted to evaluate our product’s security thoroughly and receive advice about fixing threats. We also had to make sure our product followed all common security standards and limit the project cost based on our development budget.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had a brief window in which we needed to accomplish this project (including the quote, purchase order, report template, test environment, test engagement, and invoicing). The Vietnam Security Network team did their utmost to adhere to our schedule. Within two months, we were able to execute two rounds of evaluating and fixing security threats for our product. Given our tight schedule and limited budget, we considered this outcome a great success.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We defined all tasks clearly in advance; both teams understood what to do, when to deliver, and to whom to report. The workflow between the two teams was seamless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They offer flexibility and a customer-first attitude. Even though our project schedule was so tight, The Vietnam Security Network still finished their evaluation quickly while satisfying all our requirements. This allowed our development team to spend more time on implementing fixes before the second round of testing.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We communicated in English for the most part, but other companies may encounter some potential issues if they wanted to communicate primarily in Japanese. The Vietnam Security Network may need to employ more Japanese speakers.

With the constant rise in cyber attacks, we want to ensure the safety and security of our internet client portals. We hired The Vietnam Security Network to augment our security team’s limited capabilities.

We needed to identify and remediate any possible vulnerabilities as soon as possible.

I had worked with them before and their excellent service was the reason I chose them again.

Once the selection process was over, we sent them our scope of work and they sourced it accordingly. They conducted a penetration test, then forwarded us their report and recommendations. The recommendations were quite useful and helped our developers fix the vulnerabilities within a few days. The vendor also offered a free re-test to ensure the success of the repairs.

What was the team composition?

In addition to working with the account manager early on, I worked with four other people, who were experts in the various programming languages and software frameworks.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All vulnerabilities were found and fixed. Now, our sales team can proudly and confidently assure clients that their data is safe with us.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The AM and engineers were very professional and responsive. We primarily communicated via Skype.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their work was very detailed and thorough with correct recommendations and in-depth explanations. I was so impressed by their knowledge in the security field.

Overall, I was quite satisfied with them. There is nothing they need to improve.

We hired The Vietnam Security Network (VSN) to create a proof of concept. At that time, we were in a rush and didn't have enough resources to get the job done.

While I can’t give specifics, I can say that the result was great. Our client loved their work.
