Tech Assets is a high technology holding company, and part of the Deluxe brand. I work as a project manager for our hosting platforms.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Viccsun?

We needed help on a Bootstrap 4 version of our VerticalResponse platform. I initially farmed it out to a couple of contractors we’d worked with previously, but we ultimately ended up going with Viccsun.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They mostly work in the Bootstrap Nexus theme. They’re doing a lot of design work that fits within a consistent framework. They’re able to decipher what exists on the current VerticalResponse platform, and then implement new versions for the new build.

What is the team composition?

I work with Sunny (owner, Viccsun).

How did you come to work with Viccsun?

I found them through Upwork. I had probably about 90 applicants. They supplied the best looking design work. They're also very familiar with the Bootstrap environment and theme that we were looking to use.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent approximately $6000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in the middle of January 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Not yet. Work is ongoing and none of it’s live.

How did Viccsun perform from a project management standpoint?

There’s a lot of scattered information within my company, so I decipher everything as best I can before sending it over. They’re really successful at getting things done, and their turnaround time is usually about 48 hours.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I've worked with other groups that can't come to a decision on design aspects because one person is the lead and there’s 15 other people working on the project. Viccsun is able to quickly come up with really good designs, and they turnaround projects really fast.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes it takes extra time to email back and forth to clarify project information. There’s an occasional communication breakdown, but usually that's only if I’ve sent a long email asking a lot of different questions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Viccsun?

Our internal dev team didn’t have a designer who could take new functionalities and put them into an HTML format that looked good. We needed someone to help with that UI/UX.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

All of Viccsun’s projects were small and about one week each. Most were forms we needed integrated into a web application. He knows how to work with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. One of our graphic designers makes the interface, and Viccsun puts it into a format that our dev team can utilize and build the functionality for. He makes sure the layout is balanced, organized, and clean-looking.

Viccsun uses Bootstrap to organize all the different buttons and sliders and show us his work. He provides a working mockup of the forms, which we can collaborate on to improve.

What is the team composition?

We just work with Viccsun.

How did you come to work with Viccsun?

We put our project up for bid online, and Viccsun was the bidder with the best past work, so we hired him.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $10,000–$25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since September 2014.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From a productivity standpoint, our developers work much better now. They don’t have to worry about making the forms look good since Viccsun’s already done that.

Part of our appeal to our clients is that we offer a clean and intuitive user experience. Viccsun has helped us deliver that promise to our customers.

How did Viccsun perform from a project management standpoint?

Viccsun is responsive and responsible. I’ve never had to ask him what he’s doing or where his work is—he delivers on time and keeps us updated on his progress. I’ve worked with a lot of unreliable developers, but Viccsun isn’t one of them.

We mainly communicate over email and Skype. I’ll send over drawings, he’ll send back links to his work, I’ll provide feedback, and we’ll do that until it’s finished.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Vicccsun consistently turns in work on time or before deadlines, and the quality is always great. When you’re running a company, you need reliable and responsive partners—Viccsun is that and more.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have anything negative to say about Viccsun; working with him has been quite pleasant.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

The more details you provide to Viccsun, the better he’ll be able to deliver something that closely matches what you want.
