I’m the digital marketing head for a lending company with roughly 4,000 offices across India.

What challenge were you trying to address with VerboLabs?

We needed to simplify our call center process and improve our customer experience.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They translated our interactive voice response (IVR) content and DIY animated videos from English into nine of the most spoken Indian languages. They set up the recording studio and provided the voice-over actors.

We worked with three people from their team.

How did you come to work with VerboLabs?

We found them on Google. We were impressed with the samples of their previous work and decided to hire them.

We spent $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2019–July 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Due to the increased languages available, our customer experience improved and had better quality. We were extremely satisfied with the outcome of the engagement. As a result, the VerboLabs team would continue to receive our business.

How did VerboLabs perform from a project management perspective?

The engagement was smooth, and they always delivered on time. We communicated via email.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

They were experienced, and they did a great job. I appreciated that the CEO was involved and kept things on track.

Make sure they have complete clarity regarding your expectations, so they can do their best work for you.

I worked with VerboLabs at my previous company where I was the senior creative producer.

What challenge were you trying to address with VerboLabs?

We were producing videos for a London-based NGO client around gender equality. Our scripts were in Hindi so, we needed a lot of literal translations and subtitles. That’s why we hired Prithvi (Founder & CEO, VerboLabs) and her team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did standard translations for us. We weren’t looking for quality-oriented translations for subtitling since the London team was looking at those scripts from the point of view of safeguarding. 

Apart from producing some trailers, VerboLabs made about 12 short-form YouTube videos in the timespan of 6–7 months.

Prithvi was our sole point of contact.

How did you come to work with VerboLabs?

They’d been working with my previous company for quite some time. Someone referred me to them so I reached out to Prithvi.

What is the status of this engagement?

I worked with VerboLabs from April–June 2019, which was when the first phase launched. I left the company but the project is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

There were no metrics in place but the work was approved by our creative team. Having said that, there were no constant quality problems. Most of the time, we needed things done fast and VerboLabs delivered on time without us having to push them.

How did VerboLabs perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication was very good. Prithvi was my single point of contact and she was there for me when I needed something done quickly. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their response time was good, which was crucial. Quality was important, but we were more concerned about quick turnaround time, per the client’s requirements.

Prithvi was pretty efficient both work- and time-wise. There were times when I had to rush her and she did a good job turning it around on time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

VerboLabs could be more quality-focused. Subtitling is a tough job and expressing the idea behind something in another language is not easy. We required them to deliver basic work, which they did, but I think they could improve their quality and expression. Their subtitles are not of the same quality as those we see on Netflix or Amazon. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

My advice has to do with planning in advance. When I was working with them, the requirements weren’t clear from our side sometimes and we kept changing briefs. 

I realized that when we were clear about what we needed, the team did well. It helps if the details given at the start are comprehensive and complete.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a welfare manager of a Tanzania based research agency working to address the challenges facing Nature and Humanity and suggesting measures to tackle them.

For what projects/services did your company hire VerboLabs Languages, and what were your goals?

We had just finished our research on the effects of Covid 19 pandemic worldwide and we aimed to publish the results in multiple languages to reach as many international organizations as possible and they made it real.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They were referred to us by another firm, after going through their portfolio, we were moved by their strategic project handling so we decided to give them a try and gladly they worked wonders.

They Translated and transcribed more than 30 10-30min video clips into many languages including Swahili, Pashto, Belarus, Mandarin etc. The video clips were reports from the locales were Covid19 pandemic had hit badly and the locals had vast dialectal differences from one another so the translation work was hard but they managed to get through with it and localized them precisely.

What was their cost structure like?

They set their rates based on total word count, target language and topic complexity. With a large base of freelancers they can easily manage huge projects at the most considerable prices.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Their work pushed us further on a global scale and that improved our company's image and attracted more reliable connections

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We trusted this vendor to give accurate translations and transcriptions on time, regardless of language. They always provide accurate and timely translations

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They could have removed more filler words in their translations but that's just a small issue.
