What impressed the most about Uzer is their determination to fully understand the nature of the software and industry for which they are designing a new UI / UX.

When working with an English speaking company it would be a good idea to have more staff who are fluently bilingual / multi-lingual with English being one of the fluent languages. Generally Uzer did quite well in this area however there were instances where minor miscommunications occurred (though easily cleared up) due to language differences.

They had to go in deep using our web pages mundoaventura.com.co and tienda.mundoaventura.com.co in order to trace the activity user did during the exercise. As well they had to interview users to receive feedback and even to come to the park in order to check the experience a customer have with the products they bought in our pages.

We took into account all main recommendations they gave us through the deliverables and currently, we have more sales than previous weeks in our website. In the same way we are finishing the main developments we decided to apply after review UZER' recommendations and we expect to increase sales even more.

After our own research, we decided to create a startup for people who wants to exercise with a professional fitness coach at home. The challenge was leading an innovation process through Design Thinking and design the UX/UI for a mobile app to program the coaches and admin the process.

I was looking for a great UX and Graphic design for my App, I met UZER when I was employee in another company, they were very good, so after a benchmark I decided to work with them.

UZER first explained us the plan for the process and sent a timeline, worked through workshops to define audience, user journeys and brand language. Next they interviewed potential customers and created insights and documentation that we approved. After that, they came back with a UX concept proposal. They designed with wireframes first and tested, after approval and adjustments they completed the graphic design for the interface. We loved it.

An innovation consultant that lead workshops, a project manager, a UX Director and some designers.

Their experience, they had cases about many businesses. Their design was great, I didn't know a process like this is so methodic. I've talked to other entrepreneurs at startup events and I feel like our app was designed very smartly compared to others.

They were like a part of our team; their skills plugged into our processes amazingly. Despite of the client knew they were separated company specialized in UX/UI, they felt confortable since the design decisions were always right and proper to our software capabilities. The designs and services were great too, world class!

We searched in google for UX design companies, we listed the best 5 in LATAM. We interviewed them and selected UZER because of their experience, their great recommendations, consultancy process, design skills and seriousness.

They started explaining us about the design thinking methodology, they conducted workshops for Buyer personas and buying journeys. They performed a benchmark and a research with some of our current customers and some potential. From there, they presented a document with insights for the business and for the customer experience and conducted brainstorming sessions. After that they presented a User experience concept through a prototype. Based on that we had together some meetings to iterate and advance while they created wireframes for the most important processes. After that they performed a testing with customers and iterated a bit more. With final wireframes working fine they created the Graphic design for the app.

We had interaction with their UX lead, an innovation consultant, a UX designer and a UI designer.

We were very happy with the process and the outcomes, the UX process gave us a new vision from the customer's point of view. We tested the product with some potential customer with positive feedback.

We loved the way they lead the process, the research, the workshops, and their consultancy. They were very committed to our business goals and they guided us to create good definitions user centered. The design was amazing. We are very glad we hired them.

They had great skills in understanding our business, guiding the process, and even communicating with development team in technical terms. Their commitment was impressive, they always met the defined times and schedules. They added an expert point of view on everything they did. They were also very nice people.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the global IT director at Decowraps, a manufacturing company that sells packaging for flowers, bouquets, and different plants.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with UZER?

We needed help with web development and design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

UZER is helping us design and develop our website and e-commerce platform. Although we had a previous version of the site created in a custom platform, the team started from scratch because we wanted to use a more standard platform. They built the new site in the Adobe version of Magento, called Adobe Commerce.

First, the team reviewed our digital strategy and came back with a new strategy proposal for our website. As for design, we have brand guidelines that dictate colors and look and feel. Our US and Europe marketing team worked with UZER using the design thinking methodology through some workshops, and they created a proposal for the site’s UI/UX. We then added some aspects that we wanted to include.

From there, we started working with the developers on the middleware and interface. We released the first version of the e-commerce website last year, where customers can only order samples. So far, we’ve released the webpage for Europe, the US, and Latin America. 

Currently, UZER is working on the second phase of the project, which involves applying improvements to the site. We’ll launch the B2C side of the site this year. After development is finished, they’ll provide maintenance and updates for a year.

What is the team composition?

We work with the project director, a senior developer, a junior developer, an architecture specialist, the director of design, and the director of UX design. Sometimes we also use a translator since some of UZER’s teammates only speak Spanish.

How did you come to work with UZER?

We researched US and Latin American companies that offered Magento development. After validating several companies, UZER was the best option in Latin America. We chose them because most of our team is located in Colombia, so we prefer to have technical communication in Spanish. Their pricing was also more affordable than other companies we validated.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent around $30,000. We estimate the total cost will be about $51,000 when the project is completed.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

The UZER team has presented a proposal for a digital marketing strategy, including tactics to have better communication with the audience and SEO. However, we’re only engaged in the web development project at this point.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality of UZER’s work is great — we’re 100% satisfied with them. Our design teams in Europe and the US are happy with the final product. The team has exceeded our expectations in terms of the UX design. They give us a lot of feedback about the UX design, and when we bring new ideas to the table, they try to modulate with us to create the best solution for the project.

UZER has been a great partner to support our needs regarding the features we want to enable. We have a lot of enhancements we want to implement to guide the behavior of our B2B customers, which is our first focus. 

Although our team has a lot of experience in trade marketing, we’re only starting with the digital part, so we have a lot of opportunities to learn. UZER supports us in that process; they give us great advice about market standards and e-commerce trends.

Overall, we’re very happy with UZER. Although the second phase will be a challenge, we’re pleased with the results of phase one.

How did UZER perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a great performance in project management. We have a fixed contract with them, and we try to be flexible with the budget and schedule. 

UZER is on schedule most of the time unless we need additional time on our side. We have big seasons in our industry, and sometimes we have to pause the project for 3–4 weeks.

We have weekly meetings with UZER to fill out the schedule and use Monday.com as a project management tool. Our communication is through Microsoft Teams and sometimes Google Meet, their preferred platform. 

Most of our calls are conducted in English and are with the director, where we discuss project status, advances, and definitions. Sometimes we meet with the technical team, and those meetings are in Spanish. Whenever we need the participation of the technical team in a meeting conducted in English, UZER brings in the translator to transmit the ideas to our marketing teams in Europe or the US. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their UX proposal. The methodology they’ve used to create the UX design is very interesting. Design thinking was a good dynamic for our team; they liked the workshop UZER conducted.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need more English-speaking resources if they want to expand in the global market. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d recommend UZER for Latin American companies, for sure. You can also run a project in English and use their translator if you have difficulties with the language. Overall, I would recommend UZER to any company that needs an e-commerce platform or UX design services.
