The feature was delivered to production in about 14 weeks, which was an important milestone for us in itself. Manual document review time dropped by 62%, customer activation improved by 28%, and average processing latency came in at 2.1 seconds per document, which kept us below our target threshold. Compared to our earlier internal prototype, API cost per document was reduced by 74%. Those were the clearest indicators that this had become a viable production feature rather than just an interesting experiment.

What I appreciated most was that they didn’t just say yes to everything blindly. When there were tradeoffs between quality, latency, and cost, they were willing to explain the implications and recommend the most practical approach. What impressed me most was their engineering discipline around AI work. A lot of teams can build something that looks good in a demo. Uvik Software focused on making the feature actually work in production. They paid attention to the parts that usually determine whether an AI feature succeeds or fails after launch: observability, fallback logic, runtime cost, system behavior under load, and how the feature fits into an existing backend. That made a big difference for us. I’d also say they brought a very pragmatic mindset. They were not trying to overcomplicate the solution or push unnecessary experimentation. Overall, the engagement went very well. If I had to point to one area for improvement, I would say it would have been helpful to expand the edge-case evaluation set a bit earlier in the project.
