Uvik Software assigned two senior data engineers to work directly with our Shopify development and product teams. 

The first stage involved auditing our existing reporting processes, standalone scripts, data sources, and client-specific integrations. Based on this audit, the engineers designed a reusable data architecture that could support multiple Shopify stores without duplicating the entire pipeline for each project. 

They developed Python-based connectors for Shopify, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Klaviyo. The pipelines collected order, customer, product, inventory, refund, fulfillment, campaign, and website analytics data and loaded it into BigQuery. 

The team also created standardized dbt models for core e-commerce entities. This was particularly important because different stores used different currencies, time zones, product structures, discount rules, and refund workflows.

In addition, our deployment process became much faster, moving from biweekly releases to multiple deployments per day. Test coverage on the rebuilt backend reached 91%, and infrastructure cost per request declined by around 35%. These improvements gave us a more scalable and reliable platform for continued growth.

Silent failures, which had been an ongoing issue, were reduced from around 12 per month to fewer than 1. We also onboarded two additional upstream sources, adding about 2.4 TB of daily throughput, and reduced Snowflake compute costs by approximately 22%.

Beyond the numbers, the team gave us something we didn’t really have before: visibility into pipeline health and much more confidence in the data we were delivering to customers.
