A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of Community Connect Labs.
What challenge were you trying to address with UVIK Software?
We needed engineering talent with experience with Python and React. We use an open source platform called Prowl with RapidAPI. It’s an older version and we were updating to a newer version with a React frontend. We needed another developer who could focus on Python on the new platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We provided wireframes and had specifications, bug reports, and tickets. This developer shadowed our engineer for about a week before we started giving them their own tasks. They were able to get up and running very quickly.
What is the team composition?
I worked with a senior engineer and a project manager.
How did you come to work with UVIK Software?
I had a list of 20–30 Python developer, and I selected them from that list. We looked at several different vendors who provide consultants in Python and React. We went through a lot of different contractors and did an HR evaluation.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent over $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in February 2020 and our work in ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project is ongoing, and we measure success based on continuous delivery and being productive on a regular basis.
How did UVIK Software perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a team of engineers and have an ongoing project board in Asana, we use an agile process, and have everything ticketed and tracked in a system. So bringing on UVIK Software was very easy. We use Slack, Google Meet, and Asana to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have competent, quality engineers.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could always give me a lower price, but there isn’t really anything I think they need to improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Like any other partnership, communication is key.

“Their team requires very little oversight, which I really appreciate.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of VantagePoint, and we are a security consulting and product company based out of Austin, Texas. We provide a combination of security tools that allow our customers to get eyes on their entire environment, whether that’s hosted on-premise, in the cloud, or on containers.
What challenge were you trying to address with UVIK Software?
UVIK Software is providing software development services for our company. They present really strong python developers for a reasonable cost
What was the scope of their involvement?
They are developing an entire security platform that includes front- and backend services, integrations into cloud infrastructure, and cloud services. The platform enables our entire reporting infrastructure and a feature we call workspaces that allow large enterprises to enable different security measures for different segments of their business.
Their team has been able to provide expertise and development resources for all of that based on the technical documentation and UI/UX stories that we had in mind, starting by creating wireframes and then executing those.
What is the team composition?
We worked with about three members of their team, all of whom were senior development engineers.
How did you come to work with UVIK Software?
Another organization in our industry recommended them to us, and we had confidence in them and liked what we saw in our first interactions with UVIK Software, so we decided to give them a shot.
How much have you invested with them?
The total project has cost us around $200,000
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around August 2019 and are continuing to work together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Qualitatively, they have produced incredibly high-quality work so far. We have been completely satisfied with what they have delivered on that end. One big challenge you often face with engineers is the struggle for perfection at the expense of timelines, but that’s not something we have run into with UVIK Software at all.
How did UVIK Software perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team requires very little oversight, which I really appreciate. They’re really effective, productive, and make good assumptions, but they also have no problem asking questions when they need clarity. We use JIRA to keep track of all project milestones and have never had a problem with anything not being delivered on schedule.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The talent of their team is what stands out the most to me. When you’re developing software, the most important component is that you’re working with people who know what they’re doing and can get the job done.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Nothing comes to mind in terms of things they could do differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Stay actively engaged with their team by having frequent meetings to discuss everything that’s going on. As long as the full team is aligned on the schedule and deliverables, you will have a successful engagement with them.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and CEO of Drakontas LLC, a software company specializing in applications for public safety and emergency management markets.
What challenge were you trying to address with UVIK Software?
We initially hired UVIK Software to bolster our technical talent pool with backend developers. Later, we added frontend specialists to work on mobile development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Internal stakeholders explain their ideal product, and the team is responsible for technical implementation. So far, they’ve developed core features inside our product line, taking ownership of new capabilities that we’ve built on the mobile side. They work in a client-server infrastructure, with programmers working on our backend application server and Match Server technologies.
The team uses a Django Stack on Linux for backend development. On the frontend, developers add capabilities and feature sets to a React Native framework for both Android and iOS platforms.
What is the team composition?
We had seven points of contact at UVIK Software, including managers and developers.
How did you come to work with UVIK Software?
Paul (Managing Partner, UVIK Software) reached out to me on LinkedIn, and he introduced me to two of his backend developers. I was so impressed with the professionals that I ended up hiring them both.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $175,000 annually, so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2017, and it’s an ongoing project.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has been deployed in mission-critical environments. We've been extremely satisfied with the results of their work.
How did UVIK Software perform from a project management standpoint?
The team is completely self-sufficient, and I haven’t needed to dedicate anyone to oversee them. They’ve become a mirror team to my developers in the US.
We communicate via Slack and Skype, meeting at least once-per-day to go over progress reports. They’re extremely responsive to feature requests, always finding the right specialist to work on a project. They’re always available for collaboration, and they offer valuable suggestions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Disciplined and tenacious, the team has an excellent work ethic. Their ego never gets in the way of producing quality results. There has been no conflict whatsoever.
Are there any areas they could improve?
If anything, they could be more assertive about bringing forth project initiative ideas. They are excellent order takers, but I’d like to see more creative input. That would increase their value proposition even more.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Future clients should be direct when communicating concrete goals. The team will put immense effort toward fulfilling those requirements. They are valuable employees, and clients should treat them as such.

ERP Platform Dev for Web Development Agency
"We didn’t want to hire good developers but rather exceptional ones. UVIK Software are rock stars."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the CEO of an agency that does web development for organizations.
What challenge were you trying to address with UVIK Software?
We wanted to create an ERP system to keep track of our finances and invoicing, as well as to automate some of our business processes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We decided to go with Python Django when deciding how to build the backend of our platform. We hired UVIK Software to provide Python Django developers. It turns out that they also have frontend engineers, so we hired them to work in Angular 2 for the frontend. They’ll continue to provide support going forward because the ERP system needs constant development. There are additional features that we want to add in the future.
What is the team composition?
We've hired two backend Python Django engineers and one frontend Angular 2 engineer.
How did you come to work with UVIK Software?
A friend who used to work with UVIK Software referred them to me.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $80,000, but that number will continue to grow.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together a year and a half ago, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We're happy with their work. We've already cut some accounting expenses by using the ERP platform. The system has modules for finances, invoicing, and resource tracking. Automating those processes results in cutting costs. UVIK Software also created a cool dashboard so we can see the overall financial status of the organization. It's very important for me as a CEO to track all that information. Being able to see it online via the dashboard is so convenient.
How did UVIK Software perform from a project management standpoint?
UVIK Software is good at hitting deadlines, so the delivery is excellent. We're managing the project ourselves, but we’re in frequent communication with their developers. It’s important that the communication is smooth, and it’s really been perfect so far.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We didn’t want to hire good developers but rather exceptional ones. UVIK Software are rock stars. That's what differentiates them from other teams. We work in software development and see many good developers but few exceptional ones.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, it’s been great. We have a good feeling when we work with them. They have an internal program of resource development, so they're constantly growing and getting better.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I’d suggest them to anyone looking for rock star developers. They have the expertise and great communication.
UVIK Software continues to deliver excellent work and be productive. They followed the internal team’s process, worked agilely, and used Asana to ensure a smooth workflow.
