The quality of work delivered by UVIK Software has pleased all project stakeholders with the efficiency of delivery. Their team is highly creative and hard-working, staying on top of deadlines and taking time to understand their client’s core business requirements before building out final features.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of VantagePoint, and we are a security consulting and product company based out of Austin, Texas. We provide a combination of security tools that allow our customers to get eyes on their entire environment, whether that’s hosted on-premise, in the cloud, or on containers.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with UVIK Software?
UVIK Software is providing software development services for our company. They present really strong python developers for a reasonable cost
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They are developing an entire security platform that includes front- and backend services, integrations into cloud infrastructure, and cloud services. The platform enables our entire reporting infrastructure and a feature we call workspaces that allow large enterprises to enable different security measures for different segments of their business.
Their team has been able to provide expertise and development resources for all of that based on the technical documentation and UI/UX stories that we had in mind, starting by creating wireframes and then executing those.
What is the team composition?
We worked with about three members of their team, all of whom were senior development engineers.
How did you come to work with UVIK Software?
Another organization in our industry recommended them to us, and we had confidence in them and liked what we saw in our first interactions with UVIK Software, so we decided to give them a shot.
How much have you invested with them?
The total project has cost us around $200,000
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around August 2019 and are continuing to work together.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Qualitatively, they have produced incredibly high-quality work so far. We have been completely satisfied with what they have delivered on that end. One big challenge you often face with engineers is the struggle for perfection at the expense of timelines, but that’s not something we have run into with UVIK Software at all.
How did UVIK Software perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team requires very little oversight, which I really appreciate. They’re really effective, productive, and make good assumptions, but they also have no problem asking questions when they need clarity. We use JIRA to keep track of all project milestones and have never had a problem with anything not being delivered on schedule.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The talent of their team is what stands out the most to me. When you’re developing software, the most important component is that you’re working with people who know what they’re doing and can get the job done.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Nothing comes to mind in terms of things they could do differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Stay actively engaged with their team by having frequent meetings to discuss everything that’s going on. As long as the full team is aligned on the schedule and deliverables, you will have a successful engagement with them.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Before Uvik, every media buyer basically ran their own version of reporting — names didn't match, creatives had no stable ID, and the same number could look different depending on whose spreadsheet you opened.
They didn't start with a dashboard. First two weeks just went into figuring out how campaigns, creatives, GEOs, and funnel events should be identified across the board.
Then they built it out: connectors pulling in the data, Airflow running it on schedule, everything landing in a BigQuery warehouse, dbt cleaning and matching it, a FastAPI service linking creatives to performance, checks catching bad data automatically, and dashboards for spend, clicks, registrations, deposits, retention.
But honestly, the thing that fixed the most? A stable ID that followed each creative from production to launch. Small change, huge cleanup.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Weekly reporting now takes around two to three hours instead of most of a working day. Data is refreshed several times throughout the day, so the team no longer has to wait until the following morning to review campaign performance.
The share of advertising spend connected to a specific creative increased from roughly 63% to around 80%. We also reduced the number of duplicate and incorrectly named campaign records by approximately 30%.
The improvement was gradual rather than immediate, but the reporting process is now more consistent. Our team still checks the data manually, though it spends much less time combining spreadsheets and resolving differences between sources.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Uvik’s engineers worked directly with our operations and media-buying leads. We used Linear for the backlog, GitHub for technical work, and Telegram for quick operational questions. Every second week, they demonstrated a working part of the pipeline using current data rather than a separate demo dataset.
The project stayed within the agreed schedule. A connector for one external platform required more investigation because its API returned historical corrections differently from the documentation. Uvik isolated that source instead of delaying the rest of the pipeline and completed it in the following sprint.
Questions were usually answered the same day. More importantly, their engineers were comfortable speaking directly with nontechnical team members when they needed to understand how a metric was actually used.
What was your primary form of communication with Uvik Software?
Virtual Meeting
Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Instead of building attractive dashboards on top of unreliable campaign names, they created validation rules, a quarantine process for unmatched records, and a clear way for our team to correct problems without asking a developer.
One of their data engineers joined a reporting session with our media buyers and watched where people stopped trusting the numbers. That conversation led to several changes in the matching logic that we would not have captured in a normal technical ticket.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
The first dashboard contained too much technical detail for daily use. It was useful for the analysts but overwhelming for media buyers who mainly needed to know what had changed and where action was required. After two feedback sessions, Uvik Software split it into a simpler operational view and a more detailed analytical view.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
We brought in Uvik Software because our backend backlog kept growing while our own developers had to stay focused on new client features. A few issues had been sitting untouched for several sprints — slow API endpoints, background jobs that would occasionally fail on larger data loads.
Their engineers just joined our existing workflow and worked alongside our team, not around it. They went through the Python and Django codebase, looked at the PostgreSQL queries, dug into the logs, and helped us figure out what actually needed fixing first.
From there, they optimized the slow endpoints, tracked down what was causing the data-processing failures, cleaned up database queries, updated a few third-party integrations, and added tests around the backend flows that mattered most. They also stuck around for code reviews and the final release, not just the initial fixes. By the end, we had a noticeably more stable backend, faster APIs, far fewer failed jobs, and code our own developers could actually maintain going forward.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Within the first eight weeks, Uvik helped us close 28 high-priority backend tasks that had been carried over from previous sprints. One API endpoint that regularly took more than 3.5 seconds to respond was brought down to around 1.1 seconds without adding new infrastructure.
Failed background jobs decreased by roughly 60%, and the number of backend-related support tickets dropped by about a third during the following two months. Most importantly for us, the client release stayed on schedule while our internal developers continued working on the planned product features.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Uvik Software worked within the process we already had, so we did not need to create a separate management layer for them. Tasks were tracked in Jira, code was reviewed through GitHub, and most day-to-day questions were handled in Slack. We also had two short calls each week to review priorities and blockers.
They were reliable with deadlines and gave us useful updates rather than generic progress reports. When one legacy reporting task turned out to be larger than expected, they explained what they had found, revised the estimate, and helped us move another task forward while the investigation continued. It did not affect the release date.
What was your primary form of communication with Uvik Software?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What we appreciated most was that we could give them a problem in the state it actually existed. Sometimes there was a detailed Jira ticket, but other times we only had a log, a short developer note, or a message from the client saying that something felt slow. They did not send everything back asking for more documentation. They reviewed the code with us, asked the right questions, and got to work.
For example, we assumed one slow endpoint needed caching. Their engineer traced the issue to the same PostgreSQL queries being called several times during a single request. He changed the data-access logic and added a regression test, which solved the problem without introducing another system for us to maintain.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
There weren't any real problems. If we had to point to one thing, it'd be that estimates for tasks touching older parts of the codebase could've had a wider range from the start. One reporting module ended up taking longer than expected, once the team realized how much undocumented logic was buried in it. They were upfront about it right away and adjusted the plan without pushing back the release, so really it was more of an estimation hiccup than anything wrong with the actual work.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and position.
I am the SEO Specialist of a digital asset management company.
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
We provide a cloud-based Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform that helps teams centralize, organize, and share media assets seamlessly.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Uvik Software to accomplish?
We hired Uvik Software to strengthen the data engineering capacity behind our digital asset management platform. As our customers’ media libraries became larger, we needed to improve how our solution imports, processes, synchronizes, and indexes digital assets and their metadata from Google Drive and Amazon S3. Our main objectives were to: Reduce the time required to onboard large asset libraries. Minimize delays between changes in source storage and their appearance in our platform. Improve data consistency between customer storage, our metadata database, and the search index. Make synchronization pipelines more resilient to API limits, duplicate events, interrupted jobs, and inconsistent metadata. Support continued platform growth without proportionally increasing infrastructure costs or operational workload.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Uvik Software’s engineers worked on the data infrastructure responsible for processing and synchronizing digital assets and metadata from customers’ Google Drive folders and Amazon S3 buckets. They started by reviewing the existing ingestion and synchronization architecture, identifying performance bottlenecks, duplicate processing, insufficient retry logic, and situations where the source storage, metadata database, and search index could become temporarily inconsistent. The team then redesigned several important parts of the data flow. They introduced more efficient incremental synchronization so that the platform did not need to repeatedly scan entire customer libraries when only a small number of files had changed. Key deliverables included: A redesigned Python-based asset ingestion and metadata processing pipeline. Incremental synchronization for files, folders, metadata, permissions, asset versions, and custom fields. Queue-based processing for high-volume import and synchronization workloads. Idempotent processing to prevent duplicate assets and repeated metadata updates. Automated retry and dead-letter handling for failed processing jobs. Metadata normalization across images, videos, documents, EXIF data, custom fields, and storage providers. Reconciliation jobs that automatically detected and corrected differences between source storage, our records, and the search index. A new backfill tool for onboarding and reprocessing large customer libraries without affecting regular platform traffic. Search indexing improvements that allowed newly added or updated assets to become searchable significantly faster. Monitoring dashboards and alerts for processing delays, failed jobs, API quota usage, and data consistency issues. Documentation and operational playbooks for the internal engineering and support teams. The Uvik engineers also participated in code reviews, architecture discussions, production troubleshooting, and performance testing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
During the engagement, we achieved several measurable improvements: The average initial processing time for a large customer library decreased from approximately 11 hours to 2.5 hours. The median delay between a file change in Google Drive or Amazon S3 and the corresponding update in the solution decreased from approximately 18 minutes to under two minutes. Asset and metadata processing throughput increased by more than three times. Data inconsistencies identified during reconciliation decreased by approximately 92%. Duplicate asset and metadata records caused by repeated events were reduced by more than 90%. Search indexing delays during high-volume imports decreased by approximately 70%. Customer support requests related to delayed or incomplete synchronization decreased by 38%. Infrastructure cost per million processed assets decreased by approximately 21%. The most important result was that we could process considerably larger customer libraries while maintaining predictable synchronization times and without proportionally increasing infrastructure costs.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Uvik Software’s engineers integrated directly into our existing delivery process. We managed the work through our regular Jira board, Slack channels, Git repositories, sprint planning meetings, code reviews, and product demonstrations. They delivered the agreed milestones on time and communicated risks before those risks affected the schedule. For example, during performance testing, the team identified that Google Drive API quotas could become a bottleneck for several large concurrent migrations. They raised the issue early, proposed an adaptive throttling and prioritization approach, and implemented it without delaying the planned release. They were responsive when priorities changed and were also available during production incidents involving synchronization or data consistency. Their communication was clear, technical, and focused on resolving the underlying problem rather than applying temporary fixes.
What was your primary form of communication with Uvik Software?
Virtual Meeting
Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive aspect was their ability to design for real-world data failures rather than only for the expected processing path. Synchronizing data from external storage systems involves delayed notifications, API rate limits, missing metadata, duplicate events, interrupted imports, permission changes, and temporary inconsistencies. Uvik Software’s engineers understood these problems and built safeguards directly into the architecture. Their reconciliation framework was particularly valuable. Instead of relying only on event processing, they created an automated mechanism that could identify and repair inconsistencies between customer storage, our metadata layer, and the search index. That made the platform more reliable and significantly reduced the amount of manual investigation required from our engineering and support teams.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
Nothing to improve.

Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
We’re a boutique Shopify dev agency that partners with top-tier digital agencies and global eCommerce brands to deliver enterprise-level Shopify development and custom tech solutions – clean, scalable, and built to last.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Uvik Software to accomplish?
We hired Uvik Software to help us build a scalable data platform for Shopify projects managed by our agency. Our data was distributed across Shopify stores, custom Shopify apps, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Klaviyo. Preparing consolidated reports required too much manual work, and differences between data sources made it difficult to provide clients with consistent and timely insights. Our main objectives were to: Centralize commerce and marketing data in a single cloud data warehouse. Automate data collection and transformation. Reduce the time required to onboard new Shopify stores. Improve the accuracy and freshness of client reporting. Create a reusable data architecture that could support multiple client projects instead of building separate integrations for every store.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Uvik Software assigned two senior data engineers to work directly with our Shopify development and product teams.
The first stage involved auditing our existing reporting processes, standalone scripts, data sources, and client-specific integrations. Based on this audit, the engineers designed a reusable data architecture that could support multiple Shopify stores without duplicating the entire pipeline for each project.
They developed Python-based connectors for Shopify, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Klaviyo. The pipelines collected order, customer, product, inventory, refund, fulfillment, campaign, and website analytics data and loaded it into BigQuery.
The team also created standardized dbt models for core e-commerce entities. This was particularly important because different stores used different currencies, time zones, product structures, discount rules, and refund workflows.
Key deliverables included: A centralized BigQuery data warehouse. Reusable connectors for Shopify and marketing platforms. Automated pipeline orchestration and scheduling. Historical data backfills for existing stores. Standardized models for orders, customers, products, inventory, refunds, and marketing performance. Data marts prepared for client-facing dashboards. Automated validation and reconciliation rules. Monitoring and alerting for failed or delayed data loads. Technical documentation and onboarding instructions. A reusable process for adding new Shopify stores to the platform. The engineers also handled Shopify-specific data complexities such as partial refunds, multi-currency orders, edited orders, duplicate customer records, timezone differences, and API rate limits."
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project produced several measurable improvements:
Reporting data freshness improved from approximately 12–24 hours to under 60 minutes for the main data sources. The time required to connect and configure a new Shopify store decreased from three to five working days to less than four hours. Manual data preparation and reconciliation work decreased by approximately 80%, from around 30 hours per week to fewer than six. Pipeline success rates improved from approximately 93% to 99.8%. Unexplained revenue discrepancies in internal reports decreased from approximately 11% to below 2%. More than 25 Shopify stores and five external marketing and analytics platforms were connected to the new architecture. The time needed to prepare recurring client performance reports decreased by approximately 75%. The reusable pipeline framework allowed us to launch data reporting for new client projects without building every integration from scratch. The new architecture also made our reporting services more scalable. Our team could support more Shopify projects without increasing the amount of manual data work at the same rate.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Uvik Software’s engineers worked directly within our existing project management process.
We used Jira for task tracking, Slack for daily communication, and weekly planning and review meetings to manage priorities.
The work was divided into clear phases: architecture, initial integrations, warehouse and data modeling, historical backfills, monitoring, and rollout to additional stores.
The main platform was delivered within the agreed 12-week timeline. One historical backfill took several additional days because of Shopify API rate limits, but the engineers identified the issue early, communicated it clearly, and adjusted the implementation without affecting the overall rollout.
They were responsive when priorities changed or when we needed to add a new data source. More importantly, they did not simply follow tickets. They regularly identified data quality risks and suggested improvements before those issues affected client reporting.
What was your primary form of communication with Uvik Software?
Virtual Meeting

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive part was how quickly Uvik Software’s engineers understood the complexities of Shopify data.
They recognized that e-commerce reporting is not simply a matter of copying orders into a database. Refunds, partially fulfilled orders, edited orders, multi-currency transactions, discounts, time zones, and attribution differences all affect reporting accuracy.
They designed the platform around those realities instead of treating every integration as a basic API connector.
We were also impressed by the reusable architecture they created. Rather than developing separate scripts for every client, they built a configurable framework that allowed us to add new Shopify stores and data sources with much less engineering effort.
That approach delivered value beyond the initial scope of the project and gave us infrastructure we could continue using as the agency grew.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
The technical documentation could have been introduced earlier in the engagement. Everything else is perfetct!

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Uvik Software helped us improve the data engineering layer behind Teliqon Cloud, our cloud call center and communications platform. The project focused on making operational data more reliable, structured, and useful across several product areas: call routing, queue performance, agent activity, SMS campaigns, CRM integrations, and customer-facing analytics. The scope included the following key deliverables: Data pipeline development Uvik Software built and improved Python-based pipelines for collecting and processing call logs, SMS events, queue data, CRM activity, and agent performance metrics. Call center analytics data model They helped structure the data needed for reporting on call volume, missed calls, average wait time, queue performance, response time, agent productivity, and campaign activity. Reporting and dashboard support Their engineers prepared clean and consistent datasets for internal dashboards and customer-facing analytics, helping our team move away from fragmented reporting. Data quality and validation checks They implemented checks to identify missing events, duplicated records, delayed updates, and inconsistencies between source systems. Pipeline monitoring and alerting Uvik Software added monitoring around critical data workflows so our team could detect failed or delayed pipelines before they affected reporting. Performance optimization They optimized several heavy reporting queries and improved the way historical call and SMS data was aggregated. Documentation and handover The team documented pipeline logic, data definitions, and operational processes so our internal engineers could maintain and extend the system. Overall, Uvik Software helped us turn raw operational data into a more reliable analytics foundation for a cloud communications product.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project produced clear improvements in our data reliability, reporting speed, and operational visibility. Key measurable outcomes included: Data pipeline reliability improved from approximately 92% to 99.4%. Average reporting data delay decreased from around 6 hours to under 40 minutes for core operational dashboards. Manual reporting and reconciliation work decreased by about 60%. Critical data incidents related to missing or delayed call/SMS events dropped from 8–10 per month to fewer than 2 per month. Several heavy reporting queries became 35–45% faster after optimization. Our team gained visibility into pipeline health through monitoring and alerting that did not exist before. Product and operations teams could analyze call volume, queue performance, SMS activity, and agent metrics with much higher confidence. The biggest business result was that our reporting became more trustworthy and much closer to real time, which is essential for a call center platform.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Their project management was very smooth. Uvik Software’s engineers worked inside our existing process, which made collaboration easy. They joined our regular planning, communication, and review flow. Tasks were tracked transparently, priorities were discussed directly with our team, and deliverables were released in clear iterations. They delivered the main items on time and communicated early whenever a data dependency or integration issue required clarification. Their response time was strong, and they were proactive in raising risks around data quality, source-system inconsistencies, and reporting edge cases. What we appreciated most was that they did not need heavy supervision. Once priorities were clear, they owned the work end to end and kept our team updated.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive part was how quickly their engineers understood the operational complexity of a cloud call center platform. This was not a simple analytics project. The data came from multiple workflows: calls, queues, agents, SMS, CRM activity, integrations, and customer reporting. Uvik Software’s engineers were able to work with that complexity and still keep the solution practical. They were also very strong at thinking beyond individual tickets. Instead of only building pipelines, they improved monitoring, validation, data definitions, and long-term maintainability. That made the engagement more valuable than a typical staff augmentation project. They felt like senior internal engineers who cared about the quality of the product, not just the completion of assigned tasks.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
For future projects, I would suggest starting with a short data glossary workshop at the beginning of the engagement.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Uvik Software provided two senior data engineers who joined our internal data team and worked directly in our Jira, GitHub, Slack, and code review process. The project started with an audit of our existing data pipelines and warehouse structure. We had a number of legacy Python and SQL jobs that were difficult to maintain, poorly monitored, and too dependent on manual checks from our finance and operations teams. Uvik Software’s engineers helped us redesign and rebuild several critical parts of the platform. They refactored Python-based ETL jobs, improved Airflow DAG structure, introduced stronger data validation logic, and helped move more business logic into dbt models so that transformations became easier to test, review, and maintain. Key deliverables included: Refactoring 70+ legacy ETL jobs Building new Airflow DAGs for payment, transaction, merchant, and reconciliation data Creating dbt models for core finance and operations reporting Optimizing Redshift tables, queries, and materialized views Implementing automated data quality checks Building monitoring and alerting for failed or delayed pipelines Reducing manual reconciliation work through automated matching logic Improving data availability for BI dashboards used by finance, operations, and account management teams They also documented the new pipeline structure and helped our internal team adopt clearer standards for naming, testing, deployment, and ownership of data models.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project produced measurable improvements across reliability, speed, and operational efficiency. Over the course of the engagement: Data pipeline success rate improved from 94.1% to 99.3%. Monthly pipeline failures decreased from around 18 per month to 3 or fewer. Daily finance reporting time was reduced from approximately 11 hours to 75 minutes. Manual reconciliation work decreased from 35–40 hours per week to fewer than 8 hours. Core dashboard load times improved from 40–50 seconds to under 10 seconds. New data source onboarding time decreased from 2–3 weeks to around 4–5 days. More than 70 legacy ETL jobs were refactored or replaced. The team gained automated visibility into pipeline delays, failed jobs, and data quality issues. The biggest business impact was that our finance and operations teams no longer had to wait almost a full day for reliable reporting. They could access fresher and more accurate data with far less manual work.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Uvik Software’s engineers worked as part of our internal data team, so project management was very smooth. They joined our sprint planning, daily communication, backlog grooming, and code review process. Most deliverables were completed on time, and when a task required more investigation, they communicated the reason clearly and early. We especially appreciated that they did not just complete assigned tickets mechanically. If they saw a better technical approach or noticed a risk in an existing pipeline, they raised it proactively. Their response time was strong, and they were reliable during production issues. When we had pipeline failures or data delays, they helped troubleshoot quickly and usually came back with both a short-term fix and a longer-term prevention plan.
What was your primary form of communication with Uvik Software?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive part was how quickly their engineers became productive in a complex data environment. They were not limited to one narrow area. They could work across Python pipelines, Airflow orchestration, SQL optimization, dbt models, AWS infrastructure, and data quality checks. That combination was very valuable for us because our problems were not isolated to one tool. They also brought senior-level ownership. Instead of only asking for exact requirements, they helped define better pipeline standards, improve monitoring, and reduce hidden operational risks in our data platform.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
Their technical work is strong from the beginning, but we initially had slightly different expectations around how detailed pipeline documentation should be. After we aligned on the format, everything became consistent and easy for our internal team to maintain.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Uvik Software was brought in to rebuild and optimize the backend for our high-throughput API product. The engagement focused on improving scalability, response times, uptime, deployment speed, and long-term maintainability.
Their team reviewed the limitations of our existing implementation and redesigned the service around better async patterns and more scalable backend practices. They optimized database access, introduced Redis caching, improved connection management, and strengthened the deployment setup in AWS ECS. They also added a more robust observability layer so the platform team could monitor performance and diagnose issues more effectively in production.
Key deliverables included:
redesigned FastAPI backend architecture;
performance optimization across the API and database layers;
Redis caching and connection pooling implementation;
improved AWS ECS deployment setup;
observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and structured logging;
better automated test coverage and code quality practices;
support for production rollout and scaling.
Overall, the scope covered both technical modernization and practical performance engineering to make the API ready for the next stage of customer growth.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project delivered clear performance and operational improvements. API throughput increased from about 3,000 requests per second to 15,000 requests per second, while p95 latency dropped from 380 ms to 42 ms. Since launch, uptime has remained at 99.97%.
In addition, our deployment process became much faster, moving from biweekly releases to multiple deployments per day. Test coverage on the rebuilt backend reached 91%, and infrastructure cost per request declined by around 35%. These improvements gave us a more scalable and reliable platform for continued growth.
Important: replace these metrics with the client’s real numbers if needed.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Their project management was strong throughout the engagement. They were organized, responsive, and easy to work with, and they integrated well with our internal platform team. Deliverables were generally completed on time, and communication was consistent and clear.
They were proactive in surfacing risks, discussing tradeoffs, and adjusting priorities when needed. What I appreciated most was that they did not just execute tickets mechanically — they understood the business importance of performance and reliability and responded accordingly. Overall, they were dependable and collaborative partners.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive thing was their level of performance engineering discipline. They did not stop at making the API functional — they looked at the system end to end and optimized it at every meaningful layer, from async patterns and database access to caching, observability, and deployment.
That combination of FastAPI-specific expertise and practical production thinking is rare. Many teams can build backend features, but fewer can materially improve throughput, latency, uptime, and cost efficiency at the same time. Uvik Software stood out because they could do both.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
I would say that their initial API documentation style was a bit different from our internal format. That said, they adapted quickly once we aligned on expectations, and it did not have any meaningful impact on delivery or outcomes.

I am the Operations manager of an other industries company
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
Ours is one of the leading agencies specialising in e-commerce development.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Uvik Software to accomplish?
We hired Uvik Software to help us modernize a legacy Python/Django platform that had become a growing technical and operational risk for the business. Our core objective was to move from Python 2.7 / Django 1.11 to a current, supported stack without disrupting a live production system. Just upgrading versions was not enough for us. We also wanted to improve test coverage, reduce release risk, resolve long-standing dependency and security issues, and leave the platform in a state where our internal team could move faster going forward.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
The project focused on modernizing a live production platform that had been running on Python 2.7 and Django 1.11 for several years. Because the platform was business-critical, a full rewrite was not a realistic option, so the work was done incrementally.
Uvik Software first helped stabilize the legacy codebase by increasing automated test coverage around the most sensitive areas. From there, they migrated the system module by module. Their typical flow was to add or strengthen tests, refactor older code for compatibility, upgrade the module to the newer Python/Django stack, and then validate it in staging before release.
They also used the migration window to clean up outdated dependencies, remediate security issues, and improve the general maintainability of the codebase.
Key deliverables included:
migration from Python 2.7 / Django 1.11 to Python 3.11 / Django 4.2 expanded automated test coverage across core modules incremental rollout of migrated components without downtime dependency and security remediation improved release readiness and documentation for the internal team
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The biggest result was that the platform was successfully migrated from Python 2.7 / Django 1.11 to Python 3.11 / Django 4.2 without downtime or migration-related production incidents.
Beyond that, we saw meaningful quality and delivery improvements:
test coverage increased from 23% to 84% release cadence improved from monthly to weekly internal deployment confidence improved from 3.1/10 to 8.4/10 new engineer onboarding time dropped from about 6 weeks to 2 weeks 3 critical security vulnerabilities were resolved during the modernization effort
For us, the value was not just that the migration was completed, but that the platform became much safer and easier to work with afterward.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Their project management was structured, clear, and low-drama. They tracked progress at the module level, surfaced risks early, and kept communication focused on what actually mattered: what had been completed, what was blocked, what could affect release safety, and what decisions needed input from our side.
Yes, they delivered on time for the milestones we agreed on, and when priorities shifted, they adapted quickly. I also appreciated that they did not hide complexity. If something was likely to create migration risk, they raised it early and came with options instead of surprises.
They worked well with our internal team and were responsive throughout the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What impressed me most was their discipline around modernization in a live environment. A lot of teams can talk about upgrading a stack, but fewer can do it carefully without treating production stability as an afterthought.
Uvik Software was strong technically, but what made them especially valuable was judgment. They did not push a flashy rewrite. They took a more mature approach: reduce risk, improve testability, modernize incrementally, and make sure our team understood the system as it evolved.
That combination of senior engineering depth and practical execution was the biggest differentiator for us.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Uvik Software could have done differently?
Overall, the engagement went very well. If I had to point to one area for improvement, I would say that some of the early migration decisions could have been documented more thoroughly at the start of the project.
That said, once we raised it, they responded well and improved the documentation standard in the following phases. So it was a relatively minor issue, and they handled the feedback professionally.
