• Digital design of circuit boards matching physical dimensions and feature requirements. 
• Produce physical prototype circuit boards for their own internal testing and for our internal testing. 
• Produce prototype firmware for circuit board that includes integration details for external computer intercommunication. 
• Lead product of final physical circuit board and produce final version of firmware. 

Work is ongoing because we have been increasing the scope of circuit board features and have new circuit boards being produced for different purposes within the same product family.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Project time from start to finish within each project defined has been faster than expected. Project cost is always below expectation because of their speed of work completion. They get more done with in a set number of hours than we have ever experienced with anyone else.

They always deliver on time. Without asking, they work whatever hours within 24 hours are needed to get the work done. They are extremely good at collecting clarifying details for work requirements. They rarely work without feeling confident in what the final needs to "look" like.

Never an excuse, always organized, everyone is highly competent at their work. Zero language barriers.

Are there any areas for improvement or something UnioTech could have done differently?

Sorry, but I do not have anything to ask to improve on. If they were to expand their technology development offerings that would outsource more to them immediately.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

The scope was the development of low-power battery-operated electronic sensors for the agricultural industry. The development was ARM processor-based with custom BLE communication, GPS, sensors, and data loggers. The project deliverables were: 

1. Electronic sensors built to spec
2. Cell phone-based control application 
3. Main terminal based on RBP4 for information gathering
4. Satellite communication interface for iridium and other constellations
5. Periodical software (SW) modifications and capability expansions

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. Operational electronic HW manufactured in production volume (>1000 Units). 
2. Communication demonstrated in the field for high ranges and fair fidelity. 
3. Short time for SW bug analysis and fix (typically less than 3 days). 
4. Released stable HW and SW versions including documentation.
5. Our client receives direct and professional service from the Vendor with satisfaction.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The project team comprises a project manager and at least 1 more content expert in every session. There are regular weekly meetings to plan the operations needed (IPT). For highly technical issues, the CTO and additional team members are usually in a very short time (<2 days). The vendor prefers to receive end-to-end objectives, but in our experience, if needed, he is a good team player in addition to the ability to suggest alternatives where mistakes are possible. 

During our project, there was a war situation, and it had a negligible effect on the performance. The vendor took his delivery dates seriously. Most of the deliverables are on time, if not, the vendor issues a timely warning and shows flexibility and dedication to find a solution. When we asked for an off-schedule meeting, it was arranged within 2 days in most cases.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

1. The company is versatile with understanding in many fields. 
2. Engineers are capable and humble (will say if they do not know something). 
3. The team was capable of a very steep learning curve and assisted as part of a client team.
4. High mortality and business practices, we trust them to talk directly with our clients.

Are there any areas for improvement or something UnioTech could have done differently?

1. There are some limitations with high complexity PCB layout, but the layout team is getting better. 
2. End-to-end tasks must be defined very accurately and are a preferred mode of operation for the company. When working as a part of an existing team or a modification of an existing application, the task may prove painful due to different methodologies. 
3. Code turnover is fast but not always efficient. The company can work fast, but it comes with the cost of growing disorder until time can be set aside to make some orders. The company will suggest it, but if the client does not agree, the company will continue limping and will not be pressured to fix the issues.
4. SW testing is not the best quality when fast turnover is needed. The company has very lax QA in the prototyping stages and will require a long time to get to the production level.
