Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-creator, producer and host of a podcast centered around mental health in a context of Christian living.

For what projects/services did your company hire Tielemans Design, and what were your goals?

Our previous logo did not professionally communicate the message we were trying to portray to our audience. Upon the recommendation of a reputable professional we invited Anton of Tielmans Design to create a logo that best captured the tone of our podcast.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

After using a mom and pop shop to design our first logo, and after consulting with several other designers, we selected Tielmans Design for their professional approach, their previous work, and their expressed interest in the value of our message.

Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.

Anton paid me a house call on a Tuesday evening to accommodate my complicated schedule. He then spent approximately 45 minutes asking questions about the project and about my personal motivation for such a message. He also analyzed our previous logo, taking notes on the aspects that I liked and disliked about it. By Friday, Anton had contacted me 3 more times. He reported that he had listened to several episodes of the podcast, expressed a personal connection to one in particular, and asked several more questions to get a better grasp of what might suit our family and our message.

Over the next week he created several general rough ideas to give us options to choose from in guiding the project forward. Anton offered his professional take on what each idea best conveyed in relation to our message. We also discussed several tagline options. Anton was excellent in helping to create and refine a precise tagline that matched our message. One of the most appreciated moments occurred during the creation of the title’s font/script. A message dealing with mental health often struggles to find a proper balance between appreciation for life’s hope AND despair. To best relate to those who better understand despair, I envisioned a font format that was gritty. However, Anton pointed out that because we had already selected a markedly distressed image for the logo’s background, a gritty font might overwhelm the majority of a potential audience.

While acknowledging that it was my logo and that final design approval was in my hands, he professionally recommended we use a font that was clean and simple - with just a touch of distress to the lettering. I actually told Anton that his candor was refreshing. Because of the topic matter of the podcast, many who I ask for feedback fear to offer any constructive criticism. As a result, the podcast suffers from lack of information for improvement.

Anton’s opinion was not only professional, but was ultimately most productive for the project itself. As an artist who understands his craft and values the importance of our message, he offered what best served the podcast - not what best appeased the podcaster.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Though the logo has only been posted for a few days, I’ve already received several unprompted comments on the professional appeal of our new image.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Anton communicated quickly and precisely throughout the project. The best contact format for me was email. Yet despite the conventional response delay of email compared to other means of communication, I would often find that Anton had responded after only a few minutes had passed after extending a question to him. He also took the initiative to inform me when he was going out of town, the timeframe he likely would be out of contact, and when to anticipate his return and continuation of the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their level of care for the spirit of the project was impressive. Also, Anton’s excellent communication can’t be denied as well as the quality of the finished product.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None to speak of.

I’m the president and CEO of Zion National Park Forever Project.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tielemans Design?

We hired them to do a couple of different book designs for us and a logo design for our 100th anniversary.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tielemans Design provided us with graphic design services for our 100th-anniversary logo and two books. First, we shared what we were trying to achieve, and they took that information and created the design. 

For the logo, we asked for a design that would tell our story. They presented several proposals, then we worked together to narrow down the design to an option everyone agreed on. As for the books, the illustrations and text were already finished. We provided those raw materials to Tielemans Design, and they took those elements and created the final designs. 

What is the team composition?

We worked exclusively with Anton (Principal). 

How did you come to work with Tielemans Design?

Anton and I worked together at a magazine 30 years ago; I was the editor, and he was a designer. We’ve been working with Tielemans Design since, so I come to them when I have a project. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent under $10,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2019–April 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were fully satisfied with Tielemans Design’s work; the end product and the process of working with them were excellent. They created wonderful designs, and each of them has been successful. 

How did Tielemans Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Anton was excellent on all project management levels. He always communicated well in a timely manner and also executed things on time. Since he was in Las Vegas and we were in Utah, we communicated via phone calls, Zoom, or Google Meet. We also met in person when he traveled to see us. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tielemans Design was very creative and sensitive to our desires. Anton excelled at translating what we envisioned into a design with integrity that worked on all levels. Moreover, he was very open and communicated well with us, and he could also work through clear steps to bring the project to the final product. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing they need to improve; they accomplish a lot of great work with a small staff.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You just have to call them and tell them about your project. Tielemans Design will be very open about what they can do for you and how much it’ll cost. Having a successful engagement is just a matter of talking to them, and they can make a proposal for you.

I am the CEO of the Huntsman World Senior Games, the largest annual multi-sport event in the world for athletes over the age of 50.

Tielmans approached us with idea that it might be time for an update to the logo.

Tielmans was very responsive in capturing what our logo needed to signify for our organization. He send multiple designs and reworkings until we were happy with the final result.

We were very happy with the end result. Our clients have also had a very positive response.

Their confidence and professionalism were exceptional. They guided us through the whole design and launch process.
