I am the Head of Product for a recruitment media company. We run a series of websites for the early careers market in the UK.

For what projects/services did your company hire Terenbro, and what were your goals?

We wanted to overhaul the courses and law schools section of our website for aspiring lawyers. We did not have sufficient dev resources in-house to complete this project on time, so we outsourced it to Terenbro.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We posted the project on Upwork and reviewed a series of proposals from different agencies and contractors. We selected Terenbro based on their skills and expertise in Java (Spring) development. We also liked that they were a small agency, which we could build an ongoing relationship with.

We developed a technical scope for the project. We then had a meeting with the Terenbro team to discuss the finer details of the requirements before working on the back end development of a new CMS which was written in Java (Spring) and Angular.

All design and front end work was done in-house, but once the back end stage was complete and tested, Terenbro integrated the front end templates, ready for release.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The user experience of the courses section of the website has significantly improved. We are now generating more direct leads for our clients and our SEO performance has improved.

Communication from Terenbro was great! They are all in fluent in English and incredibly responsive. We had regular meetings to check in on progress and we were in regular communication via Slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were professional, efficient, responsive, and great communicators!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I can't think of any areas where Terenbro could improve. We had a great experience working with them and are already working together on our next project!

What challenge were you trying to address with Terenbro?

We wanted a new website. We had a previous development team that couldn’t handle the tasks in totality, so I brought in Terenbro to take us to the finish line.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I initially hired Terenbro to fix a security bug on our website. I gave Igor (CEO) the rundown of what I needed and he added me to their Slack channel to meet the team of developers. He set up Jira and Bitbucket accounts and offered us free QA, which was a big thing as it takes some knowledge to do it properly.

Additionally, they helped on the design side, but it was more focused on fixing the UI/UX. Right now, they’re finishing up some tasks before they migrate our website from Magento 1 to Magento 2.

What is the team composition?

I speak to Igor, I work with the developers, and I work with the QA. I communicate with everyone on a regular basis, which is personally a good thing for me, because it minimizes miscommunications and assumptions.

How did you come to work with Terenbro?

I found them through Upwork when I was looking for an expert in Magento. I found that they had a great portfolio and business profile, so I spoke to Igor. He was extremely communicative and good at determining the amount of hours it would take to complete the project — which is a big bridge to cross when it comes to development.

We’ve probably spent around $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing partnership started in February 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Without Terenbro, we wouldn’t really be here at all — we would probably still be struggling with minor issues. They’re able to take major tasks and complete them with ease, and they’ve been a big part of why we’ve reached this point.

Moreover, they’re very professional, they’re always available, and they answer right away. When it comes to Magento and the web development space, they definitely produce top-notch results.

How did Terenbro perform from a project management standpoint?

It’s been a pleasure working with them so far, as they’re very professional in terms of communication and the work they do in general — they’re all on the same page which is very helpful for me. They clearly outline all of the tasks in Jira so I can open it up and see what they’re currently working on.

There are no weak links in their development team and everyone is equally good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their ability to communicate clear requirements with very minimal information, as well as their ability to organize and follow up on things. We also like their price point and their understanding of the development landscape. They’ve worked with different clients from all corners of the world, so they have a great understanding of where’s someone coming from and where they want to go.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, there’s nothing they could improve on. They’ve always come up and met the bar of expectation.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would say that if you communicate well with them, you’re going to make their job easier not because they’re incapable of delivering, but because you’ll save a few steps in the process. Be as communicative as you can and you’ll get the most out of your money.

What challenge were you trying to address with Terenbro?

I wanted to migrate my online store from the Magento 1 platform to Magento 2 and have ongoing maintenance.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Terenbro has migrated all my data from my Magento 1 store to the Magento 2 platform. They’ve set up and prepared servers, migrated customer, products, and order history, set up payment and shipping methods, integrated third party plug ins, and thoroughly tested the store on multiple devices. 

Terenbro has provided consulting services as well. They made recommendations and helped me to pick and approve a template that fits all my criteria. That’s probably one of the hardest parts of the project. Once the template was chosen, Terenbro implemented it,  and made sure it worked quickly and well across all devices in order to receive orders.

I’ve worked with a project manager and two software developers.

I do all my hiring through Upwork, which is a hiring website where you can read a company's portfolio and reviews from customers. I was looking for a firm with a reputation for project completion, so I read the feedback from people starting with negative reviews — I read between the lines. I decided to hire Terenbro because of their great feedback.

I’ve spent around $10,000–$12,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with Terenbro in January 2021.  The new website was launched in April 2021 and now Terenbro does updates and maintenance on the new site.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The deliverable looks great, and it’s very usable and visually appealing. The website is working correctly and processing orders as intended. It also works fast for a Magento store, which has been a big deal because it’s a resource-heavy program. The customer response has been very positive.

How did Terenbro perform from a project management standpoint?

Terenbro laid out the expectations for the project. They worked in a timely manner and stayed within my budget. Anything that I’ve asked of them, they’ve done. Terenbro is very easy to work with, and they’re dedicated to what they’re doing.

We communicate strictly through Slack. Every single time I’ve reached out to Terenbro to communicate, they get back to me and get the work done right away. I’ve never been left hanging for anything or wondered what was going on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Terenbro has very nice people. I was anxious about the process.  They explained anything I didn't understand. They’ve always been calm and made me feel that everything will be fine. They followed through in the expected timeframe and they always had solutions that were at or above expectations.  I consider Terenbro as a partner of my company rather than a contractor. I feel that they are going to take care of my business — I can trust them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything that Terenbro could improve. They’ve done a great job.

Any advice for potential customers?

Do your part of the job or whatever you need to do, but stay involved in the project so they don't have to work harder than they need to, because they will. The Terenbro team is very nice. Even when I haven’t been in my project because I’ve had other things to do, Terenbro has always been right there for me when I'm ready.  They make me feel like a valued customer.  I highly recommend them.

There was a miscommunication initially, which meant that the website build was providing too much value and a higher cost. This was fixed, and Terenbro made changes at their cost. They were extremely prompt, easy to deal with, and worked according to our time zone.
