I’m the co-founder and product manager of a marketing automation platform. Connected to third-party apps, our platform is easy to use and allows users to drag and drop visuals for lead generation, email, estimates, and retargeting ads on Facebook and Google.

What challenge were you trying to address with TeaCode.io?

We wanted to integrate our software with additional third-party apps. Our internal team is focused on scaling growth, so we needed to bring in another team to work on time-consuming APIs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I provided wireframes and specifications, but they conducted the research to ensure my vision for the APIs were possible. They then implemented everything, going back and forth with us, to make sure it worked nicely. They also found opportunities to add additional features that would improve UX.

After the success of that project, we started working on another integration project and began building out a core feature on our platform.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

These integrations are used a large scale and they’ve performed really well in production. We haven’t had any major problems. The product meets customer expectations and people have been satisfied with the UX. We halted our third project with them because of an internal business decision, but would be very excited to work with TeaCode.io again in the future.

Their team definitely became a part of our planning because they found creative solutions before we even realized there could be a problem. They don’t sit around waiting for instructions, they’re always pushing ahead.

They’re incredibly well organized and transparent with their workflow. Working in an agile method, they planned proactively before meeting with me every week to review what needed to be accomplished in each sprint.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their problem-solving capabilities are very impressive. There's a big difference between developers that wait to be told what to do versus those who will create a solution and build it. TeaCode.io helped us discover even better solutions than what we would propose. Their solutions were creative, simple, and helped us get to the end result faster.

I’m the tech lead for Daydream Education. We’re developing apps to accompany books with interactive features such as digital assessments.

What challenge were you trying to address with TeaCode.io?

Our backend required a complete redesign because we were growing. We handle frontend code in-house but needed a partner to develop a server backend for the digital books on our app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TeaCode.io created a server that can handle user management and content distribution for our apps. Their team recreated the backend logic to completely overhaul our existing platform. Running ExpressJS, they developed a NodeJS server, which was all built out of a MongoDB database. Their team set-up server clusters for load balancing, too.

What is the team composition?

We mainly communicated with the company’s two founders, but we’ve been doing more work with other teammates.

How did you come to work with TeaCode.io?

A couple of years back, we contacted many development companies, which were all huge. We were drawn to TeaCode.io’s smaller size. Their team was willing to work with us for less than a month, unlike the larger firms. We ended up working with them for three months on the server backend.

We began collaborating in November 2017, and they’re doing another project for us now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The number of app users has increased significantly since beginning our collaboration with TeaCode.io. Their team created a stable server with sound logic. Before our engagement, the platform would go down quite a bit. Now, the only time our product goes down is when the hosting people have problems. TeaCode.io improved our reliability, security, and speed.

How did TeaCode.io perform from a project management standpoint?

Like most development companies, TeaCode.io works in sprints. We give them a bunch of tasks, which they’ll schedule and complete by the end of the next sprint. Their team uses Trello and Slack for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It sounds weird, but they don’t just do exactly what you tell them to do; their team thinks about the problem, too. TeaCode.io shares their expertise to guide the project in the right direction. Rather than making features exactly as requested, their team gives recommendations for building them out, which is really helpful; sometimes you need expert help with problems. We’ve developed a really good relationship.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re growing, so they have a larger workload. We were giving them projects as they were cropping up, but their team needed more time to plan. After they asked, we began giving them tasks earlier. TeaCode.io has really good communication, so any challenges have been resolved along the way.

They’re very professional. I specified different tasks and a senior developer or project lead took over the project, then handed it to a more junior developer. Communication was very easy as we used Slack. I was in daily contact with them, while my customer in Germany.

They helped me choose the right technology stack and kept very up-to-date with project management tools. I was so impressed that I now use these tools in my other projects also.

I’m a dietician and the founder of SimplifiedBody. We’re a SaaS company that licenses a nutrition system to personal trainers in the UK. Our software helps people manage and plan their food intake, access recipes, and track their progress.

What challenge were you trying to address with TeaCode.io?

I’d created a site myself in WordPress, but I’m not very tech-savvy and it grew too complex to manage as business took off. I reached the point where I needed my own platform and my own technology in order to make things scalable. I hired TeaCode.io to take over the app development after several other options didn’t work out.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They wrote a full stack JavaScript app using the Meteor framework. On a technical level, it’s built with a multi-tenancy architecture so that many clients and users can be on the platform at the same time. This was a huge improvement for me, as I’d previously been juggling multiple WordPress domains in order to get the same effect, and previous developers had said it wasn’t possible.

In terms of the development, I was simply looking for an MVP, but we’re now about to launch version three or four. When I first approached them, I wanted them to replicate a recipe-management feature that I’d had as a WordPress plugin. This required building out a recipe database as well as a meal-planning feature. On top of that, I had a list of features that were desired but not essential, like the ability for users to track different body metrics or upload photos to monitor their progress.TeaCode.io managed to incorporate all of them into the first version of the app.

I think it was about three people. We had a main point of contact, plus front- and backend developers.

How did you come to work with TeaCode.io?

I’d initially hired multiple other companies and was let down, so I began doing some research on the various technologies and coding languages. I realized that building the app in JavaScript was probably the best idea, so I searched for companies with that specialty and that’s how I found TeaCode. They impressed me with the level of thought they put into my project even before our initial meeting, and they also quoted a fair price.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t think my business would exist without the software they built. Even though I bring the nutrition expertise, I couldn’t facilitate it properly without the app. This has given me a lot of flexibility with how I manage the business.

On top of that, I’ll get feedback from fitness clients who’ve used the app with their trainers, and they frequently say that this app is easier to use than any others they’ve tried. People report that they manage to build consistent, healthier habits, and some of that is due to the app’s structure and how well it’s incorporated my dietician’s knowledge into the user experience.

How did TeaCode.io perform from a project management standpoint?

They communicated really well. The team is based in Poland, but their English is excellent and they’re far more responsive than other developers I’d hired in the past. If I message them, I’ll usually get a response within 20 minutes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

After so many false starts, I was definitely impressed by their level of communication. Their team is also highly versatile. They’ve got great front- and backend developers, plus experts on machine-learning and other kinds of algorithms. It makes me feel confident that they have the expertise to deliver any kind of app or feature I may want in the future.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This isn’t unique to them, but I think developers, in general, aren’t great at predicting how quickly something will be ready. Some of that’s down to the difficulty of executing a feature or a product, but it would be nice to have a more accurate sense of how long things take.

No, I can’t think of anything else to suggest right now.

What challenge were you trying to address with TeaCode.io?

I was looking for a vendor to develop my application. I was working with a different company, but I wasn't satisfied, so I started looking for a new vendor.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TeaCode developed my app from scratch. It's a native app, so it's compatible with both iOS and Android. People are not always looking to download an app, so we consolidated different location-based applications in one place. We also wanted to have a good UX. The app lets users see where their friends are and what events are nearby. TeaCode used JavaScript for development, and they integrated the app with third-party APIs, such as Google Maps.

We worked with one of their founders, who was our project manager.

I was looking for an offshore provider and I came across TeaCode. They seemed very knowledgeable and their rates were affordable, so I chose them.
