We started our lab as a response after pivoting from owning a brewing in Colorado to supporting an industry that needs outsourced lab services. Soon, we were helping many of our industry colleagues, using our lab to help them work out issues that were plaguing their batches. Next thing we knew, we were servicing clients all over the US. 

As our lab grew, we hired Bruno and his team to help us update how we were speaking to our prospective customers and partners. The team helped us update our company’s identity, articulate our positioning, including with externalized key messaging, and outline strategies for growth and recruitment, as it relates to brand.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Especially since our work with the Taillight team, we have experienced extremely fast growth, which has included major labs and other partners engaging us. I don’t think our success would have been impactful or far-reaching without this work.

Having known one of the founders, Bruno, for many years, he personally led our entire effort from beginning to end, and was always available to help, even if that meant jumping on a call (or, in at least a couple of cases, meeting us at a brewery!) at the last minute.

Our firm, which started with just the two founding partners, experienced incredible growth over the last few years. As we brought on additional staff, and added locations throughout New York, we needed to create a new visual identity for the firm that would help unify all the offices and employees under a single banner. 

In order to achieve that, we had to rethink everything about how we were seen. That included a new logo for the firm, and a completely new visual identity system, including new colors, typography, and other collateral.

The partners of the firm, along with all the staff and clients we’ve heard from have all been extremely pleased with our new identity. We were proud to hand out cards. It’s helped us to look as professional as we are.

We had the same project manager throughout the engagement, which we appreciated because he knew us and our needs, so it made it easier to keep things moving, and for them to address things in the way we needed.

Definitely their responsiveness and willingness to explain things. We’re lawyers, not marketers, so it was refreshing that they’d explain why something would work, or why it wouldn’t, and they respected our time. They did all the work we needed, without any of the fluff.

None. Our experience with them was perfect—we even joked that we wish we had more branding work for an agency to do because our work with them went so well.

The project started with a comprehensive discovery phase. This included Taillight conducting desk research to grasp our work methodology and approach, coupled with in-depth audits of competitive organizations and offerings to gain a thorough understanding of the industry
landscape.

Next, we collaboratively established a brief outlining the criteria for name selection and visual identity development.

Taillight then presented two rounds of approximately 25 name options, each crafted to align with our established brief, which demonstrated a profound understanding of our needs and vision.

After selecting a legally-approved name, Taillight proceeded to develop a complete visual identity, including a distinctive logo, color palette, and typography.

Throughout both the naming and design phases of the project, Taillight's innovative approach, coupled with their meticulous attention to detail, consistently surpassed our expectations. Although the official launch of the new brand was only a matter of months ago, internal acceptance has been very high, and staff adoption has been near absolute. The main target of this umbrella brand—our enterprise sales reps—love the new brand and the freedom it has provided them. So while Measuring ROI is harder and unclear at this point, the anecdotal support is enormous.
