Our project aimed to develop a patient journey management software integrated with our local e-health ecosystem. We started to work with Supercharge after our former developer vendor left our project. Supercharge has created many UX design wireframes for us and supported the product designing and development process for many new features and functions. 

They also supported us in managing the user interviews, creating user stories, feature testing and participated in several meetings with our local healthcare ecosystem stakeholders where they provided great support with their IT expertise.

We are very satisfied with Supercharge and I think we had a great and successful collaboration. Their PO was a great help in managing our very complex project and they were also open to having a stronger collaboration, e.g. I could participate in their daily dev standups which was a very effective new way of work for both of us. The colleagues are super-responsive, we could reach out to them anytime and they always were available and ready for action in any ASAP situation. 

They delivered the items on time, and they were always trying to add proactivity in our everyday collaboration and find the best possible solutions for all of our needs. Their willingness to have a deeper understanding and knowledge of the local e-health ecosystem integration was very helpful, and how they managed these complex integration tasks was simply outstanding.

I’m a department head at a people intelligence company. We provide data on influential individuals, typically across two dimensions; either these individuals’ professional history, such as employment or board memberships, or wealth information, such as wealth sources, net worth, and charitable donations. We serve five key use cases. 

On the professional side, we help with business development. For example, a partner at a law firm could use our platform to look up information on a person. In my role, I look after a portfolio of programs.

What challenge were you trying to address with Supercharge?

We hired them for a key UI/UX design project. Our company comprises five brands, all obtained through acquisitions, and our platform has a lot of data and different functionalities. Our UX must be best in class, or users could get lost in capabilities and data volume.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We engaged Supercharge in two phases. The first phase was a months-long discovery process; the team spent time with internal stakeholders and some of our end customers, learning about the different customer types, their needs, and how our platforms served them. Supercharge further investigated and validated our existing user personas. They also worked with us in a two-way conversation about our internal strategies, goals, and key use cases.

We also provided Supercharge with a set of features and requirements that our product team had drafted. Supercharge worked with our product team and our head of UI/UX design to refine the features we needed. We also provided Supercharge with preexisting brand guidelines. 

The second phase was focused on design, where Supercharge took what they had learned during the discovery phase and turned that into a web product’s UI/UX design. The team went through various stages, and the ultimate deliverable was 40 screens and hundreds of wireframes that included designs for multiple stages, including MVP and a fully functional product. Supercharge used Figma for this project. 

What is the team composition?

I predominantly worked with Laura (Account Director) and Emese (Project Manager). Our head of UX design worked closely with Matt (Innovation Consultant) and Erik (Lead Product Strategist) as well as Yan and Andi (designers) from Supercharge.

How did you come to work with Supercharge?

We did an RFP and decided to hire Supercharge because they had the best proposal for what we were looking to do.

We spent £175,000 (approximately $218,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2022–June 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The project was finished recently, and we’ll get into the process of implementing Supercharge’s design, so we don’t have metrics just yet. Anecdotally, our executive team was very happy with the outcome. We also did some testing with end customers, who gave us great feedback. 

Overall, we were very happy with the Supercharge team; everyone was an important part of the project and contributed to the ultimate deliverable. 

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a really good job in project management. The team hit all our key deadlines and was adaptable when we shifted deliverables around and swapped them in and out. For example, we needed a concept for a meeting with our company’s owners, and Supercharge added that into the scope, moving a few things around to meet the request. 

Moreover, the team was great at communicating with weekly check-ins via Microsoft Teams. Supercharge used GanttPRO for project management. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed at how Supercharge took a complex set of requirements from several stakeholders, specific use cases, and a high data volume and distilled it into a clean and fresh UI design. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only piece of feedback we gave them was needing them to push back on us and advise us on what best-in-class design work looks like, providing their expertise. Although it took time to get that pushback from Supercharge, by the end of the project, the team challenged us in some areas and changed how we thought about UI/UX design. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend working with Supercharge during the discovery phase. A key aspect of our project’s success was that we took the time to make sure the team fully understood what we were trying to achieve and what our end customers needed. We had some internal pushback ourselves about the duration of the discovery phase, but it more than paid dividends once we got to the design phase — it wasn’t a wasted effort.

I’m the EVP of business development for Olive Diagnostics. We’re a medical device company that uses AI for urinalysis. Every time a patient urinates, we can see the molecules they’re excreting, and we use them to monitor the patient’s health and cure and prevent illnesses. I serve as the right hand of the CEO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Supercharge?

We hired Supercharge to create a demo app for demo, PR, and media purposes. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our goal was to create an Apple Watch app that could make it easier for our customers and partners to monitor their health every time they went to the toilet. It was a demo app, and Supercharge was involved in everything from initial ideation and development of the product all the way to the product’s delivery to the Apple Store. For technologies, we used watchOS and Apple’s technology stack.

For features and functionality, users could connect their Apple Watch to the toilet, which would have a chip to recognize the user. After the person urinated, the apps would show various screens to show the volume of the urine and the user’s liquid intake — this would tell them how well-hydrated they were. There was also a mock feature where the screen would show if the person had drunk alcohol. 

From there, the app would show a general overview of the person’s kidney health based on their hydration level and other data. A page with a QR code would then show up, and the person could scan it to see the results on their phone. That way, they could show others how well-hydrated they were. 

The patients didn’t have to use these features because they were for demo purposes only. Nonetheless, they were used by pre-qualified users.

We worked with six people from Supercharge, including a developer, a salesperson, a UX specialist, and a project manager. 

How did you come to work with Supercharge?

Supercharge was in our building, and I saw some of their work. I liked their outputs, and that was how we started talking. I did look into a couple of other developers, but I ultimately decided to engage Supercharge instead. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around €15,000 (approximately $16,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from November 2021–January 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We managed to gain a lot of press coverage. On top of that, we received a beautiful-looking app. It was good to actually have it, and I was truly satisfied with the project’s results. 

Based on the success of this demo, we’re planning to expand the project into actually having something to use in the real world with our partners. We’re in the process of getting funds for that from our customers, and we’re looking into how we can develop the final product with Supercharge. 

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

The work was delivered on time and within our budget. Moreover, the project was extremely well-managed. It was a great process, and we had a pleasant coordination with Supercharge. To communicate, we mainly used Slack and in-person meetings, but we also did a few Zoom calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked their eye for detail, their beautiful designs, and how well those designs worked. If something didn’t work, the team was responsive when correcting things. Overall, they were a great partner to have.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any.

Supercharge is a partner you can trust. You can work with them, and they’ll help you achieve your goals. Overall, you’ll want to engage with them as a partner.

I’m an executive for a healthcare company; we offer preventative direct-to-consumer blood tests.

We needed a partner to help us build an e-health platform. We wanted to create a reliable, user-friendly product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Supercharge has provided us with software development support for our e-health platform. During the RFP process, we shared guidelines regarding specifications for the platform. We wanted to include third-party integrations, so we also provided documentation regarding APIs. Once we engaged Supercharge, we described our needs further, and they helped us establish a workflow. 

The team has used our documentation and existing Shopify site to build an e-health platform. They’ve also custom-built a results portal from scratch.

We’ve worked with 10–12 members of their team, including developers, an account manager, and a project manager. Our main point of contact is the general director.

We sent out an RFP to several parties and chose Supercharge due to the quality of their proposal.

We started working with Supercharge in May 2022, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Supercharge has delivered a functional platform that satisfies our needs, and I’m happy with our decision to partner with them. Taking the risk to build this type of platform for the healthcare industry was daunting, but Supercharge has helped us immensely. We’re very satisfied with the result, so we’ve decided to continue our engagement.

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

Supercharge is keen on delivering high-quality results. They’re also very flexible and open to helping us. For example, they’ve stepped in to support our third-party partners with integrations when we’ve provided vague documentation. Whenever we face challenges that fall outside their expertise, they engage external partners to help us. 

We’ve had some challenging budget discussions regarding work that falls outside the project scope, but overall, we’re happy with the partnership. The team has been responsive and open to our feedback. We use Jira to manage the project and typically communicate via WhatsApp and Slack. We’ve also met for video calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve been impressed with their modern, forward-thinking approach. They’ve maintained an open environment for collaboration, which has enabled them to effectively translate our needs into designs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Supercharge could improve by specifying their project scope because we’ve had instances where it hasn’t been clear.

What challenge were you trying to address with Supercharge?

We wanted to develop a platform to improve data-driven healthcare for innovation purposes. Our goal was to bring healthcare specialists and data scientists together and facilitate a better understanding of one another.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Before engaging Supercharge, we discussed with a community of healthcare stakeholders and external partners to define our requirements. Through our conversations, we found a lack of understanding between healthcare professionals working with data and data scientists. 

Once we engaged Supercharge, we shared our requirements and provided them with documentation. After discussing the project, we ran workshops to get the team up to speed on our industry and business. They also held workshops for our team to learn about their technical expertise and how it would factor into the project.

The Supercharge team has developed a social platform that decreases the pressure on healthcare resources. We haven’t launched the platform yet, but we’re excited about the opportunity to fill a market gap in how we use healthcare data.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Supercharge has shown a great deal of technical expertise and creativity while building the MVP. We are more than satisfied with the product they’ve delivered. 

Although we haven’t launched the product yet, we’ve received positive feedback from stakeholders. In discussions with the market, we feel there is a need for the product, but we need to overcome some internal compliance issues before moving the project forward.

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had a very positive experience overall. Supercharge has taken our hand and walked us through the various technical stages of building the MVP. They’ve helped us understand the workflow and provided direction as needed.

Furthermore, the team has delivered features on time and within budget. We’ve met weekly via Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, and they’ve created an open, positive, and collaborative team environment.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with the positive vibe the Supercharge team brings to the table. They’ve worked remarkably quickly, and their flexibility and creativity are second to none.

I’m the acting CIO for a microfinance institution.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Supercharge?

The concept of finance can come across as intimidating or confusing, so we engaged with Supercharge help us create and deploy a customer mobile app to an audience segment that required a unique UI/UX. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app includes a basic account overview for existing customers where they're able to see the loans they’ve taken out, the status of those loans, and how many payments they’ve made. Users are also able to make requests for additional funds, emergency loans, and extensions or delays in case they can’t make a payment. They can also reach out to the bank whenever they need to.

At the start, we provided Supercharge with a minimal sketch of a prototype, and then we developed the wireframes together. In conjunction with the team, we came up with a theme, art direction, and look and feel. 

Currently, we're in the MVP phase, and there are plans to have a lot of information around financial literacy as well. The solution is only for Android right now.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 10 people, including two main design leads. On occasion, we requested the input of a branding expert and an architecture expert.

How did you come to work with Supercharge?

They have a good track record in Indonesia — their developers having built one of the apps that revolutionized banking in the country. Supercharge was involved in the RFP process for app developers. Even though we didn’t select them to develop because of the price, and despite their technical skills, we asked if they’d be willing to provide the design. We decided that this was the strongest part of their offering.

We've spent around $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–March 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our experience has been wonderful. Supercharge is very professional and proactive. We recently won the IS Design Award for UI/UX usability, which is, perhaps, the most profound statement for the good work they put in.

In a two-month period, we’ve seen about 70,000 users onboarded. It's easy for them to use and understand.

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was very strong, and there were no surprises. Everything was planned out. They had a really good rapport with our team and almost met all of their deadlines. When they didn’t, they communicated it with us in a timely way. They used Jira and Figma to collaborate with us. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

For an organization of their caliber, they were more reasonable in price than most, as they didn't charge for everything. Whenever there was a misunderstanding, they were willing to meet us halfway. They were a very reasonable and ethical partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We didn’t engage with them to do the whole development because of their cost.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They were very proactive and made suggestions that gave us things to think about. My only advice is to plan what you want and be transparent about what it is upfront.

What challenge were you trying to address with Supercharge?

We were looking for an easier solution for patients to take their prescription medication, so we needed to develop a digital solution that can help them deal with their specific issues.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Supercharge helped us build and develop an ethical mobile app that will seamlessly enable patients to take their medication and manage their health. They created a gamification system that will adapt to the user’s busy lifestyle and keep track of their healthcare needs.

We started with a discussion about our ideas and pitched it to be a prototype project. Supercharge ended up winning the pitch and presented us with a design prototype on how they’ll approach the development.

We even had the Director of Behavioral Sciences from one of the biggest medical universities in Hungary assist the process with their expertise to give it a good foundation.

They made the app compatible with the iOS and Android platforms, and they also helped us build a promotional website that acts as a landing page for our campaign activities.

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with a product strategist, UI/UX designers, iOS and Android Developers, two client services representatives, and a technical project manager.

How did you come to work with Supercharge?

We already had experience working with Supercharge on a previous engagement. We invited them to pitch for this project along with two other vendors, and decided that Supercharge was the right fit to work on this app in the long term.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership started in September 2020, and we’re still dedicating a year of development to our project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The key metrics for the project’s success are how they’re able to keep retention rates above average and the positive feedback and the 4.5 rating we’ve been garnering from the Google Play Store.

We’ve been live for almost six months and during that time, users have spent more than 90,000 hours in the app and have taken close to a quarter of a million blood pressure measurements.

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

There have been bumps in the development process so the scope has changed quite frequently, but they're very open in adapting and addressing any issues. They’re cooperative and are flexible enough to scale the project just to meet our deadlines.

We typically communicate through Slack, Google Suite, and Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their attitude and diverse team dynamics. They wanted to partner with us so they can expand their knowledge in the healthcare industry, but they're also able to provide us with good guidance to steer us in the right direction.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When it comes to the partnership, reaction time and cost of engagement are always crucial but so far, the collaboration has been really positive.

I would recommend inviting them to the conceptual phase as early as possible because they’re able to bring fresh insights that could be crucial to your project.

We needed to outsource our UX/UI design and web development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Supercharge does the UX/UI design and development of our website from scratch. They use React and Gatsby on the frontend, and Node.js and Typescript on the backend. On the database, they used PostgreSQL.

What is the team composition?

There are three developers, one project manager, and one tester. There are also UX/UI designers helping us based on the demand.

How did you come to work with Supercharge?

I knew of them from my previous company, and the cooperation with them had been good. Now that I started my own company, I decided I wanted to continue with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They managed to build the MVP within six weeks and managed to save us €20,000 every year. It might not seem like a lot, but as a startup, it was excellent because it's a complex project.

How did Supercharge perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is good. Every time we start a new task, we estimate it, and they always meet it. In terms of tools and communication, we use GitHub, Clubhouse, and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our cooperation has always been open with them — if there’s a problem, they're available for us. Communication is good; we work as a team, reflecting on the quality of what we’re doing together.

I don't think there's anything they can improve on. Everything works well.
