I’m the CTO at Bitgray Labs, a development outsourcing company based in the US.

They are our partners for some of our projects, mainly outsourcing ones.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We develop mobile apps for three main clients, and SunDevs provides us with talent to work with us on these projects. The technologies we’ve used include Angular, Android, AQA, and occasionally Python.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with around seven people.

How did you come to work with SunDevs Inc?

I met SunDevs’ CTO when they were helping my company with another mobile development project. He told us about his company, and then we started working together. We choose most of the companies we work with because we know their work personally or have collaborated with them on other projects.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $400,000 per year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around 2014, and we continue working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SunDevs Inc has been very professional, and we have developed a very close relationship with them. They tend to find high-quality talent, as our goal is to deliver high-quality products.

As with every project, we’ve had our not-so-great cases. However, the talent we’ve had access to through them has been very good in terms of skills, communication, experience, etc. 

How did SunDevs Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t use any project management tools with them because the talent they find works directly with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are very transparent on a business level. They have been transparent about everything, like technology, finances, etc. They are very dynamic and proactive, and they always bring an added value to their services.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We can all improve, but I honestly can’t mention anything at the moment.

I’m the co-founder and CTO of Iotini. We’re an IoT company that develops wireless sensors.

We needed assistance with app development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

As a long-term partner, SunDevs Inc has developed every mobile app we’ve ever needed for both internal and external use. They developed iOS and Android versions of each application.

What is the team composition?

We communicate directly with the developers; there’s no intermediary. We usually have between 1–4 resources depending on the workload.

How did you come to work with SunDevs Inc?

We had relationships with other vendors located in Columbia, and they introduced us to SunDevs Inc. They offered the services that we needed for an excellent, competitive price.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2012, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With the help of SunDevs Inc, we always achieve what we set out to do. Every app they deliver meets all of our requirements and expectations.

How did SunDevs Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

We mostly communicate via Slack, but we email or schedule Skype calls as necessary. The SunDevs Inc team is very responsive, and the language barrier has never been an issue. Additionally, we can count on them to meet deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They do more than just develop our apps. The SunDevs Inc team also supports us in the launching process, carrying each application through the necessary steps for the iOS and Android app stores.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Currently, we provide the graphics for the applications. They could expand their services by staffing a graphic artist.

We are a product development company offering a number of solutions. I’m a program manager within the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with SunDevs?

We were building a charity-donation platform for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Organizations can subscribe to our platform and raise funds for whatever goals they have. Our company built the .NET backend platform and browser-based app, while SunDevs developed the mobile version. We have worked with three developers and a project lead from SunDevs.

How did you come to work with SunDevs?

I wasn’t involved in the selection process. Our CEO found SunDevs through contacts.

How much have you invested with SunDevs?

The cost of SunDevs’ work was between $25,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with SunDevs in October of 2016. The project was completed in March of 2017. We maintain contact with SunDevs.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

In terms of bug counts and other things like this, I don’t have any numbers. But, generally speaking, we did a good job of specifying the product, planning, and setting up milestones. SunDevs did well in adhering to those milestones and delivered reasonable quality, with only a minor number of bugs. They were very good at solving any problems we found to the point that, at this time, we don’t have any open issues for that part of the platform.

How did SunDevs perform from a project management standpoint?

SunDevs did a good job of estimating and delivering tested code. We only identified a few issues on our side.

I don’t know what SunDevs used internally for project management, but they provided good status reporting on a weekly basis and gave us accurate estimates. They also have good issue management and regular review meetings. SunDevs was good at assigning tasks and taking care of issues, more or less within estimated timelines.

What did you find most impressive about SunDevs?

SunDevs delivered good-quality code in the agreed-upon timeframes, and they were very good at reporting statuses and fixing issues. It may not be unique in the sense that it’s expected of any software development company we might want to work with, but it doesn’t happen all the time. The project was not overly complex, but I still appreciate the good job SunDevs did.

Are there any areas SunDevs could improve?

I can’t really think of anything. I’m happy with the experience.

I’m the founder and CEO of Boomerang Bike.

What challenge were you trying to address with SunDevs?

We needed an app to run on Apple iPhones and Android phones.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I’m not familiar with the technology they used. It was a turnkey development, which means I trusted their judgment. There were around six people working on the project. We’re on the third or fourth revision of the app. They’ve completed the first three revision. They’ve finished projects and we have started new projects with them.

How did you come to work with SunDevs?

We chose them because of the fact that they could do turnkey work and didn’t need to be managed. We gave them the big picture, and they were able to do it with detail. In addition, their location was attractive to us based on time zones. Their time zone was much more attractive than India, and their costs were equivalent.

How much have you invested with SunDevs?

We spent in the low tens of thousands on the project.

We started working with them in 2014, and the work is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The app has been well received in terms of user experience—the way it looks and the way it works.

How did SunDevs perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is a strength of theirs. We didn’t have a lot of resources to manage them, and they didn’t need a lot of management. We gave them a high-level perspective of what we needed, and they delivered to that high level. We used Trello, Skype, and email to communicate. They’re very good at keeping in touch.

What did you find most impressive about SunDevs?

One thing that’s nice is that we’re rolling out an international model. SunDevs can help with the international language and the globalization of the app.

Not that comes to mind.
