We are Playscapes Scotland Ltd,. We are a bespoke design and build adventure play area contractor who specialises in play installation services, we also cover maintenance of play areas and safety surfacing. I'm Dougie Smith and I'm the Managing Director of the company.

We hired Steady Hand to showcase our services through the cornerstone video promo, allowing us to reach out to more clients, namely local authorities, community-funded groups, high-end private clients and public bodies. Our goal was to broaden our client base and to showcase our services and new approach in to the play sector.

After having an initial browse of video content production, we wanted to work with a company that understood the ethos behind what we were aiming to achieve. Our initial enquiry to Steady Hand Productions was instantly met with the understanding that they knew exactly what our company aimed to achieve. Working with a Steady Hand Productions was a perfect match.

After our initial meeting, we opted for the cornerstone video package. Steady Hand had a list of questions for us to attain the feel of the video and the content. From our answers, they created a storyboard and scripted the flow of the content.

Filming was over two days on various sites and headshot interviews were conducted over this time. The filming and creativity process was exciting to watch and this is where Steady Hand really shone, their eye for detail and through process really captured the messages spot on.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with both Jack and Josh during the whole process, both guys were very warm, professional and encouraging during filming. Nothing was an issue, re-takes were very easy and flowed really well. Jack and Josh put everyone at ease and created a professional yet friendly environment to work in.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Yes, our cornerstone video has been live for a very short time and in this time we have seen our social media activity increase across all platforms. We have also seen an increase in our direct enquiries, broadening our catchment areas, which is exactly one of the things we were aiming to achieve.

Project management was very clear, our consultations and meetings were carried out either in person or via zoom, emails exchanged ideas and answers with a draft copy of the promo video being shared before the final edit. Timelines were always on point and the product was very high-end.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We found the professionalism, friendliness and high quality of the product the most impressive thing about working with Steady Hand Productions. They really did go that extra mile for what we were aiming to achieve and ticked every box for me.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, I can't think of anything I would have changed about the whole process. These guys have put a lot of time into planning how they want to run their company and it definitely pays off with what they deliver to their clients.

I am the Group Marketing Coordinator for at an award winning construction and property development company throughout Ireland, UK and Europe.

In a short time frame and with a limited brief, we asked SteadyHand Production to capture the essence of our recent project in the East Renfrewshire council where East Renfrewshire Council (ERC) appointed our firm as Lead Contractor, under one Contract, to simultaneously construct the £24m Framework comprising five new Early Learning Centres (ELC) on 5 separate brownfield and operational school environments.

I received quotes from many video production companies in the Glasgow and East Renfrewshire council areas. Steadyhand were competeively priced but Jack's enthusiasm for the task is the main reason as to why I chose Steadyhand.

The guys captured interview style content with our Regional director discussing the build. The guys then captured great imagery throughout the 5 sites. They moulded this all together to create a fantastic video that showcased the magnitude of the project and our Regional Directors interview was used as a voiceover. They also integrated an earlier interview with the stakeholder into the video upon our request.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

Jack and Josh were both great to work with. As mentioned elsewhere their enthusiasm for our project was intrinsic to getting the desired result. Jack was brilliant from start to finish with us and it was his enthusiasm that made us choose SteadyHand.

We have submitted the video for as a part of an award submission bid. We are very hopeful of winning this award and the initial feedback has been great.

We hired Steadyhand Productions on behalf of an energy client to help tell a clear story about the energy transition in an engaging way. The videos, which include regional versions with speakers from local companies, are shared on social channels and targeted towards communities within that region.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We've worked with Steadyhand Productions on a few video projects and they come recommended by my colleagues. We were impressed with timely turnarounds and the quality of the videos already created, as well as the responsive and helpful guidance of Jack and Josh, who took the time to interpret our briefs and join calls to ensure everyone was on the same page.

It started with an initial email to gain costs and availability, which was responded to the same day. We then pulled together a detailed brief about the client and the project, and the stories we were hoping to tell. Following the digesting of this, we held an initial call with Steadyhand Productions and the agency team to answer any questions and chat about logistics and time scales.

As the project included multiple shoots across different cities and dates, we were in regular dialogue about travel and locations etc. The day before the shoot we had a final check in, and heard from the team during the day to hear how the shoot was going. We then received a first draft of the video which was shared on the editable platform Frame.io, which meant we could all add any comments or amends easily, which was a great tool to have.

After a few simple amends that were turned around quickly, we shared with the client and the video guests and received prompt sign off. The initial briefing to turning around of the first video was completed within a week, and invoices shared following sign off.

We worked with both Jack and Josh and the feedback process was very simple - using Frame.io to gather our initial comments and feedback and then sharing a final video with the client to feedback on.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The client and the organisations appearing within the videos were extremely pleased with the output, sharing on LinkedIn and social channels. There were no amends from the client and the conversation was captured perfectly. We're also a stickler for detail, and subtitles had minimal to no typos.

They were highly responsive and excellent to communicate and work with. We got the sense they were excited about the job and wanted to deliver it to the bets of their abilities. They've obviously taken the time to think about what would make our lives easier with investing in tools like Frame.io which means we don't need to keep downloading videos. We spoke over Zoom and phonecalls as well as email, and never had any delay.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They took the time to understand the ask and made sure the story we wanted to tell was told - despite having extensive footage they condensed it down to just three minutes and didn't lose the story we wanted to tell.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No.

I’m the learning and development manager for the Scottish Auto Cycle Union. We’re the national governing board for motorcycle sports in Scotland.

What challenge were you trying to address with Steadyhand Productions?

We hired Steadyhand to create several promotional videos for our company to be uploaded on our social media platforms. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our team needed an informative promotional video for each of our seven disciplines, and we initially got in touch with Jack (Owner) to explain our goals. Then, we agreed on creating one promotional video for one of our disciplines. After the first video, we decided to produce videos for all of our disciplines. 

The Steadyhand team came to multiple locations and interviewed several riders, volunteers, and staff. They sent us drafts as they put together the videos to see whether or not we needed to make any changes to their outputs. The team then sent over the final copies of the videos, including subtitles. We shared them on our company website and social media platforms. The videos ranged from 30 seconds–3 minutes in length. 

At present, we’re still working together, though they’re finalizing only one more project for us. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with three people, namely Jack, Josh (Video Editor), and Leon (Visual Creative). 

How did you come to work with Steadyhand Productions?

We found Steadyhand online; someone in our organization also had a connection with them. We heard that they were a new team based in Glasgow. As a result, our team decided to give them a go.

How much have you invested with them?

Our company has spent around £5,000 (approximately $7,000 USD) on the project so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The project officially began in August 2021, although our initial talks started in September 2021. The engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’re truly happy with the quality of Steadyhand’s work. All the videos they’ve produced have been shared on social media, and they all have great audience engagement rates. The most recent one that we’ve uploaded has received plenty of shares and interactions on our Facebook page. Overall, they produce high-quality work with a fast turnaround time.

How did Steadyhand Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Steadyhand’s project management is great. There’s a constant stream of communication between our teams from the beginning to the end. Their resources have delivered the videos on time, and working with them has been great. They also always come up with suggestions that work best for the videos. 

Moreover, they’ve always been available; if I need anything, I can simply call them. They get back to me quickly, and the team’s always open to having discussions. They also give feedback on anything they think might work best for the project. We do most of our communications through phone calls and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve ticked a lot of boxes for us. The team has been open and adaptable. This is a new environment for them, but they’ve been open to learning about our sport. This is helpful when it comes to getting the right shots, speaking to the right people, and getting the right conversations. The team has also been keen on working with us every time we ask them to take an opportunity. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. We’re happy with everything they’ve done for us, and they keep investing in themselves to improve their work’s quality.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open and honest with Steadyhand because they’re adaptable and happy to take on your challenge.

ESP Music Rentals Limited is a backline hire company ie we hire out drum kits, keyboards, pianos, guitars, basses, amps & DJ equipment to name but some of the equipment to musicians, promoters, venues, festivals, TV & radio companies. My husband & I are both Directors in the business.

After closing during COVID19 for 16 months we felt that we needed to make sure our clients knew we had survived the pandemic & we had seen some of Steadyhand Productions videos in the media. We met with them & agreed that a promotional video to put out on social media & add to our website was the best way forward.

After seeing some of Steadyhand Productions videos online we felt that they would be worth taking to, & we were right. They were profession, understood our business, had great ideas & in the end, created a re--launch video which we were very happy with.

After our initial meeting Steadyhand Productions took charge of the entire project with good, professional communication. They came up with the concept for the video plus the music & a social media posting schedule together with narrative.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Following the release of our 'come back' promotional video we had a noticeable upturn in enquiries, resulting in an increase in business. The weekly social media postings also had a positive affect, allowing us to share our stories with our client base & further.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

There was regular communication between ourselves & Steadyhand Productions & they were very receptive to our feedback & any open to suggestions.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Steadyhand Productions were very professional with a good understanding of our business which is pretty unique for us as a lot of people don't know what backline is. They had obviously researched our business and prepared the project to meet our expectations.
