Our collaboration with Staylime has been ongoing and covers several key areas. First, they developed and provided their Avante Shopify theme for our store, and unlike most theme developers, they have continued to handle all custom coding changes, tweaks, and updates directly, without ever redirecting us to a third-party developer. 
This includes regular theme version updates with full migration of our customizations, most recently upgrading us from version 12.0 to 12.2.1 for significant performance and SEO improvements following Google's Lighthouse 13.0 update. Second, Staylime built a custom app for our store that automates EUR to USD pricing workflows, a critical tool for our business as an official dealer of European furniture and lighting brands. 
Third, they provided expert advisory and hands-on support for our migration from Advanced Shopify to Shopify Plus, ensuring a smooth transition. Throughout it all, their team, led by Val Kelmuts and Andrew Velikiy, has been responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in the success of our store.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The most immediate measurable outcome has been the time savings from the custom EUR to USD pricing app. Maintaining and updating our product catalog is our single biggest challenge, as most of our products come from Europe, and prices and collections change frequently. 
What used to be a tedious, manual process of converting and updating pricing has been reduced by 50%, freeing up significant hours that can now be spent on clients and projects instead of administrative work. Additionally, following the theme performance updates and migration to Shopify Plus, we have seen a noticeable increase in website traffic. 
Perhaps most importantly, word of mouth around our online presence has improved dramatically. Clients, trade partners, and colleagues in the industry now consistently comment on the quality and professionalism of our website, which directly reflects the level of care and expertise Staylime has brought to our store.

Staylime's project management has been consistently reliable and professional. Deliverables were always completed on time, and in many cases the only delays were on our end, as a busy small business owner. 
If anything, it was Staylime who would gently follow up with us to keep things moving forward, which we genuinely appreciated. Their communication throughout has been clear, patient, and responsive, and they have always made us feel like a valued client regardless of the size of the task at hand.

What stood out most about Staylime is how quickly they made us feel like they were part of our team rather than just a vendor. From very early on in our collaboration, their response times were impressive, always fast, always kind, and always on point. In an industry where developers can feel distant or transactional, Staylime felt like a genuine partner who truly cared about the success of our store. 
That combination of technical expertise, warmth, and responsiveness is rare and is exactly what a small business owner needs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Staylime could have done differently?

Honestly there is very little to critique. If anything, the one area that could occasionally make things even smoother would be the option to jump on a quick call or screen sharing session to walk through our workflow in real time. Sometimes it is simply faster to show something visually than to describe it in writing, and having that option more readily available would be a nice addition. 
That said, this is a minor observation and in no way detracts from the overall excellent experience of working with Staylime.

We entrusted a project for migrating a site from Magento 1 to Magento 2, but after nearly a year, we find ourselves having to terminate the collaboration because the migration presents numerous errors. They were supposed to deliver the project in 2-3 months, and it has turned into a never-ending nightmare. They proposed a low starting budget of 3-4k, then they asked for extra many extra payments for everything. They also messed up the integrations of third-party apps. We now have to hand the project over to another agency, which won’t be pleased to continue the work left in this state.

The damage caused by this delay exceeds 100k and will be pursued legally. Beware of this agency; they have left us struggling for months, their office doesn’t even exist, and no one answers the phone. They claim to be Mageworx, but even they disown them.

Their project management has been irresponsible because they abandoned us several times during the course of the project. They only provided partial answers without ever caring about the goal to be achieved. All they knew how to say was that they needed more money, and more money. I think I have been scammed by this agency.

No, they were not willing to solve the problems and they started to do not responding to our emails or calls.

Giovanni, we appreciate all feedback and strive to address concerns professionally. However, we must clarify that your review is misleading.

From the outset, Giovanni knew the project’s complexities and had acknowledged past failed attempts with other agencies. Our team provided a detailed proposal, including a fixed-price option of $48,320, but Giovanni opted for a step-by-step T&M model, approving and funding each task separately.

He refers to unsubstantiated damages but omits that his company paid $6,430.60 in total, contradicting his claims. As the project progressed, tasks were completed strictly within the approved scope and budget. Potential issues related to third-party solutions were explicitly noted as out of scope, and Giovanni was informed that addressing them would incur extra costs.

To reduce costs, Giovanni involved third-party vendors after the initial data migration. They made changes without version control, causing repeated disruptions and compatibility issues. As these challenges arose, Giovanni grew frustrated with the evolving scope and associated costs, shifting responsibility to us as though we had agreed to a fixed-price turnkey project. This escalated into unfounded accusations, demands for free work, and manipulative tactics.

When demands went unmet, Giovanni requested a final delta migration, source files, and a detailed report, which we delivered. He then revoked access and opened multiple PayPal disputes, seeking full refunds despite the services being delivered as agreed.

The disputes we successfully defended further validate that our work was delivered as agreed and that Giovanni’s claims lacked merit. The results of our work remain in use on his project.

We regret that this experience did not meet Giovanni’s expectations, but remain open to any constructive dialogue. Staylime took over our site shortly after a disastrous upgrade migration experience from Magento 1 to Magento 2 with a different development firm. Our initial engagement included stabilization of the site and correcting countless performance errors caused by sloppy and conflicting code from the former developer. 

Upon onboarding with Staylime, our Project Manager, Andrew, identified and outlined a scope of work that included addressing the most critical code issues causing functionality issues, speed impacts, and improving the functionality of our UX. Our project is ongoing, however, the following details a high level overview of our project components:

Our site was failing on all key measurements upon onboarding and we are now passing all vital checks on desktop & diligently focused on improving our performance on mobile. All errors reported in the browser console have been fixed.

Staylime did a great job of finding suitable alternatives to extensions that didn't provide compatibility modules, and developed custom modules to ensure that no storefront functionality was lost during this migration. Additionally, we aimed to boost the website's loading speed. Faster loading times not only enhance user satisfaction but also lead to higher conversion rates and improved search engine rankings, which we had hoped to achieve using the Hyva theme.

Our main need was to solve ongoing site security issues. We were looking to get our Magento site upgraded to the most current version and to take others steps needed to ensure that we would see no more site security issues. We were also looking for a developer with general expertise in Magento. 

In 2022 we were operating a Magento site that was made by another developer. After a bad experience with that company, we were looking for a new partner that could assist with overall improvements and modifications of our Magento site.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were extremely pleased that our site security issues were eliminated after Staylime's work was completed. This was largely accomplished through the upgrade to the most current Magento, but our upgrade process was fairly involved. The prior developer had used custom code that was dated and that wasn't compatible with modern Magento. 

Consequently, entire sections of our site had to be removed and reconstructed to allow compatibility. Staylime has since assisted with the implementation of patches as soon as Adobe has released them. Additionally, they assisted with the addition of a more comprehensive scanner that has helped ensure site security. 

Upon conclusion of the work, our security issues completely ended. We have now been able to operate using a fully patched and current Magento site. Additionally, we have seen Staylime succeed with other smaller projects and improvements that we brought to them.

Communication started with telephone, but then quickly went towards email and Trello. It took a little bit to establish a good cadence, but then communication has flowed well. Typically, once a target completion date for given work was established, it has then generally been met.

We do feel that Staylime has an impressive command of Magento. In 2022 we had a dated Magento site that needed some help. We didn't wish to change platforms, so we were looking for a company that had expertise in Magento and was willing to work with an existing site. 

And, we have been very pleased with Staylime's demonstrated expertise with the Magento platform. We have also appreciated their flexibility with regards to contracts and work hour allotment. Staylime has been very flexible and has allowed us to set the structure with regards to paid time usage.

We did see a couple of lapses with communication early on. However, we openly discussed these with our reps at Staylime, and it became a constructive discussion. I think they are now fully aware of our needs and expectations, and they have made a concerted effort to meet them.

I’m the CEO and founder of Darantasia, a company that distributes industrial tools through e-commerce. We use an e-commerce website called Technostok.

I needed a specific interface for our e-commerce website, which required us to customize a particular software.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Prior to our engagement, I provided Staylime with a dense business requirement description that described my needs as a user. Staylime had to read and understand this document before executing the code. 

Staylime has used a panel of tools and technologies for my project, including Magento, PHP, and JavaScript. The software they’re creating allows users to manage our product’s attributes in a specific way. Since we manufacture industrial tools, we don’t only sell a finished product, but we need to adapt the tools according to the client’s needs. We need to adapt the product before selling it in a given quantity. 

Staylime is currently working on the software’s prototype and expanding its features. We haven’t moved to the production phase since I’m looking for mandatory features in the product’s prototype. Most of Staylime’s service is the warranty of delivering our solution because there have been bugs and glitches that we needed to resolve.

I’m satisfied with Staylime’s quality of work and the way they interact with me. Staylime’s team is sharp and understands my needs, which are pretty specific. Staylime is knowledgeable on the technical aspect, and when they finalize my product, it will allow my company to sell specific tools to our market.

How did Staylime perform from a project management standpoint?

Staylime meets and respects timelines. I’ve had to modify our original timeline due to some internal constraints, and Staylime has been very resilient in following these changes and deploying the module despite my inner limitations during the R&D phase of the project.

I’m most impressed with Staylime’s ability to understand my complex needs. I really appreciate their ability to quickly grasp my project’s requirements and convert them into a deployment plan. Staylime also has explained the details of the project’s scope and how they would approach it to ensure it aligned with my needs.

The only thing for Staylime to improve is their diligence when quoting and providing feedback about the project’s cost. When I request a new functionality, I always ask Staylime to quote the work so I can plan my budget in advance. Other than that, Staylime is doing an excellent job.

I recommend being extremely disciplined when you create a business requirement. Ensure that the solution’s description is exhaustive and that there is no room for interpretation. I also recommend ensuring everything is aligned with Staylime’s team before stepping into the development phase.
