I’m the owner and strategist of Reflective Marketing, a social media marketing agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with Spotlight Podcasting?

I had previously launched my podcast, but I had some difficulties with the production side of things. I also wanted to make sure that the final episodes would have the level of quality and care that I wanted. On top of that, I was pretty stuck on content so I needed some help to think about the podcast from a strategic standpoint and figure out the direction that I wanted to take.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Spotlight Podcasting handled the production of my podcast, which includes the technical recording, editing, and more. Beyond that, they helped me figure out my podcast’s direction and how to create more beneficial content for my business.

Additionally, they helped me figure out how to find guests I want on my podcast, which involves handling the guest outreach strategies and the processes behind contacting, nurturing, and booking those guests. I continue to work with Spotlight Podcasting, and I’m currently creating a bunch of content I plan to put out soon.

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with Jonathan (Founder), but I’m sure there are other people behind the scenes because they have a very well-oiled machine.

How did you come to work with Spotlight Podcasting?

I met Jonathan when I was working in a coworking space. He was very knowledgeable and helpful when I asked questions about podcasting. He was generous with his time and was always willing to help, too. 

Before choosing Spotlight Podcasting, I worked with another podcast agency. However, I found their process to be difficult, which resulted in multiple obstacles. As a result, I wanted somebody who would really pay attention to the finer details of my podcast, which was the reason why I chose Spotlight Podcasting. On top of knowing what they were talking about, they cared about the end product they were going to create and had the level of attention to detail that I was looking for.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $4,500–$6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in June 2021, and we continue to collaborate.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I don’t have any specific metrics because we haven’t published anything yet. However, their work has had a huge impact on me — they’ve definitely made my life a lot easier. When I get stuck with something, they’re able to help me get across that hurdle and move on. With their support, things are happening a lot quicker.

How did Spotlight Podcasting perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management perspective, they’ve been really excellent. In fact, we have a Slack channel we use for updates. They also have an online piece of software that serves as the hub of all the files and processes. We send Loom videos back and forth, and I can reach them by email or through calls, too. Overall, their schedule has been very flexible when it comes to discussing things and it’s very easy to get an answer from them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Spotlight Podcasting is proactive — they anticipate my needs. Nothing is out of scope, and they’re always ready to help me. I haven’t seen the level of service they’re able to provide from other companies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they have no areas to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be ready because Spotlight Podcasting always is. In addition, they’re so good at what they do. The only way that the partnership will not work out is if you’re not yet ready to move with your podcast.

I’m the founder and CEO of an organization called 7:47. We are a consulting firm in the social wellness space, so we go into companies and help them build socially connected cultures.

What challenge were you trying to address with Spotlight Podcasting?

We wanted to develop our thought leadership by highlighting our stories of great leaders, but we didn't have a good podcast producer. We turned to Spotlight Podcasting to help us with this specific challenge.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Spotlight Podcasting conducted an in-depth onboarding process to understand what our goals were, what systems we already had in place, and what audience we wanted to attract to our podcast. 

From there, they built out the entire process from pre-production, onboarding calls, recording the podcast, and post-production down to marketing and distribution. They automated that process so that we could focus on interviewing guests. Spotlight Podcasting signed us up for different software and platforms, through which they would edit and distribute our podcasts

I work directly with the founder who gets assistance from his team.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested something within the range of $10,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our partnership in January 2019 and it is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Spotlight Podcasting has helped us secure interviews with close to 100 mid-market, venture-backed Inc. 5000 founders, 14% of whom have been converted into a B2B client for 7:47. It has resulted in us generating a six-figure revenue through our podcast channel. 

How did Spotlight Podcasting perform from a project management standpoint?

They have great organization and time management capabilities. Their tools — ranging from Asana to  Miro, Hubspot, and ClickUp — allow for high visibility when it comes to project management as well. We typically communicate via email and Messenger.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Spotlight Podcasting is extremely detailed and very process-oriented. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I think they’re pretty good.

Be crystal clear with your goals because Spotlight Podcasting is sure to build a process to help you meet those goals.

I'm the director of marketing for an insurance company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Spotlight Podcasting?

We were looking to grow our brand awareness through podcasts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Spotlight Podcasting is a podcast production company. I record episodes of an interview podcast. They edit and then submit the episodes through the podcast channels. They work on around four episodes per month with a length of about 35–45 minutes. They essentially clean up the audio of the episode, and then they assemble parts of it, including putting in our intro and outro.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact is Jonathan (Founder).

How did you come to work with Spotlight Podcasting?

I found them through an internet search. I chose them primarily because of their experience and the package that they offered me.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested around $4,900. The package they offered me is around $700 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2020, and it’s an ongoing partnership.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I appreciate their timely delivery of assets every week, but that's what they're required to do. Any other metrics would not really be a result of their work since it could be a result of the success of the episode. Due to that, metrics don't really apply to their effectiveness as a service. As long as they deliver items on time and to my satisfaction — which they've done so far — I don’t have any problem.

How did Spotlight Podcasting perform from a project management standpoint?

I mainly communicate with Spotlight Podcasting over Slack weekly or as needed. They're excellent and very organized. For the most part, everything's always on time. I also appreciate that they remind me if I forget to deliver something on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're proactive and make suggestions, so our podcast program is as successful as it can be.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There is no area that I can think of — they’ve been great to work with, so far.

Any advice for potential customers?

I recommend that new customers review all of the materials that Jonathan provides. He gives a lot of coaching on how to set up your podcast for success.

What challenge were you trying to address with Spotlight Podcasting?

I wanted to address the challenge of reaching more people during the pandemic and reaching my market in ways that could be helpful to them. I thought podcasting would be a great way to serve a larger market during a time when they could really benefit from my expertise.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Spotlight Podcasting has helped me set up everything that I needed from the start, and also integrate my podcast on my website and other platforms. Currently, they work with me by cleaning up the audio, helping me understand strategies for developing the podcast, and giving me ideas for leveraging the podcast.

They also help me learn how to see the transcript and provide audiograms for marketing. In general, they give me guidance on the technology, and they help me make sure I can produce the highest quality sound for the podcast.

My main point of contact is Jonathan (Podcast Strategist), and he coordinates his team.

How did you come to work with Spotlight Podcasting?

I had the idea of a podcast in my mind for a while, and I was at a networking event where I met Jonathan. The timing was right, and I could tell that he had the expertise that I needed, so we started working together.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve invested somewhere around $10,000–$25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2020 for the pre-production and the podcast launched in July 2020. We are still working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I'm very pleased with the quality of the podcast and the impact we have. We see that the podcast is gaining traction, and we're continuing to increase subscribers and views.

From a business perspective, I'm able to share specific episodes with my market, and I'm getting great feedback. It's a goodwill gesture on my part to serve my clients, as well as attract new business opportunities through people who might listen and become more interested in the services that we provide.

How did Spotlight Podcasting perform from a project management standpoint?

Spotlight Podcasting’s team is very responsive. We work off a Slack channel, so I have easy access to Jonathan and his team whenever I have questions or need something to be resolved. We continue to talk on a regular basis just to have checkpoint meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Jonathan and his team pay attention to details, and they do high-quality work. He has the ability to think strategically beyond the podcast and see the bigger picture, which has really been helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing specific that comes to mind.

Any advice for potential customers?

Be clear on expectations and try to address issues as they come up. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be open to whatever advice or guidance that they might share.
