I’m the head of product at Feragen. We provide advanced animal DNA testing services for pet owners, breeders, and veterinarians. We offer genetic analysis for parentage, disorders, traits, and diversity, along with expert consultations and innovative animal health diagnostics.

What challenge were you trying to address with Soprex d.o.o.?

We needed to build a self-service customer platform that automates our result delivery.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Soprex d.o.o. has handled the full development of myFeragen, from concept to launch. The main deliverables have been a customer web platform where dog owners, veterinarians, and breeding clubs can register test kits, track sample status, and view their results. The platform also displays results for health/disease markers, traits, and breed composition, plus downloadable reports.Moreover, the team has created dog profiles with pedigree and litter information and sharing of results with configurable privacy settings. Soprex d.o.o. has also built an admin backend for our team to manage customers, animals, and test kits and to load lab results into customer accounts. The team has also been responsible for database design, hosting setup, and ongoing maintenance after go-live.Specifically, we want to let customers register test kits online and track their samples in real time. We also want to give dog owners, veterinarians, and breeding clubs direct access to health, trait, and breed results as soon as they are released. Additionally, we want to enable customers to manage dog profiles and share results with breeders, vets, or clubs.Moreover, we want to connect lab results directly to customer accounts to reduce manual admin work. Finally, we want to create a scalable foundation for new tests and customer groups as our business grows.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform went live after a short development phase and was quickly adopted by our customers. Since launch, it has grown to tens of thousands of registered dogs and a large base of owners, veterinarians, and breeding clubs across Europe.Customers now register test kits, follow their samples, and access their results entirely on their own, which has significantly reduced manual work for our team in result delivery and customer administration. The platform has also given us a solid foundation to introduce new tests and grow at scale.

How did Soprex d.o.o. perform from a project management standpoint?

Soprex d.o.o.'s project management has been well-structured and reliable. We always have a dedicated project contact who is easy to reach and keeps us informed about progress. Despite a tight initial timeline, they deliver on time, and the platform goes live as planned.Moreover, whenever priorities shift or issues come up, they respond quickly and adjust the plan without losing momentum. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What impresses us most is how quickly Soprex d.o.o. gets to grips with a field that is entirely new to them. Genetic testing comes with its own terminology, data structures, and lab processes, and the team takes the time to understand them instead of just building to spec.Combined with the fact that they handle everything end to end, it feels less like working with an external agency and more like having our own development team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, there's very little to criticize. If anything, Soprex d.o.o. could offer short release notes as a standard part of their updates. It isn't something we ask for, but it would add even more transparency for clients.
