I’m the founder of an online recruiting portal. This portal creates an electronic CV with the candidate's relevant information, skills, and certifications as well as a photo and video option. When a company or a recruiter browses an applicant’s CV, they’ll be able to see the whole profile.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Social Networking Solutions sells plugins that I used for the portal. I modified their plugins into a whole new working scenario for me and my clients in South Africa. They provided all the programming aspects of the project.

As we were working with so many plugins, Social Networking Solutions had to create them according to my specifications.

What is the team composition?

I worked with a team member from Social Networking Solutions who liaised with the client and the developers.

How did you come to work with Social Networking Solutions?

Social Networking Solutions develops plugins for social media platforms. You can install the plugins yourself and if you’re having difficulties with the installation, they can install the plugins for you. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Social Networking Solutions from December 2018–March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform is live at the moment. I had an idea and they understood my vision and they created a bespoke platform for me.

How did Social Networking Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

I used WhatsApp to communicate what I wanted, they would put that into a Word document and forward that to their developers. The developers understood what I needed, worked on it quickly, and put it online. I did the testing and modified the plugins to my liking. We also communicated via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were always willing to help me solve the issues with the plugins so I could get my business up and running.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were a couple of communication issues towards the middle part of the project. I don’t think that Social Networking Solutions knew I wasn’t a tech guy or a developer. Other than that, the project was spot-on and they gave me what I wanted.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For someone wanting to purchase a social engine platform and have it modified to your vision, they are the best.

We needed to build our social network website.

Social Networking Solutions has developed our social networking website. Users can create profiles, play games, interact with each other, and put pictures up. The site has various features, including a chat.

They’ve used PHP and JavaScript for development. They’re also supposed to build the mobile applications.

What is the team composition?

They haven’t told us names.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve stopped at $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2022, and our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

There have been cons from the start. We initially bought the script; it was broken to start with, and Social Networking Solutions just made it worse. We gave them money, and we’re still waiting for the product.

How did Social Networking Solutions address the challenges that arose?

They’ve made excuses; it’s been awful. They ask for more money without producing anything to show for it.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

We’ve waited almost a year for simple work.

How was project management handled?

We communicate via WhatsApp.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

No, they’re con artists; there’s nothing nice I can say about them.

In what specific areas can they improve?

There’s nothing good about them. They’re not capable of doing the work they say they can. They have false advertising, which shouldn’t be allowed.
