I’m the founder of Centro de Genetica Jorge Dotto, and what we do is analyze DNA from people and identify their nutrition and the possibilities of risks and diseases. My team of nutritionists will then create and design a personalized diet proposal based on the data we analyze. This is a new type of medical practice called “Precision Medicine”.

Additionally, I’m a medical doctor and I did my anatomic pathology training at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and molecular genetic pathology at Harvard Medical School.

What challenge were you trying to address with SmallCode?

We needed someone to analyze the many genetic markers of certain types of people.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SmallCode developed and designed a software that was able to analyze our raw data with genetic information. We gave them the input, and all the content of genes, markers, genotypes, and phenotypes to automate the process.

What is the team composition?

I was working with one of the partners directly.

How did you come to work with SmallCode?

A person who was doing maintenance work and minor tasks for our website recommended SmallCode to us.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested around $180,000 ARS (Approximately $1,900 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2020–February 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Everything is fine and working very well. They refined the software to read raw data, but whenever it didn’t work properly, they supported us so we can check the data manually. Additionally, the information was something a little bit complex, but they were able to provide us with a tool to summarize the readings, to make it easier for people to understand.

How did SmallCode perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly communicated through email, WhatsApp, and digital calls. We discussed our priorities and deadline and the process was really straightforward.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project was very successful and we were impressed that they exceeded our expectations. When there was something we needed to address, they were always really helpful. We had confidence in their work and I trusted them to do the job well. Another thing that impressed us was their good communication. Whenever we found something that needed a little bit more work, we would discuss the priorities and change whenever it was necessary. They were very practical and flexible in terms of the work.

No, their work was really good.

What challenges were you trying to address with Smallcode?

We’re an old company, so our online presence was very outdated. We decided to create a website that offers online booking and ticketing. Our primary goal was to be able to generate sales in that way.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Smallcode developed our website using WordPress. They migrated our content and copy onto the new interface. The site also features customized plugins.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with two people, but I know that there were others involved.  

How did you come to work with Smallcode?

They were a referral by another company that had worked with them before. I conducted online some online research and reached out to them. When I presented my ideas to them, they provided excellent advice and guidance, so I felt that they were the best choice for this project.

How much have you invested in them?

I don’t remember the exact amount, but I probably spent around $14,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our collaboration with them in February 2018, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We saw a progressive increase in our month to month bookings, so the impact of their work was very positive. They’re very skilled and have a great deal of experience, and they provided insightful suggestions. We had a great experience working with Smallcode.

How did Smallcode perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very flexible; we had delays on our side, but they never had a problem accommodating these schedule changes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I found the assistance system they implemented to be amazingly effective. It was a very convenient method for our concerns and inquiries to be addressed. We also appreciated their attention and advice.

No, I don’t think so.

We developed an app to allow our patients to ask for appointments via our system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I am honestly not sure of the technologies they used but I am aware that they used different APIs that worked very well.

What is the team composition?

I worked with about five people.

How did you come to work with SmallCode?

We were referred to them by colleagues that had done projects with them. We knew they had expertise on app development, and we decided to have a meeting with them. After that I was convinced that they could do a good job.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in mid-june, and in about a month and a half the app was ready to go. We’re continuing our collaboration with them, working on continuous improvements for the app and innovating ideas.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Having this app done was a technology revolution for our company. They helped us connect with our clients, and the app was just very useful.

How did SmallCode perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything was met timely. Actually, the delivery times were even better than we expected. We had constant feedback. They had a great project management system that allowed us to keep track of all milestones, improvements, suggestions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to come up with a very assertive solution to our needs and requirements through the app, and the results were very positive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly can’t say anything. Everything has been going very well and we’ve given them any recommendations in the proper moment. They always take them into consideration.

I’m from Argentina, where they’re based, which is how I knew of them. They were also referred by a friend who’d worked with them before.

We spent between $3,000–$4,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them at the end of May, and it took about a month to finish.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We just started using the site about a week ago, so we haven’t checked any metrics yet, but we are starting to see results. We haven’t seen a huge amount of traffic, but we have already made some sales.

How did Smallcode perform from a project management standpoint?

There were some delays, though they were all on my part. Smallcode always followed up and made a consistent effort to understand how our business worked. They were also always available whenever I needed anything.

Also, as I am not very familiar with development, they created mini-tutorials for me to understand every step of the process, so if I had any questions I could solve it right away.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their communication — they were always available. Smallcode is a very dynamic team that resolved all of my issues and requests immediately.
