Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

In 2024, my Illinois-based band recorded a song I wanted to make a music video for. As a singer/songwriter/actor for several years, this would be my first-ever music video. The song is set in the desert, and I had the idea of shooting it in the high deserts of Central Oregon. I had a broad vision of what I wanted it to look like. I found Travis and Sheilds Films on a Yelp list, and after watching his demo reels, I felt he could help bring my ideas to life. We shot the video in and around Indian Head Canyon and Smith Rock State Park over a day and a half in June 2023; the final edit came back to me a couple of months later. 

The results were...spectacular! Travis (and his assistant, Michael) exceeded every expectation I had for my first music video experience. I let Travis call the shots, but he left plenty of room for me to provide my input. They understood what I wanted from the video because it was practically finished when I received the first cut! A couple of tweaks later and we had a final cut! From pre-production to post-production, Travis and Michael were easy to get in touch with and were always responsive when I had questions. And, we all got along great - like three college buddies. It was truly a team effort and I had a LOT of fun living out my teenage MTV fantasy of making my own music video.

I was so happy with how the music video turned out that I started entering it into film festivals all over the USA and Canada. Today, I'm proud to say that it has been accepted for showing at five film festivals - two in Oregon, two in Illinois, and one in New York - with possibly others to come. This would not have been possible without Travis' skill and direction.

My band is currently recording more new music, and I hope to come back to Oregon again to have Travis and Michael work on my next music video!

Working with Shields Films was all fun and no stress, and a most excellent experience. I highly recommend Travis and his team to anyone looking for an amazing production experience.

We hired Shields Films to record our live/in-person classes before the pandemic forced us to move everything online.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Travis knows his stuff and he doesn't make things more complicated than they need to be. His confidence in his work made us very comfortable trusting he was the right person for the job.

With all our events online since April 2020, Shields Films has produced several videos for us to use for online events.  I let him know our needs in an email and he just makes it happen.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I work mainly with Travis, and Lucas sometimes works on our projects. Travis emails us a link to the project. If we have any edits, I email those changes to him. He is always quick to get the edited project to us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Travis is able to produce an excellent product with very little direction. Easy (for us)! The quality of our class recordings has increased since using Travis. We don't need to worry that we will not have a quality product to sell. The videos we've used for our events have gotten great feedback from our attendees.

Travis makes it super easy. He is easy going, reliable, efficient, responsive and great to work with in every way. We generally just communicate by email.

They make everything seem so easy. Travis is very talented. I know he will give us a product with very little direction.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is absolutely nothing I would change about working with Travis and Shields Films. They are awesome!

For what projects/services did your company hire Shields Films, Inc.?

We have hired Shields Films for a variety of projects, campaigns, and activations over the years, but the campaign I worked most closely with Travis on was for our soft good collab with Rumpl. He has provided video assets and drone footage in the city, in the forest, and in the mountains.

What were your goals for this project?

To raise awareness about the limited edition product as well as produce content for the website.

How did you select Shields Films, Inc.?

We had an existing relationship with Shields Films and had success working with Travis in the past.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We wanted to show the versatility of the product, for use at home, in your car, in the tent, and out when you're camping so we filmed scenes of the artist in different environments. Our internal team drafted out a story board, but we worked collaboratively with Travis to get the shots we wanted.

We got multiple shots, including following the artist sketching, walking across iconic city landmarks, using the blanket in a tent, having the blanket draped over his shoulders with the mountain in the background.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We emailed our storyboard to Travis with a rough itinerary. There was 1-2 members of our internal team communicating with Travis. Because we have worked together in the past, it was easy to have minimal preparations.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to receive a couple different short videos as well as clips to use on our website, our social media, and our email communications. With our product launch, we also ran a giveaway to reach new audiences. We were the quickest sold out collab blanket that Rumpl sold in 2019.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was seamless, we had worked together in the past. We were able to take care of most preparations together over email. Once we scheduled the day to film, Travis took care of bringing his lighting and filming equipment and he helped plan out where to film and scoping locations.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were able to create high-quality video content with little guidance. And they were an extension of our brand.

As Senior Content Producer, I work closely with our partners (including thought leaders, icons, institutions, and influencers) to produce Skillshare Originals: Webby award-winning video content that educates and inspires the Skillshare community.

We hired Shields Films for a hybrid remote and in-person video shoot, with crews connected over video from three different cities. The final project was an online class that needed to look consistent across locations, but also capture the unique vibe and personality of each instructor.

We hoped to engage students on the Skillshare platform.

Our head of production vetted and interviewed various production companies and landed on Shields Films both of the quality of his reel and his super warm, can-do attitude.

We have a couple pre-production calls and shared a deck to lock in the look; over the course of a setup day, our team based in New York worked with Travis over Zoom to setup and style the space, secure the shots, and ultimately prepare everything for the talent. On the next day we captured talking head, overhead, and b-roll.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Travis was super communicative, friendly, and direct which made the entire pre-pro and production process smooth and enjoyable!

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're super pleased with the footage, which is in the edit now. The talent, who's worked with us numerous times before, praised this as his favorite shooting experience yet (quite a compliment during the weird times of Covid!).

Shields Films had a great setup that actually taught our team a few things about a good remote setup, and on the ground communication and quality were both strong.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The praise from the talent really stood out to me and underlined just how positive, proactive, and professional the Shields Films team is. It was a pleasure to work with them from end to end.

The videos were used throughout the year, after the decision was made to shelve the event due to the pandemic. Beautiful, relevant, and pieces were used in our next event, done virtually.
