What was the scope of their involvement?

Serial Scaling provided us with SEO services, including consulting and some technical analysis. Although they didn’t make direct changes to our website, they advised us on which changes and fixes we needed to make, and we handled those changes internally.

Serial Scaling’s work also included creating an organic strategy. Additionally, they did a bulk majority of the keyword research work required for this project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Serial Scaling, our year-over-year (YoY) organic sessions on our website were up by 15%, whereas our overall YoY organic sessions for the pages they optimized increased by 57%. Additionally, our technical site health score improved from 64 to 89 points. Overall, their work met our expectations.

How did Serial Scaling perform from a project management standpoint?

Although we had a minor challenge in our communication, Serial Scaling delivered everything on time and accurately. We used Basecamp for project management and had weekly calls on Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would like to congratulate the whole Serial Scaling team for their work. They had a data-backed strategy and long-term perspective. When they came in, they saw our numbers to make sense of what we were looking at and define how to use our data to drive our strategy. We really appreciated that, as it was a very thoughtful approach.

The strategy itself was also impressive. It had a macro approach with some micro components to it. Overall, it was a very comprehensive strategy, which we also appreciated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. Serial Scaling worked towards improving our communication challenge when brought to their attention.

Be open and willing to work with Serial Scaling. Dan is smart, has great strategies, and knows what he’s doing. Thus, if you give him the reins, he’ll drive you to a good place.

The overall success of the partnership is the high organic ranking of our articles, producing revenue for my company. Serial Scaling is helping us build a brand from scratch in terms of SEO by providing hundreds of content briefs, so we’re delighted with their work.

How did Serial Scaling perform from a project management standpoint?

Serial Scaling is always on budget, communicative, attentive, prompt, and gets things done without any issues — everybody on their team has been rock and rolling from day one. Regarding tools and communication, we mainly use Zoom, Slack, and Asana.

Overall, they lead a hands-on process helping us do everything and aligning their strategies with ours, making this a very easy transition for our teams worldwide.

I’m the president of Flynn's Office Solutions, an office supplier in the New Your City area. Our primary business is being an authorized Xerox sales agency. We provide Xerox hardware and software solutions to service small and mid-sized businesses across the continental US.

Our primary objective was to improve our digital marketing presence.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Serial Scaling has helped us redesign our website. We initially went through a discovery process; they interviewed us to gather our requirements and provided the documentation and proposals. The website includes many design elements, but they haven’t created other collaterals.

For our marketing, they did some paid advertising and email marketing in the beginning. Serial Scaling came up with the copy for the content and website and managed our Google Ads. However, we halted those efforts because it was expensive for us.

They’re currently helping us come up with content strategies. They help us think through what content we want on our site, how to leverage it, and how often to create it. We’re still early in the process, so we haven’t made a content calendar. So far, they’ve just completed one piece of content.

We’ve worked with 7–8 teammates throughout the engagement: the founder, a paid search expert, two SEO experts, an email marketing specialist, a content creator, and a project manager. Some of them are no longer with Serial Scaling.

We’ve spent between $35,000–$45,000 over a year and a half.

We signed the contract with them in March 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We started from a low baseline, but since we engaged with Serial Scaling, we hit the ground running. We’ve seen improvements in our website; from a monthly and quarterly basis, we went from 70 to over 400 visitors. We’ve also seen a great number of impressions, which have increased from 15,000 in Q1 2022 to 200,000 in Q3 2022. Finally, another area we look at is our Google My Business account. We’ve seen a 110% improvement from October 2021–October 2022.

How did Serial Scaling perform from a project management standpoint?

Since we got the website up and running, Serial Scaling has done an excellent job communicating what they plan to do every month. Also, they haven’t shifted the budget at all. We primarily use Asana for project management. Outside of Asana, we use Google Workspace documents and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re remarkably accessible, responsive, and hands-on. The team is on top of all the tasks. Moreover, SEO is their strong suit. We’ve been doing it for several months, and they’ve done well in that area.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The website was a challenge in the beginning. We didn’t have much experience with website development; the deadline was pushed back several months, and they went over budget.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

With any project, it’s essential to do your own diligence and detail the scope of work. Sometimes things can go awry when there’s a misunderstanding between the client and the service provider. Therefore, you should ensure that the vendor fully understands what they’ll deliver and how much it’ll cost so they know what they’re getting into.

I’m the president and founder of Step2Health. We make a range of products for older adults to help them remain independent and reduce the risk of falls.

What challenge were you trying to address with Serial Scaling?

We were primarily focused on improving our SEO, Google search ranking results, and organic traffic.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had an introduction call with Serial Scaling to get to know each other and discuss a plan. We asked them to give us a breakdown of the different tasks they’d do each month to produce a statement of work and determine what we were getting for our money. We worked closely on keyword research, and they did Google and Facebook Ads at one point.

Also, they did some web development work to improve the SEO layout of the page, including headers and keywords. From there, we came up with the design and added some features and functions to drive multiple purchases and upsell the customer as they went through the buying process. In the end, we revamped a large portion of the website.

What is the team composition?

We dealt directly with the owner, but the team had around eight people. They did creative work, web design, paid media, and so on.

How did you come to work with Serial Scaling?

We asked around and got some referrals through different groups we were part of.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $150,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2020–May 2022. The timing of some of our initiatives shifted, so we had to cancel the service.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SEO takes a lot of time before seeing a long-term benefit, so it was a gradual process.  We saw improvements in the key search phrases and words we were trying to improve on — in many cases, they climbed from page four to page one on the Google ranking. We identified the low-hanging fruit and made those changes to have some early wins and see improvements in the ad spend. As we got further, we focused on other things to yield better results.

How did Serial Scaling perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a great job; they even did things outside the scope of work without charging us another nickel. Also, they were very punctual. They met the deadlines and were good communicators; it was a breath of fresh air.

We used Asana to track the progress in real-time and oversee the results, what was pending, and what was already completed. On the other hand, we used Google Meet for our calls and communicated via email, text, and calls depending on what was going on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strengths were their attention to detail and the level of research and granularity in their approach. They were very sophisticated in researching, ranking, and documenting the work. It allowed us to clearly understand what was done as we worked together.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they did an excellent job, to be honest. We saw results, and they were professional and consistent. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be familiar with SEO strategy and how all its pieces come together for the results you want. If you’re diligent in reviewing what services you need, then you’ll know what you’re buying. Sometimes with SEO, there can be a shock regarding the production and quantity of results. For example, sometimes you’ll go in waves where certain things are more important early on, and others are more important later. Overall, being flexible and prioritizing will give you an advantage.

Nonetheless, understanding SEO is difficult, so having someone like Serial Scaling will help you identify some of the potholes or roadblocks that you can avoid.

I'm the digital marketing director of a company that distributes high-end fragrances in North America. We distribute five brands right now, and most of them have e-commerce websites.

I joined the company two years ago, and we didn’t have any SEO engagement with an agency. I then reached out to Serial Scaling to help us because I knew that it was a very important aspect of running an e-commerce business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Serial Scaling originally conducted a site audit before coming back to us. They now continue to be responsible for all our SEO efforts. That includes the additional brands or e-commerce sites that we’re managing. 

In addition, their team has access to our backend, and from time to time, they give us recommendations. Their recommendations include but are not limited to providing ideas regarding our meta descriptions. They work with not just us, but our development agency on any technical enhancements that need to be made to improve our SEO. They also give us the results of the metrics their tracking month-over-month (MoM).

We’re working with Dan (Founder & Managing Director) and their account lead. They serve as our two main points of contact. We also meet other people during our biweekly calls, but we don’t interact with them as much.

Dan and I used to work together at a digital agency. I used to run our website, and Dan was in charge of our SEO efforts. When I transferred, we still kept in touch over the years. When he mentioned that he was going to start Serial Scaling, I decided to partner with him.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in October 2020, and we’re still collaborating with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We used to measure their success based on the incremental organic traffic and revenue that we generate. During that time, we saw great success in our organic revenue and traffic. However, we’ve recently recoded our site and had a relaunch. As such, we’re having dips in our organic traffic and revenue. Despite that, we don’t think it’s Serial Scaling’s fault.

In fact, we find them very easy to work with. They’re also knowledgeable in the space we’re in. As a result, they have good recommendations all the time. We’ve also experienced delays in implementing their recommendations due to a lack of manpower on our side. That’s why we highly appreciate that they help us finish the tasks we can’t complete. Overall, I’ve been happy with our engagement because the team stays on top and monitors everything.

They have a good handle on their project management process, and they’re organized. We use Asana as our project management tool. Overall, we have a good experience with them.

They have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to SEO, and they have powerful reporting skills.

They can improve their response time which includes giving us notices ahead of time. Those things can be extremely helpful.

If you plan to engage with Serial Scaling without having a lot of SEO background, they’re good at teaching, directing, and guiding you. In that respect, they’re very excellent partners. However, if you already have specific goals in mind, it will also be helpful for them.
